One of the worst airlines
I am very disappointed with Copa Airlines. I’ve had a few flights with them lately, they are fine on short distance, but absolutely horrible long-haul. I’d understand their low standard if it was a budget airline, but their flights certainly weren’t cheap.
I had a 7hour flight from Panama to Las Vegas. There was only one meal, no snacks, as you’d get with most airlines. But what was shocking is that they don’t have any special meals. As a vegetarian I couldn’t select vegetarian meal in advance, assuming they’d have a veggie option during the flight. How wrong was I! The two options they had was beef and chicken. Just as well I had the sense and bought something (overpriced) at the airport, so I wasn’t left starving the whole flight. I was very disappointed though, at this day and age special meals should be automatically included. There is more and more people vegans, gluten free, and sadly they are not catered for with Copa Airlines.
Their staff doesn’t seem to be well trained or have basic customer service skills either. Felt like they selected a few spare people at the airport, threw them into the plane to act as stewards. One was walking around and shouting like he was at a market stall, the other two seemed to be more interested in sharing their personal lives than us as paying customers.
And another shocking part of the flight was that there are no screens on seats. For a long-haul flight. The only option was to connect to their Wifi, which was free for the entertainment channel, and watch it on the phone. With own earphones. Which was hard since I needed to charge my phone and had only wired earphones with me.
The government in Panama is trying to entice tourists to visit their country, promoting it everywhere, but they should first look at their main airline. I wouldn’t go back to Panama if I had to fly with them again.
I travel with Coba airlines from Toronto to Bogotá business class return …
I travel with Coba airlines from Toronto to Bogotá 7 January to 10 January 2025 in business class.
First thing: I wasted my money.
Second thing: lounge at airports very basic, services at flights basic too foot drinks more like economy class.
I do travel a lot between Australia,Asia and Europe and always in business class.
I never seen anything like that. Wast of money.
Advice: don’t travel in business class. Travel economy only with Coba airlines.
Horrible
Horrible, they don't even deserve a 1 as score.
Not only do they have a horrible support service, they charge very high prices for "Economic Basic" travels, expensive even inside the same country and slowly but surely they keep removing features on basic tickets.
A year ago (2023) we were able to select seats for example and only pay for a seat if it was a good spot.
Now seats cannot be selected anymore and you have to PAY to be able to have the check-in complete.
Now the company gives you random seat and generates your check-in 4 hours before departure because you don't want to pay extra for a simple SEAT SELECTION.
SCAMMERS, HORRIBLE company, horrible service, I'm a long time ConnectMiles client, If I could choose another company even for internal flights, I'll choose another one.
How can the government and people of Panama allow these people to provide such a horrible service is beyond me.
Terrible airline
Terrible airline, spent days on the phone and emailing customer service. Zero problem solving skills, zero service. Went to the airport to try solve in person and were even more useless than the people on the phone
Don’t bother with this airline if you actually want to get to your destination

My family has been using Copa for 30 years, but after this last trip, we're done!
When we went to the check-in counter for the second leg of our return trip, they gave us a boarding pass for a flight going to a DIFFERENT CITY without telling us. I didn't notice until we got to the gate. I asked for help 3 times before we were directed to the other end of the very large Tocumen Airport.
I had to push my mother's wheelchair with one hand while rolling my carryon with the other, because all the assistants were helping to board passengers. At the help desk, the agent said I should go back to the gate we just left and take a taxi from Orlando to Tampa. ?!
I demanded a boarding pass for Tampa. She said we'd have to come back the next day. This resulted in an additional $146 we had to spend on taxis and a hotel. Copa said they owe us nothing, because it was all due to weather. Note to Copa: Changing our destination WITHOUT TELLING US isn't due to weather.
We've been home since November 20th. Today, I received an email from Copa telling us to get ready for a flight that had been rescheduled back on November 14th. I called. The rep told me that *I* would have to work it out with the airports involved. ?! I asked to speak to a supervisor. After over an hour on hold, I gave up. If Copa tries to charge my card, I'll dispute it.
