It's been two months and I never received my cash back. The customer help has disappeared

Reply from RetailMeNot
I have made 25 purchases in Sept alone and I haven't gotten one penny. On my rewards page it shows all the dates of my purchases but under money earned, it shows nothing. It used to show 22 dollars but that has vanished. I am beyond frustrated with this. I couldn't find an email for customer service.
Can someone contact me?
Thank you,
Carole

I have SEVERAL missing cash back transactions that haven't been paid out and it's been well over 45 days. However, RMN conveniently disabled their "Help" link to contact them about missing cash back. There's no other way to contact them about it. Until they resolve this, I'm NOT using them to make anymore purchases even though they usually have higher cash back rates than Rakuten. Rakuten on the other hand has been honest despite their lower payouts. You can also contact them the next day about your transaction rather than wait 45 days with RMN (which they obviously do so you'll forget about the purchase).

Horrible company! I have reached out many times over the past several months and no response!! I never get the verification code to my email in order to redeem my rewards to my paypal account. I have tried and tried, and the email verification code doesn't come. Other emails come to me from them, so I know they are not blocked! Cash I can use has just been sitting in my account! No one from retailmenot ever responds!!

This company is out to steal your money, it’s a shame there is no way of giving negative stars on this review.
I was using their cashback web app on small online purchases and regularly getting the cashback transfer via Paypal. So far, so good, until I made a large purchase, which resulted in them retaining my funds under the pretext it was "Ineligible due to suspected violation of Terms".
Guess what? I contacted the vendor from which I purchased the products and they confirmed to me that they did not flag the order at all and that the cashback amount was indeed PAID to the related account, which means, Retailmenot under their OWN DISCRETION decided to subtract the funds from my account and keep the money for themselves. If this is not stealing, then I don’t know what it is.
I would never ever recommend Retailmenot to anyone, they don’t even clearly display an email address to contact customer support on their website and the web link they provide to do so doesn't work!
You would be much better served by Rakuten, RebatesMe or Active Junky, as they offer the same rates but are honest companies, you’ll never have any trouble with them.

They claim to offer great cashback rates, but that is easy to do when you never track or pay cashback. Will be going back to more established cashback sites moving forward.

First experience with this site and can't even get that right. They will do what they can to not give you your rewards. Claiming my first purchase is "Ineligible due to suspected violation of Terms."
Many other better options for purchase rewards, never have issues with Rakuten. Guess I will be continuing using them for future purchases.

I have been using RMN for years and have no issues redeeming my rewards until it is a large amount. The $5-10 deposits to my Venmo account instantly but $30 and up I always have to try to contact customer service which is a failure because I can never get anyone on the phone and those chatbots on the app and website are useless. Then they make you email them your issue and nobody responds for weeks! That's just bad business!!

Updated Review: Expedia was activated when making my purchase! Other companies take care of their customers like Rakuten, never any issues.
I’ve been using retail me not for several
Years and whenever I have a large purchase I make sure I use one of my cashback apps. I recently made a large purchase through Expedia.com I was suppose to receive 10% back. What retail me not doesn’t let you know is that transactions take a long time to process. I noticed that nothing was pending and contacted them with my receipt and my concern. The customer service manager “Jaime” was unhelpful and said I’m basically out of luck for that purchase. I use Rakuten and every time there is an issue they ask for my receipt and credit my account for the cashback I’ve earned for using their app/website. RetailMeNot and Jaime, the unhelpful manager, need to do better and take care of their customers. How hard is it to process cashback that your website states that you will get back when making purchases? Please do better

I have been using RMN for several years but don't seem to be getting rewards. In particular, DoorDash and InstaCart, where I spend the most online money, don't seem to be working together. I use Instacart every week for grocery shopping as I am partially disabled.
This morning I got the following email:
As of August 22nd, your RetailMeNot Cash Back account associated with email xxx, with a current balance of $9.95, will have been inactive for 365 days or more.
Starting August 22nd, your wallet will be subject to a $2 monthly reduction to reflect maintenance fees. If your balance is less than $2, maintenance fees will not draw the account balance below $0. But don’t worry, there’s still time to keep all your earnings!
Cash out your RetailMeNot Wallet balance via Paypal or Venmo before August 22nd and your money will be safe and sound in your bank account. Cashing out today or making a new cash back-eligible purchase will prevent this and further maintenance fees from being deducted for another year.
WTH???
I took out cash one time, and that was it. I suggest you all check your balances before continuing to use them and check your email and balances to make sure you are getting credits for what you buy.

