Engaged Cordony Constructions to undertake alterations and additions to our home. Fair Trading building inspectors issued 3 rectification orders containing multiple examples of defective work. When Cordony failed to rectify, matter went to NCAT.
In Anderson v Gold Emporium Pty Ltd trading as Cordony Constructions [2022] NSWCATCD 110, the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal found that the respondent builder failed to meet statutory warranty requirements under the Home Building Act, including failure to carry out building work in accordance with plans and applicable standards. The Tribunal issued work orders for rectification and awarded costs against the builder.
