Amazing little business with great items

I have shopped claybear for 5 years and their items are amazing! The team were always honest about everything behind the scenes. It's very sad to see the company go into liquidation and even sadder to read the amount of 1 star reviews that have been left from people that clearly have no respect for other humans. The people that run this business are real people and have feelings. People need to deal with situations a lot better than leaving petty little reviews that have basically been copy and pasted by multiple people to try and prove a point. Very childish and sad and now I see the reasoning behind why claybear is no longer running because no one should have to deal with people behaving like that.

I just want to say the items were always 100% the prices were very reasonable and the sales were crazy! I wish everyone all the best and will miss your items.

Used to buy loads of clothing and loved their stuff.
Then all out of blue yesterday ... ceased trading. Completely shut down website so good luck getting hold of anyone.
Luckily I already had an email trail as was already trying to chase my order from September.
I'm so disappointed in the lies. Tried to say in one post remainder of order dispatched 2nd October and then in an email mid Dec was posted 2 weeks ago so inconsistent.
No proof of dispatch. Offered refund then no communication.

Now liquidised.

Blocked off social media just asking about my order/ refund and that they have been untruthful about my delivery.

So disappointed in the company and their care. No pre warning either and they used to love announcements on socia media.

Now up to my bank to retrieve my losses

Fabulous handmade clothing with a fabulous team !

I found this company a good few years ago via Facebook advertising and I’m so glad that I did ! we have consistently shopped with claybear monthly if not weekly 🤣 I love the brand love the designs and the girls are hardworking and always great customer service ! We have our go to handmade brands for different styles etc , the quality of items has always been fantastic and the pricing is fair for what you get .
all of our orders are always within the 8 weeks turn around that I as a customer agree to when buying any items . Any little niggles have always been dealt with quickly ( as let’s face it we are all human )
i am excited to see how claybear unfolds more now they are all in house manufacturing of their items AKA Emma and her magic sewing hands !
I myself have been self employed most of my life and it’s not an easy shout , it’s long hours not much pay ( although customers are always led to believe business owners are rolling in it … we wish 🙊) and can be soul destroying when the smallest of things go wrong and as much as you have a brand “ you personally “ are the business. Emma and Rah are grafters and very much remind me of how Ive ran my businesses all of my life and this really swings it for me when buying clothing for my little 🥹
the world has changed since covid hit and so many businesses didn’t survive it unfortunately, mine included so for Emma to keep the business afloat and have the uncertainty of others lives ( having staff ) whilst navigating such rough times for over two years deserves a big pat on the back . we have just had our Christmas order and my little boy was so excited to receive it all! It’s January now and we are still wearing some of our Christmas clothes because hey what does it matter if a Santa hat is on a digger in January ?
We are also members of the little cub club and I think it’s a great concept , out of the 14 prints we have received there has only been 2 not to our taste and therefore we have popped them up for sale. £14 for a handmade pair of leggings including postage and free gifts every few months = a no brainer !
Happy New Year team Claybear and I wish you every success for 2025 and beyond !

Awful communication

I am a long term customer since almost the start and have introduced so many friends to Claybear and as a tradition we always get each other a claybear set for any new babies we have.
I ordered a black Friday mystery bag and a new set in the same order (understanding shipping times because of the non sale set I was buying).
I received a dispatch notification Mid December but then 4 days later got a refund notification for the mystery bag even though I had an email saying it was dispatched? I emailed and queried this and got zero response.
I then checked tracking for my order 7 days after dispatch as a friend had seen your Insta story to contact if there was no update on the tracking info and got a reply back very quickly to say you'd chase the courier.
I replied and said no thank you, both items were presents and I have had to scramble on the high street to get presents elsewhere and I wanted a refund.
Again, zero response. It's been 10 days since dispatch, I think we can safely say my order is lost. I understand this christmas has not gone well for you as a company and I could deal with that IF the communication was even 10% better. But it's been awful.
Not impressed, and gutted to be breaking tradition with my friend.

Another really poor experience

Another really poor experience. Following my previous bad review I was sent a partial part of my over due order. I never received the remaining two items. Emails haven’t been replied to, I have been told the items have been dispatched due to them incorrectly marking all items as sent when they weren’t. I questioned this explaining what happened and haven’t had a response. I’ve been trying to contact since the 9th December. So frustrating from a company who claims to pride themselves on customer service.

