VERY POOR SERVICE

I went to Kelvin Grove PN supermarket at about 8pm last night to do full weekly shop. When I arrived at the checkout, there was not one checkout open and I had no choice but to use the self serve checkout. There was a time in the not too distant past that one could not use the self serve checkout to do large shop. I set up my bags and machine beeped and needed assistance. I scanned milk and it beeped again. The very nice young employee did assist and when I vented my frustration about the poor service, he offered to assist. I suggested he do the lot and stood back. He was very good, helpful and polite and he continued to scan my shopping. HOWEVER, I did feel obliged to point out to him that the service was extremely poor, self scanning a fully trolley is not easy and, bearing in mind the cost of groceries (not to mention the expensive fruit that when you get home is half rotten) together with the massive profit made by the supermarket, I did point out to him, very clearly how annoyed I was that at least one teller was not on duty to assist. Surely Countdown/Woolworths with the profits they have can afford ONE person on the checkout to scan groceries through at not so busy times.

I’m very disappointed that the bakery…

I’m very disappointed that the bakery no longer supplies Wholemeal and Grain bread (Wholemeal flour 90%) a very healthy option. The alternative appears to be Wholemeal bread which only contains 45%Wholemeal flour, which is less than some other brands. This is a step backwards and is it a reflection of other products that Woolworths will now be supplying. Clearly not interested in providing affordable healthy options.

Service is terrible!!

Service is terrible!!! Standing at the lotto counter while the staff member completely ignores me until they deem themselves ready to serve me.
Incentive to shop and Pak n Save when Auckland.
Poor service and overpriced compared with Pak n Save!

Avoid Countdown RedwoodTown

Avoid Countdown RedwoodTown! Their 'customer service' is absolutely TOXIC!
Rude, unhelpful, generally make the customer feel like an unwanted burden.
God help you if you're disabled and not able to use the self checkout - they sure won't.
Maybe customers can unload the truck too in future?
AVOID!!!

Bad food, poor management,!

Tired of getting bad food! Countdown Dargaville is a bloody disgrace! I feel for the staff here who are always ran off their feet, they try so hard even though they are always understaffed. They are very caring and friendly but clearly there are issues with the franchise owners and how they just take the people of Dargaville for granted who have no other options to buy groceries apart from a small superette. So far in the last 18 months. I have had an exploding pumpkin, slimy beans, stale bagged salad, Pork that was covered in black hairs and reeked, 3 lots of mouldy cheese and yesterday fish stinking of amonia. Where I realize that they have a refund policy it does not make up for the time driving back to the store nor the fuel used especially if one lives 15 klm away! Yesterday there was not a skerrig of any bakery products as they had no baker available and again a whole section of freezers broken down. Come Christmas, the people of Dargaville scramble to get goods as Coundown don't plan for the extra traffic due to the traveller's coming through. This particular store has an issue with the food storage proceedures and staff shortages and it certainly is not being addressed. Let's hope that one day, the overseas rivals such as Aldi manage to break the duopoly we now have and enter NZ, our groceries would be 40 percent cheaper! In as far as Countdown spending millions just to change their name,. a dam disgrace when so many are suffering with extortional prices. Just remember that during Covid they lost NOTHING. Infact themselves and New World had a complete united monopoly with the small butchers, vegie shops and other retailers who sold food locked out of opening!
Shame on this government for doing that and shame on you for putting share holders infront if the people!!

Went to Countdown Botany yesterday…not amused

Went to Countdown Botany yesterday 7/09/23, as I walked in there's a bin with RASPBERRY TRIFLE in it, it looked yum so I bought a container. I gave some to my granddaughter 7years old and to my daughter 8 months pregnant , they both took a spoonful and spat it out, I said what's wrong they said taste it, omg, the sugar content was so high, it was like the chystals of some sort had not dissolved, I could grind them between my teeth, absolutely disgusting, first time I had to complain. Other than that I love Countdown Botany.

Countdown Hornby

Countdown Hornby. Lady at the till checkout annoyed that I showed up, braking the conversation she was having with another staff member. My goods was simply piled up not packed in bags I asked for at the start. I packed my own bags and trolley whilst other customers was waiting getting anoyed. Thought that Pack and Save was where you do your own packing and thats fine by me as Pack and Save is set up for that. Guess I will go to New World in the future as I have found their staff to be always professional.and helpfull. Not lazy and obviously annoyed when they need to do what they are there for. Quality of the goods also not what to used to be.

Your loyalty card

Your loyalty card, the one card, why on Gods green earth can I pay for my groceries by tapping my phone at the terminal , but have to have the physical card to get the rewards and or discount? Why can’t we scan it from Stocard like ALL other stores? Maybe don’t spend $400m on rebranding, get your card right first!!

I went to countdown Bayfair to get some fish

I went to countdown Bayfair to get some fish the counter had some snapper fillets but were priced as salmon fillets.i tried to explain to the girl behind the counter that they were snapper not salmon but she could only point at the price tag so I gave up and took the snapper/salmon fillets for $49/kg. Not very good to have people who do not know the product they are selling

SPECIALS on Countdown's app

Every Monday, I like to check what specials are on my countdown app for the whole week. Usually, I try to get discount food on Monday morning.