Do yourself a favor, and pay a little more for a better airline.
Copa Air baggage handlers…
Baggage claim in punta cana airport dominican republic for cooa air opened my locked bag and stole from it
I bought a flight that I want to change
I bought a flight, it was easy, but trying to change it is a whole different story, I first tried to do it online, but it said I had to get in touch with them and it prompted me to another site with information per country, I searched for the UK but they don’t have a way to contact them in the UK, the address stated I checked and it looks like it’s a PO BOX, I emailed and no replies.
Don’t attempt to book a flight with them.
I even tried to make a claim on the website naively, one of the questions was my ticket number, it was a mandatory question and I have not received an email with this information, I have heard of this company and it’s been going on for years, but the question is how has it survived with this terrible system?
WORST AIR COMPANY EVER BJF50T
I booked a flight to caracas, they canceled and then moved a flight which made me miss the connection I had paid for (reported it they said it was none of their business because the airline was not run by them). A week before the flight everything is suspended because of problems with Venezuela and they tell me it's not up to them but they can't do anything (as if it was up to me! Who provides the service?) I ask San Jose for a solution and they can't find it, in the meantime in order not to lose my reservations I arrange out of my own pocket for a flight that uses their connection to panama and from there diverts to Colombia. In Panama I go to point out the solution so that assistance will provide a solution, but they tell me that I have to call my travel agent, when my agent said that the flights are handled by the company. In addition to the financial damage the hoax, they put a label on my suitcase with “Voluntary Removal.” And will there ever be a person responsible for the cancellation of flights to and from Venezuela? Change the job you are ridiculous. I demand a refund of what I spent and I will sue for all the additional expenses due to your bad organization.
Outstanding Service and Warm Hospitality!
Flying with Copa Airlines in business class for the first time was an exceptional experience, and our flight attendant, Mauro, truly made it special. From the moment we boarded, Mauro went above and beyond to ensure my wife and I were comfortable and well looked after. His attention to detail and personalized approach made us feel we made the right choice.
What stood out the most was Mauro’s warmth and his genuine passion for his country, Panama. Knowing it was our first visit to Panama City, he took the time to recommend must-visit spots and local experiences that would make our trip memorable. His insights on the best restaurants, scenic places, and cultural highlights helped us plan an itinerary that made our stay in Panama an unforgettable experience.
This experience with Mauro and Copa Airlines was superb from start to finish. We felt not only well-served but also welcomed into Panama with warmth and genuine care. We can’t wait for our next flight with Copa Airlines. Thank you, Mauro, for your exceptional service!
Excellent on time
Excellent on time , great advice, great attitude, great attention all the stuff.
I’m not one for leaving bad reviews
I’m not one for leaving bad reviews. However, this one I feel warranted. I was traveling from Colombia to The USA. I am not a luxurious person at all, but I ended up paying more for my flight, like 300 dollars more so I could have a trip of roughly 8 hours versus multiple layovers and many hours in between (some flights 12-24 hours) so I paid more for the 8 hour total trip.
I also bought insurance.
Well, there was a rain delay in Colombia for about an hour and a half. No problem, can’t control the weather.
Well, they told me I’d make it to my connecting flight so no worries. Then I get to Panama connecting flight and I check the gate, it’s in terminal two (I’m in terminal one) and the screen says that it is last call, so I do what anyone else would I start to sprint with my carry on and this airport is super long and not the best layout in my opinion, but I sprinted so fast (as fast as I could) and well you guessed it, after like 10-15 of running I missed my flight. - well no big deal it happens…
Except the fact that when they gave me a flight for the following day, they didn’t offer any accommodation, and I asked and they said I could go to copa lounge where they would charge me to stay, which was a huge turn off.
