A very nice quality item, and very pleased with my purchase. I am not a re-enactor but I collect militaria and for some time I have wanted to have this type of item. I did have to wait over 10 weeks for it. It was out of stock, but in fairness they do state up to 12 weeks for back ordered items. I have since bought 2 other Kepis from them, but my biggest issue and why they are not at the full 5 star rating, is their communication. Both these new items were shown in stock, but despite asking twice for an estimate of expected dispatch date, I have had no communication. And of course I am still not in receipt of these additional Kepis. I can only "assume" their inventory on the web site was wrong and they are out of stock. I "suspect" I will now have to wait again for them to be made. A simple email to answer a customer query surely is not beyond a reasonable request? While undoubtedly only a small company, with quality and cost good, but their customer service "sucks" and it is certainly not their strong point.

I have had an interest in history most of my life and an interest in historical fashion since last year.

Since finding out about Civil War Sutler, I have ordered a number of items from them including a few different hats, sack coat, suspenders, bow tie, pocket watch chain and a few other items.

Any orders I have made where everything was in stock, I got within a week of ordering.

Anything I ordered with one or more items not in stock and had to be made, I had to wait. It does say on their website it can take up to 12 weeks for items to be made, so don't order an item no in stock and expect it soon.

If you have bought multiple items but one or more are not in stock, they will hold all items until they are all ready to be sent or you can contact them and get any items in stock sent earlier.

I waited a month for a Union Officers Sack Coat and a felt cowboy hat. Those were worth the wait as they felt high quality and well made.

With the Sack coat, I originally ordered a size 40, then after e-mailing them about my order, they said they had a size 38 in the same coat in stock and I could have that. I told them my chest size and they send the size 38 to me.

I got it a few days later. I found it was a little tight so I e-mailed them and got a reply saying I could send it back and get a size 40 instead.

So far I have no issues with ordering from them or sending and receiving e-mails from them. I'll definitely will be ordering from them in the future if I see anything on their website that I might like as I know the quality of it will be good.

Bought several leather goods and some packs, every thing is satisfactory. When the parcel detained by custom and needed complex process for me to get it. However seller helped me with all they could do and I got the package without incident. I think I would continue shopping here in the future.

I’d say it was a 8/10 experience. The story basically is that I ordered my get up (a couple of vests, pair of trousers and odd bits and bobs) on the 22nd of July and it arrived around the end of November (the 26th I believe). And that’s pretty much all the problems I’ve had with this company, they are an independent, busy little business and deserve all the business they get. Their products are undeniably the best quality products I have ever had the pleasure of buying. I would recommend this business but I do warn you, make sure you don’t need your order soon.

As always an absolute pleasure to deal with. Purchased a belt, over shirt, holster and some other items. The quality is superb! Accurate and well put together, especially the shirt. The material looks and feels spot on, it’s a generous size and when tucked in looks rather sharp as well as fitting in perfectly with the gear. It’s now become the go-to midlayer. The belt is sturdy and solid, leatherwork is top notch and each item is made with attention to detail. Superb and very helpful! Highly recommended!

Recently received a civil war union forage cap McDowell peak was the best fit I've ever had the height was just right not so high that one had excessive material and made crown flop about but just enough to get that rakish peak without tons of excess material.good quality too highly recommended

Very easy to contact and incredible swift in replying (at most I had to wait a couple of hours!) Things take time but we are talking about handmade incredible high quality products so we are talking good clothes not fast clothes. My delivery landed in between my current house move and they were very patient and acomoedating. The items then delves fit perfect are beautiful made and are exactly as described. I could not be happier please I urge not to pay need to the moans but use this services with confidence you'll not regret it I can assure you!

Most items being bespoke means that it takes a while but it is often worth the wait. You also don’t have to pay for a stock fee for shelf life as they make it for you. I would say the uniform I ordered was pretty dang good even though the price was a sliver of what I have paid elsewhere. When it comes to leather it could be a bit better but it’s by no means bad. All the other materials like wool and cotton are 100% which makes this website one of the best in Europe.

I have been a re-enactor since the 1970's. Civil War Sutler is an excellent supplier. Okay, it can take time for your stuff to come through but some of it is bespoke and has to be made plus source material comes from the US. In re-enactment you can have it quick or you can have it right. I prefer right.

over two months of waiting, but the uniform I ordered is perfect, good products, I will buy from them again, quick to give clarifications on the goods to be shipped.

Love them, always a good bargin, never a problem, have been shopping more than once with the, and gone be more in the future ;-)