Hi Chloe, I can see multiple emails between us and yourself after your first negative review under the name ‘Chloe Smith’.
No orders were marked as dispatched until ready to go, however there has been slight delays in a small amount of parcels during this time with Royal Mail which unfortunately is not unusual.
After your previous issue we sent the part of your order which was available immediately and a free bag of lovely goodies which you were happy to accept. It is therefore incredibly sad to see in both your reviews it is claimed no contact was made by ourselves.
We are sorry your items were delayed this festive period, we have been very honest about the fallings behind we have had and have made many changes to make sure this never happens again.
We hope you have a good Christmas 🤶

Terrible service…

I adore Claybear and have been buying their clothes for nearly 6 years. All of their prints are gorgeous and the quality is brilliant and has lasted.

The customer service this time has been horrendous. I ordered Christmas clothes for my three little ones on 4th October. They’ve still not arrived despite a 6-8 week estimated delivery (which would have been delivered by 29 Nov).

As with other comments, no email or communication, just an expectation that I would have seen their stories (which I hadn’t). It’s completely unacceptable and there’s been no recognition or acceptance of responsibility. Trying to hide behind it being an estimated delivery. But it’s legally a misrepresentation. If you told your customers they’d be buying clothes to get a few days before Christmas, no-one would buy them.

I won’t ever be buying from them ever again!

Hi Katie,
I can see we have sent multiple emails to yourself and you have replied to these. The first of which being an email of apology that your order was going to be late with the right to cancel or wait to receive with the new date given. We did indeed dispatch this on the date given to yourself so my apologies again for any delays you may have received via Royal Mail so I am a little confused about this review.
We are sorry you have been disappointed this festive period and hope you have a wonderful Christmas

I'm so disappointed to be writing this…

I'm so disappointed to be writing this review as I absolutely love Claybear. I've been shopping with them for nearly two years, ordering atleast once a month and have spent hundreds of pounds with them. The quality of there clothing is amazing and it's all my son wears.

For pre orders there is an approximate 6-8 turn around which you are made aware of before you purchace. The team are usually on time with this but my Christmas pre order is now 2 weeks past this deadline, and with Christmas only a week away I still haven't recieved my order.

I emailed customer service at the start of the 9th week and was told it would be sent by the end of that week. I later that week recieved a generic email stating that the order would be sent within 7 days of that email. We're now going into the 11th week and they still haven't dispatched my order.

I will probably still continue to shop at claybear as their clothes are second to non, however I would only order ready to ship items going forward.

I just love this company!

I just love this company!! The family feel, the quality of the products, the connection they have with their customers. You really feel that they put their hearts and souls into everything they make.
The rebirth, although I was a little skeptical - I'm not a fan of change - has blown me away. The prints, the superior material, and the finish are all so worth the wait.
I'm loving following their open and honest journey on social media and wish them all the luck in the world as they continue to build.
Class and quality all the way.

I’ve been a customer of Claybear for 4…

I’ve been a customer of Claybear for 4 years now.. both my children have grown up in Claybear and as I hang on to the last year (or so) of my daughter being able to wear Claybear I wanted to write a review to share how amazing the clothes are.
It’s my go to company for gifting friends and family who are expecting babies, for birthdays or celebrations.. I love that you can buy the same item in more than a few sizes meaning siblings/cousins/friends can match! Their jumpers and tops are completely unbeatable and will always be a firm favourite of mine!

Emma has the best eye for designs and patterns and every item I’ve had, has exceeded expectations on arrival! They wear, wash and last so well! My two children are incredibly feral and I’ve yet to have an item I can’t save 😂 nothing shrinks in the first wash or looses its feel.

Thank you ClayBear for all the effort and time you put into this company so people like me can spend all their money on new clothes my child doesn’t need 😂🥰❤️

5* as always…

My sister and I travelled over an hour this morning to the claybear HQ to check out the £3 sale, we were there for nearly two hours going through everything they had, the staff were absolutely fabulous, kind, friendly and very happy to help.
Not only did they help with any questions regarding clothes, but they helped/ entertain my 2 year old son, and newborn nephew so my sister and I could get stuck in looking through the bargains.
I have been a claybear customer for two years now, and have never been anything but thrilled with my orders, the clothes are beautiful, and last such a long time. Can’t wait to see this years Christmas launch. Thank you to Emma and Rah for always being amazing!

Relaunch = poorer quality items.

Firstly I want to start this review with a positive experience of the customer service I experienced as coming on here I saw several negatives about the customer service but for me I thought it was very good, thank you Nichola.