I recently had a terrible experience with RetailMeNot that I feel compelled to share. I made a purchase of a standing desk from FlexiSpot for $466.44 on June 3rd, expecting to receive 8% cashback, which should have been around $34.56. On June 5th, I received an email from RetailMeNot stating that FlexiSpot had verified my purchase and that my cashback was on its way, expected by July 18th.
However, July 18th came and went with no cashback. When I checked the app after returning from vacation, I saw that my account was marked as ineligible. I contacted their customer support, only to receive a vague response that my account had been suspended due to "suspicious activity" that violated their terms of service. They provided no specific details on what I did wrong.
The support process was a nightmare. The automated phone system directed me to email or fill out a form, and I had to wait 7-10 business days for a response. After providing all the necessary documentation, including my receipt and order confirmation from FlexiSpot, I was informed by Jamie, a Customer Excellence Manager, that my account would remain suspended.
The lack of transparency and the refusal to provide a clear reason for my suspension is infuriating. It's evident from other Trustpilot reviews that I'm not alone in this experience. Many users have faced similar issues with their accounts being suspended for no apparent reason.
I encourage everyone to read the reviews from JH, who had a nearly identical experience at Walmart, and Sean Ma, who also mentioned similar issues with account suspension (see the reviews below mine). Their stories confirm that this is a widespread problem with RetailMeNot.
I urge everyone to avoid RetailMeNot. Their cashback program is a scam, and their customer service is unhelpful and opaque. I could have used other cashback services like Rakuten or Capital One Shopping, but I chose RetailMeNot and deeply regret it.
Jamie and Johnathan, if you read this, know that your poor handling of this situation has cost RetailMeNot a customer for life.
Before RetailMeNot tries to put some generic response below my review saying to reach out and appeal or that they'll be in touch, be aware that I've already tried to appeal. The only way I want to hear from them, and the only way I'll update my review, is if someone with actual authority at the company contacts me and gets me my cashback. Until then, this review stands as is.
EDITED 08/08/2024: As I anticipated, RetailMeNot has once again provided an unsatisfactory response, offering only vague references to a "third-party vendor" and remaining as unhelpful and unspecific as possible. Despite my attempts to clarify what exactly is wrong with my account, they have not provided any concrete details or explanations.

I purchased items from Walmart after activating a cash back offer. Then I received emails from RetailMeNot saying that Walmart notified them of purchases and they issued pending cash back to my account. For some unknown reason however, all the cash back was deleted and my account was suspended - termed "ineligible." There was no further explanation. I did not return any items and bought them in good faith, believing in the cash back offer, which I now know was bogus. In other words, like others' reviews, my account was closed and cash back deleted without giving any information on why. I am a senior, have perfect credit, and have never been accused of anything before and certainly never had my account inactivated. Legally, the details have to be given the accused. This is classic bait and switch and I will be notifying my attorney and the FTC for further action.

I had a $11.70 balance. I got no emails notifying me of my balance until it was down to $3.65. You must have $5 to withdraw. It’s difficult to get there since most offers are bogus, which is why I stopped using it and forgot my balance. The email notifying of the low balance was when I learned of a $2 monthly maintenance fee that had used up the rest of my balance. The fees and bogus offers and restrictions on when you can withdraw tge balance makes it a complete waste of time. Don’t bother with this scam.

They refuse to let me cash out. Everytime I try I get "Your request could not be accommodated at the time. Please try again later". Ive been trying this for 4 days. Their support is absolutely worthless. They keep placing the blame on me when I know that my computer works just fine. It takes an hour to get their "code" and by the time you get it its no longer viable. I guess its small claims time. Sadly. Maybe we can get a class action going since I see so many people having the same problems. If my lawyer is interested, Ill have him post his contact info here.

Worthless service. Made a $50 purchase via Target. Earned only $1 from it. I go back a few days later for another purchase and found it marked "Ineligible due to suspected violation of Terms." Are you kidding me? This is the first time I used their site. Are they so cheap that they can't ignore $1 rewards?
Save your time. They don't pay out anything.

I agree with the other reviewers. Coupons will be listed or said no codes needed. But upon checkout it will not be there. This happened many times throughout the years. Now I am starting to wonder if I should just stick with Rataken

they will close your account if you earned a significant amount of Cashback. They will just tell you you've violated the terms and conditions, but when you ask about the violations, they will not tell you which specific terms you've violated, your account will be closed and all cash back will be reversed. Simply stay away and look for other Cashback options.

I had been using RMN for years for coupon codes. Finally, I decided to give the app a go and try their cash back program. Through my confusion with the process - apparently I placed an order through the wrong browser tab - RMN suspended me from the program without notification, and when I inquired, they had the audacity to more or less accuse me of suspicious activity during a “security review.” Wow. I erroneously placed an order, and now I’m a security threat? This is not how you do business, by belittling and accusing an average user of something so offensive. No doubt the most infuriating online experience I’ve ever had.

Suckered in with a fake coupon! Clicked through and followed directions, but it didn't work. The company that the coupon was supposed to be for confirmed that it was a fake and the site that claimed to be offering a coupon for them was lying to generate traffic for themselves. Fraudulent business practice. I have screenshots and a chat transcript from the company confirming that RetailMeNot is making fraudulent offers for their company that do not exist and that they do not authorize.
