Liars and cheats, money grabbers, aweful products
Ordered a new Sofa. £1200 which I had to borrow. Looked lovely in the showroom.
Then after it was delivered the Arms are totally different shapes, the backs are filled with the kind of cheap rubbish akin to a £3 cheap pillow of hollow fibres. They are misshapen and never return to their original shape. They are lumpy, clumpy misshapen and the stitching is not even straight. The seats are some kind of really cheap sponge which just moulds under you and never returns to the original shape.
By Contrast our last sofa also cost £1200 and the cushions are the same shape as the day we bought it, and it is 7 years old.
Customer service sent out a "technician" who turned up 3 weeks later at 0730 in the morning after arranging a visit at 0815.. All he did was take out the cheap filling, weigh it and leave! Now we receive a letter stating the sofa is in good condition and I should consider unzipping all the cushions (it even took the technician 15 minutes to do this complicated exercise) and plumping them up!
SHOULD YOU HAVE TO DO THIS TO A NEW SOFA??? Just to then find the cheap rubbish they fill it with goes out of shape and lumpy and clumpy the moment to sit down again.
This is probably the worst experience we have ever had with a company who claim to have A1 products and customer services. They are liars and cheats, and I am stuck with a 2-bit sofa that I paid a small fortune for.
Appalling customer service
Appalling customer service, it’s like they are not interested/can’t be bothered. If you can find what you are after elsewhere, I would strongly advise you to do just that!
Bought some furniture from the Childen…
Bought some furniture from the Childen Oak range. Beware, some of it is oak veneer and it is supplemented with pine. On delivery every item had some form of damage on it, do C&B have a QA function, I very much doubt it. Customer service has been impeccable, replacement items have been (sadly they arrived damaged too), and the delivery drivers are very polite, but I am afraid that this is my first and last purchase from C&B; reluctantly I will use the big brand names in future as they sell items of similar inferior quality, only a hell of a lot cheaper.
UPDATE
Have to say, C&B responded to this post and I was very impressed with their desire to please the customer. James Denston from Customer Services explained the reason why furniture has a veneer blend, it made sense and actually persuaded me to favour it over solid oak (and it wasn't a sales pitch). I have to say James went over and above to satisfy me and we reached an amicable solution. So a situation can be recovered and we both felt that we learned something from this experience. Well done C&B.
Bought a dining table on 3 March and…
Bought a dining table on 3 March and paid in full for delivery at the end of April. April came and went and I have chased 5 times with no-one getting back to me on 4 occasions. On the 5th occasion someone responded out of hours to apologise and said that get back to me the next day. I’m still waiting. I thought I would give my business to an independent in such trying times, wish I’d gone to John Lewis!
Not Happy At All.
Bought a sofa which lost its shape, become very uncomfortable and was ugly to look at Visited store to be told it’s a sofa that needs regular fluffing and effort to reshape the cushions. That was not mentioned at the time as I guarantee we would not have bought it if we’d known.
Went to a professional upholsterer who’s opinion was that the cushion covers were poorly constructed and that the foam inside was cheap and weak.
2-3 weeks ago a technician was sent to examine the sofa.
He said the covers had stretched and did not fit the foam inside and that he would recommend they are replaced.
Weeks later with no communication, a single replacement cushion cover arrived at our house.
100% will not shop here again, poor product, poor sales advice (lack of information that the sofa will need constant attention to keep shape) and poor after sales care.
My parents were about to spend over £3000 on their new sofa, not now.
Fuming
within a few weeks.