I have been shopping with clay bear especially the LCC for several months now and absolutely loved the subscription option and waited excitedly each month to see what the pattern was. Augusts unfortunately for me was lost in the post, I received quick confirmation from customer service that it had been lost and they'd make a replacement. The turn around from confirmation to delivery was 2.5 weeks. It was the first item I had received since the relaunch and I was waiting before ordering anything else as I had heard the sizing was smaller but I hadn't heard how drastically smaller the items are now. My new 9-12 romper was smaller in the legs/crotch area than my previous 6-9 month items which is a drastic size difference. I fear it is shrinkflation at its finest charge the same or more and get significantly less. I mentioned this and Emma explained that many people including themselves had expressed that they didn't like the manufactured sizing so have returned to their original patterns. I personally find this really sad as I hadn't seen any negativity around the sizing infact I saw many pages and parents boasting on social media about the generous sizing as it meant the items lasted well past their 'size' and bigger/cloth bum babies fitted beautifully in them and having a chunky/tall cloth bum baby myself I loved the generous sizing and found ClayBear from a recommendation on a page for cloth bum babies. To date ClayBear was the only brand that fitted my LO the size of his actual age in the rompers. Looking through some of the 5* reviews on here several quote the generous sizing for their high reviews. Apparently the changes were addressed in social media stories but I didn't see them as I don't get all that much time to sit on social media so I feel a written post or a email could have addressed this for everyone to access at any point. I did ask for personal experience of big/cloth bum parents on the Facebook page of the new sizing so I could place an order for some Halloween items before the end of the 6-8 week turnaround time but for some reason my post was rejected. Part of me wonders if it's because other parents of bigger babies don't like the change and they were worried there would be negativity on the post and they obviously didn't want the negative feedback on their page?! But that is speculation as why else would they decline the post? The team did offer me customised orders which could be good for some people but I decided against because the quality of the item I received was not what I am used to from ClayBear and should really have only been good for the seconds/rejects bin and Emma did agree that some of the work on the item from photos I sent "wasn't to their usual standard". My worry is as far as I'm aware Emma is doing the sewing on her own she has stated on stories she's behind on September LCC orders I requested my cancellation for LCC on the 4th and received an email today 5th saying Septembers will be cancelled so they are significantly behind if it hasn't been sent out yet. When I ordered in the summer pre order I didn't receive my items until right at the end of the 6-8 week window and that was from the manufacturer so I'm really not sure how Emma will manage on her own and also have any quality of family personal life without getting burnt out and I do worry for her as I've seen many a business person try and save money by doing it all themselves and burning out/sending out poor quality items which is what I believe has happened with my replacement romper, I feel it was rushed and therefore that has significantly affected the quality of the work and if they're so behind on subs and orders I fear other people will receive subpar items. As the mistakes on my item where the overlocking continues away from the fabric and is rough at the end of seams on both sides/leg cuffs and as these sewing errors were on both sides of the romper to me it shows it is Emma's sewing style when rushed as if it was a one off it wouldn't be on both side seams/cuffs. The side seems are also thicker than previous and rough/sharp which will cause unnecessary friction to delicate skin.

Lastly and this is being very picky but I had the boys subscription and there was an awful lot of pink on it for a boys item. I know some people don't mind but personally I felt it was slightly overboard.

I wish ClayBear all the best in their relaunch and I really hope they find a balance/some extra staff to help with the sewing but for me right now the quality of the makes and sizing needs addressing before I will consider buying directly again.

Hi Charlotte, thank you for your time on emails today. I think it’s only right that I address some of your points as it seems the belief you have is a lot to do with money which is really not the case. I decided to start making in house for the opposite reason entirely, in fact I make a lot of less money now but my mental health is in a much better place, which was the main reason for the change. As explained on social media, it was this or close the business. All of our staff are mumma’s and after a busy summer holidays of trying to work and all prioritise our baby’s we are unfortunately a little behind.
Your post on the group was declined with feedback to say that there were already many threads discussing sizing, unfortunately we have many many posts everyday and filling up the group with threads of the same just ends in lots of frustration.
I did explain that the sizing won’t work for everyone’s child and I totally get that unfortunately you are one of these but there are also many customers who have come back to us after time of not shopping with us due to sizing, this was very expected and something we thought about in depth.
I did just want to say that most of the items, including your own are made and ready to go, with a total of about 20 rompers still to make. You however made it clear that you would like to cancel so I have approved your cancellation.
As I said in my email, I wish you all the best wherever you choose to shop and thank you for your custom up until now

Excellent Company

Claybear is a great company; you could say that it's the prints or the quality of the clothes, but actually, it's the team. It feels like a real family affair, and that's what I love about Team Claybear. They will always go the extra mile to help you if they can. AH