I am not one to complain, but I spent more to get somewhere faster, and I didn’t get there, that’s fine but they didn’t offer anything to accommodate the time. I also know they can’t control the weather but they didn’t even apologize. Not a simple sorry you missed your flight. Then they walked away after the gate closed. Now I’m paying 80 bucks for a 12 hour lounge. It could be worse but I guess I’m just very disappointed with how it was handled.
Probably won’t fly with them, will choose Latam next time or some other company unfortunately.
Booking fees in Brazil
Copa airline web site says the cost to issue a ticket through the booking call center is 0$ in Brazil.
Well... when you actually contact the call center, the agent is charging you 25$ to issue a ticket.
and don't even try to explain the sales agent that it should be free of charge as per the company website, people over there are so narrow minded that you will loose your time.
Copa condones computer theft
My son traveled to San Juan and their ground staff broke the lock off his suitcase and stole his laptop.he immediately claimed and showed them .today I get this
Good Afternoon,
We are writing to you on behalf of Copa Airlines San Juan Airport. We are writing to follow up on your case number SJU13074. We have evaluated your case in detail with the Baggage Services team, and we inform you that damage to your luggage, according to Copa Airlines policies, does not apply for compensation. We attach the same in case of doubts. Once again, we regret the inconvenience. Thank you.
So according to them if they steal and cover up the staff .it's on you
Crap airline avoid if posible it will ruin ypur carribean holiday
Rude service
I hate being a hater online but Copa airlines really sucks. I travel a lot and I know that a longer flight is going to cost more than a shorter one, but for the price I paid this was terrible value.
The staff were so rude, throughout. From the ckeck-in counter in Miami to the flight attendants.
I wouldn't fly them again.
Worst airline in the Americas
My goodness, what a terrible, terrible airline.STARALLIANCE Top Tier here. No Wi-Fi not even in business class. Food was really not good, bland , and tasteless. That airline lounge in Rio de Janeiro was closed. So we had to use premium Plaza launch, which was literally deeply drowning in their own filth . Once arriving in Panama, we had to cross literally through all of the airport to get our connection flight to Mexico. The miserable lounge in Panama City is another piece of work. No showers in one lounge, but telling me the ones(showers) in the other lounge are working but over there they had no towels. Dirty seats, cheap Prosecco and backpackers sleeping on the sofas. That happens when you open the lounges for priority pass. I would never in my whole life take this airline again.
Terrible!!
Copa is a convenient airline when traveling in north, central and South America; however, their customer service are extreme scammers . They will try their hardest to steal money out of you for any type of situation. I’m so sick of this airline!! I am literally thinking to file a lawsuit, because they seriously need to be investigated. I am so confused by their system, lack of support and thievery. DO NOT FLY EITH THEM UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO.
Copa Airlines
For the first time I wanted to show my 15 year old son a trip with a stopover from Santo Domingo to Miami with a stopover in Panama. Punctuality 10/10, service on the plane (food, etc.) 6/10. aviation entertainment 6/10. What I value most is punctuality, so your passion for leaving and arriving on time was excellent. Copa is an airline that has traveled for work for +10 years (+30 trips per year) and has never suffered delays. For those who value time it is perfect 10/10, for those who value flight experience 6/10.
My refund/cancellation experience
I have always been happy with Copa before, but they changed their policy so that I had to pay an extra ticket to fly with my dog.
I went ahead to request a refund, which was included as I had paid extra for it. But to process the refund I need to wait almost 3 months, which sounds preposterous considering that normal companies process refunds in a few days. The email said:
"Refund request sent successfully
You can check the status of your request through copa.com, in the refund section and by selecting the 'Check status' option.
We will being evaluating your application within the next 21 days. If approved, it may take up to two statements for your request to be processed."
Customer support could not do anything (of course) and just said their hands are tied.
Copa airline is horrible.
Copa airlines is horrible. First, they charged us extra when checking in. Then, our youngest son almost lost his seat. So basically when you buy a seat, it’s not guaranteed. Then, they lost a bag worth 2,000 worth of stuff. Customer service is of no help. We have not received payment or even a phone call from Copa airlines. Do not fly Copa.