This week, I saw Watties snack meals, usually $5 per box, but this week they were only $2.90 per box, so I got them on Monday, but then I went back again on Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning, and the shelves in the freezer were empty for Watties snack meals as the previous day, and it seems the employees didn't top up the stock on the special items.especially when the food products have a big discount.

Why's that? It seems like misleading advertising. It's only halfway through the week, but there's nothing on the shelf in the freezer for discounted frozen food, as advertised on the countdown app (price valid till Sunday, August 6, 2023).

It's so disappointing 😔☹️😞. What's the point of putting the item on special in the countdown app while there's no stock, even at the beginning of the week? Is it fair for customers who try to cut down on food costs by keeping an eye on app when there's nothing on the shelves? It happened often in the countdown Metro Auckland.

Dear manager, please help to solve this matter, so customers will be happy with the promise on countdown app. Thank you.

Countdown Te Rapa

Uselly the staff at this countdown are good. But on Wednesday my daughter bought her groceries. The till operator chatted too her friend the whole time. She closed her till and walked away too chat with the other group of workers WHILE she was packing her own stuff! Disgusting!
I too previously waited at the self checkout for help , while the young staff sat on the silver railings chatting in a big group. What happened too this Countdown!!!!!

Short dated and out of date stock timaru showgrounds

This is a lovely store and could be much better.
It is not except-able to have to check sell by dates and best before dates of products as you shop! I have been stung a few times with out of date/ short dated products. This time it was a tin of boss ice coffee. BBF date tomorrow ‘ wow a full day !!!
This is not good management and stock rotation. I won’t be eager to grocery shop here again.

Countdown Northcote

Sometimes I shop at Countdown Northcote but on Saturday 08 July 2023 around 5pm ridiculous long queues, this place need to be investigated. This place is poorly managed. The staff Kim, Mel, LuLu, Sue and more staff which I don’t remember their name generally are nice and friendly.
I feel for the poor staff, they were forced to work hard under pressure of short staff. No self checkout(s). The whole store only 2 checkouts were opened, the operator and the duty person. I saw people walked out (stealing). I stood in the queue about 5-10minutes waiting. The man operator I think his name is Ryan deserve a good reward.

On the evening of Sunday 9th July 2023…

On the evening of Sunday 9th July 2023 @ about sometime after 19:00pm

I walked into Greerton Countdown,Tauranga store for something to eat as I was starving and needed something quickly. As I'm pregnant and unable to hold anything down except for some Greek yoghurt,I quickly popped in to get a tub. As I got to the checkout with 3 items and with only one other person ahead of me in line,I realised I hadn't brought enough money. I thought I had pulled out a 20 but realised too late it was only a $10 note. As I've mentioned before I am heavily pregnant and cannot move as fast as I would like so put the other items down except for the yoghurt. To have returned it would have taken forever with the items I had found literally in the back and last aisle of the store. I had another person behind me at that point and my partner waiting in the car outside wanting to get to his dinner. So instead of wasting everyone's time going all the way to return the items and then all the way back at my current speed it was logical to just leave the the 2 remaining items at the till.
At that moment the cashier shouted at me not to leave things there, that I can't do that and demanded I pass it to her. She then grabbed the items out of my hand with the most disgusting attitude and then proceeded to rudely rip the $10 note out of my hand when trying to pay. I then quietly asked if she is accustomed to grabbing everything out of customers hands in such a rude fashion and she responded with a disgusting "WHAT!?". I didn't respond. Except, had other staff including the duty manager (who was standing right there looking directly at me while this cashier handed the items to her to be returned)starring while the cashier complained about me in a manner intended to belittle and demean me.
This person is of Moari descent and I am a foreigner. She didn't treat the Kiwi person in front of me with the same disgusting attitude and rudeness.
With other staff starring at me as I walked away the cashier who attended to me continued to say things as I walked away and out of the store.

I walked out,got my phone and returned to the store. As I entered, the person I'm reporting was leaving for the night, saw me and quickly turned her back. I could not find the manager. So took another walk around and asked for the manager. Turns out the manager on duty was the person who had witnessed the incident and did nothing. When I complained she tried to avoid saying she was the manager on duty however listened to my complaint. She then said to make a complaint with the store manager Roselind who was not on duty. She also said she would have a talk with the cashier but the woman had already left and she had every opportunity to hold her accountable within the time from when the incident occured to when I entered the store twice more after. The cashier's name was said to be Levinia and the person I spoke to did not give her name but I think her badge said Meghan. Not sure though.

I've had enough of watching others and also being at the receiving end of this bully culture in NZ especially toward foreigners. I've also noticed that the staff at this particular store have no customer service training. If they do it's very poor. I am trained in business management and have been a manager in different spheres and types of business and have NEVER treated a patron/customer or client in such poor fashion even if they were wrong or difficult. Countdown near Greerton need to train and most certainly need to hold staffers who abuse, demean or humiliate customers accountable instead of passing the buck when confronted. Levinia you're a miserable, bitter and disgusting individual especially that you would mistreat a pregnant woman who obviously couldn't move as fast or hold up other customers by not being able to return Items she could not afford. Shame on you and the company you represent! I shouldn't have to return items anyway! I'm not looking for for pity being pregnant but surely anyone with an ounce of integrity and half a brain could understand my predicament at the time regardless. Poor, disgusting service!