Vile customer service

Had to rewrite this review as for some reason it wasn't showing...
I've been shopping with Claybear for nearly 2 years, legit spent £1000 all adalyn roses wardrobe is 99% cb, the clothes have always been absolutely amazing, I was so excited for the REBIRTH but unfortunately I like many others haven't had a good start with the experience, my little cub club is missing for the second time, the first time I was told I could pick something else then when I did they said I couldn't emails where very contradictive.
After spending a considerable amount of money over the years on claybear clothing and there products I have come to the conclusion that they will no longer recieve a penny of my money. I fell in love with claybear due to the lovely prints and great quality, I am really disappointed in the way the company has gone down hill. The designs are repetitive, the customer service is shocking and can be rude, childish and abrupt, and if a certain member of staff doesn't like you she blockers you on everything . It appears your only picked for photoshoots if your the "IN" crowd. The prints have become repetitive and unfortunately I've seen the new style leggings and the fit isn't great on a non nappy wearing child, Your also not aloud an opinion or discussion about there services or products without them having outbursts on social media or being banned from the group 😂😂😂. They behave in a very unprofessional manner. And one member of staff well she's something else!! Her manor and tone is so unprofessional, she belittle you in public, makes sarcastic remarks and I honestly have no idea how she's still working in customer service well other than it being her sisters business or she probably wouldn't 🤔

UPDATE... since posting this I've been banned from their Facebook members group so petty and childish honestly 🤦 I definitely will not be returning now

Good evening Kelly, I think it’s clear from the amount of 5* reviews about customer service that Sarah provides great customer service to customers who treat her with the same respect. Having read some of the emails her and Nichola have had to deal with from a small minority I can see why some were not met with a lovely reply. I discussed privately with you why you had been removed from the group. We hope you find happiness in wherever you choose to buy your children’s clothes from.

Been shopping with Claybear since…

Been shopping with Claybear since January, we loved the prints but the way that they had worded it on their old website led me to believe that their prints were unique and handmade. Unfortunately this is not the case and I found out it's manufactured. They have now changed it to inhouse made which is great and I wish them all the luck with that. It does however mean there is a longer wait for items to be made and sent. The new patterns used for the leggings isn't great as it doesn't accommodate for those who are not in nappies and leaves the child with huge bagging bits in the front. The rompers are a lot smaller than their manufactured ones which isn't a problem but the legs and cuffs are sooooo tight now. The new inhouse ones the seams didn't line up on the cuffs with the legs which left it looking like it wasnt professionally done unfortunately!

The customer service received in the beginning was good, however the more I shopped with them the more rude and abrupt it became. A member of staff who calls herself "Rah" should definitely not be customer facing as she needs a lot of customer service training on how to talk to people without being so passive aggressive.

Their bodysuits and ribbed pj's are lovely but again they are made in China I think it is. Also the knitted jumpers are lovely. I did however receive a few that had dog hairs on them and with my child and partner being allergic to dogs it wasn't great! I didn't bother complaining as I had enough of rude responses.

I won't be spending any more money lining their pockets but I will buy the old manufactured products off vinted instead.

Good luck with your new business!

Hi Catherine, we did unfortunately expect your review after the others in your group reviewed recently. We are sorry to hear you are unhappy with the service and products you have received. We made it as clear as able that our products were manufactured by our wonderful UK manufacturer but this year we made the decision to go back to hand making them. The slim fit would be a much better pattern for a non nappy wearer. I am a little confused though as I can only see manufactured on your subscription so I’m not sure how I can help with this one unless you contact me.
We to have a staff member who is extremely allergic and have to be very careful regarding our clothes not containing any hair from our office dog (who has his own entrance, posh dog 🤣 and is NEVER allowed in the warehouse) or dogs from home but I will make sure all staff are reminded of this and would always encourage contacting us with any issues. If you are unhappy with the service provided I would always advise asking to speak to myself or David as the directors of the business. Thank you for your review and I wish you the best of luck wherever you choose to shop.

Fallen out of love

I fell in love with Claybear when I was pregnant however I am really disappointed in the way the company has gone down hill. The designs have become very repetitive and somewhat predictable. The new sizing is nothing like the standard sizing that some many people fell in love with, tight tight legs and incredibly baggy crutch isn’t a good look, the saying ‘ if something isn’t broke don’t try and fix it’ definitely applies to this!
The customer service isn’t always friendly and if you dare to question anything you are often responded to in a very rude and standoffish tone as if your opinion is wrong.

The LCC was advertised as an exclusive club with designs not available to other customers. This has now been proven to be a lie. The prints are widely available elsewhere.LCC subscription have also now been released for general Claybear customers to purchase so no exclusivity.LCC prints are again very predictable ‘safari animals, dinosaurs or flowers’.I was expecting bigger brighter things from LCC prints we wouldn’t normally see.Something bright, fun and not traditional Claybear. So after 10 months ended up cancelling.

There is only ever an option to comment positive feedback on social media. If you dare to share your opinion or discuss any issues you are often sent a private message/email arguing with your opinion and being spoken to in a very derogatory manor.

Until customer service is dealt with and maybe given some lessons in decorum and professionalism I won’t be returning.
