Ordered a cake for my son's bday via milk run in Levin and had allow substitutions on, got no cake at all. Even though it showed all cakes available. Absolutely useless that they can't even include a... See more

Went to buy a wine to go with dinner
Went to buy a wine to go with dinner, had the server ask for my Id (I'm 39 and look it) I smile and show it to her, she asked to see the back, thought this was odd, show her. Then asked for my 30 year old brothers Id as well. I explain I am buying the wine not my brother. Refuses to sell a 39 year old..WITH ID a bottle of WINE COUNTDOWN TAKAPUNA..I am a local and will not be doing my groceries with you again after being treated so ridiculously
Frozen deli purchase
I purchased a fresh quiche from the deli last night at Countdown Nelson to eat before a meeting and was horrified to find it was frozen inside! For $7.50 I was well and truly ripped off when the food is supposed to be freshly prepared and ready to eat. Countdown supermarkets have been struck off my shopping list!
Online ordering service could be much better
Did online order arrived and meat missing and easter eggs missing for my children but been charged for this.Queried with store supervisor who told me to ring 0800 number to get my money refunded, would not give me goods from the store....sat on phone for 20 mins on hold what a waste of my long weekend....bad attitude from supervisor not even an apology.....
I ordered an online shop for Easter…
I ordered an online shop for Easter originally for delivery but we changed to pick up. We picked up in a rush as we had a ferry to catch. The young man who delivered the trolley to us did not realise there was a second trolley. We were packing the car together and didn’t realise things we’re missing. A very apologetic customer service officer rang us. We were en route to the ferry and couldn’t come back. The customer service officer drove the groceries from Silverdale to Sandspit on Good Friday on her way to go on holiday herself, got the missing items ti the ferry, paid the shipping fee and we now have Easter Eggs for the children. Very very grateful. The mistake wasn’t hers but she certainly fixed it. Well done Countdown
Junior Manager
After delivering by hand a written request for sponsorship for a fundraiser, I was then asked to submit a request electronically I was given a refusal which didn't match the other branches who supported our cause wholeheartedly. The Redwood town branch is letting your brand down.
Uncooked food handling by Deli staff.
Uncooked food handling by Deli staff.
Every time I buy sliced ham I have to ask the serving staff not to use gloved hand to use tongs instead then they resist request. My reason is cross contamination of foods plus they can't guarantee they haven't touched a dirty surface or their own faces not realizing it, it's called being human and being careless without thinking.
Fodmap friendly
Why do Countdown not have the Fodmap variety of foods like Woolworths in Australia. It's a worldwide dietry need. Poor supply Countdown.
Countdown staff selling kids toys by…
Countdown staff selling kids toys by the box for so much money on fb marketplace. So bad! Why can’t they give it out to schools? Or give out more when the promotion is about to end?

formal complaint:
The warkworth countdown storeman..tall white guy...was very arrogant and abussive towards me approximately 730am...I Wanted to explain to him what I wanted...he swore at me and was arrogant and didnt want to listen to me in the loading block....he then told me to come back with a better attitude. after being abusive... 10 march 2023...
Deceptive positioning
I wanted to buy some ice cream. I went to Countdown. I noticed that Tip Top had a new line, more expensive, called "Crave." I chose an appealing flavour, not realising I had tunnel vision. When I got home, I saw the "non dairy" label. I think it is deceptive to put non-dairy in the middle of the dairy section, even if it is labelled. I tried it...not very good. Creamy but NOT ice cream.
I'm a Countdown Gold Card customer
I'm a Countdown Gold Card customer. However after being sent my new Gold card I'm informed I have to register it . Ho hum here we go trying trying no success yawnzzzz,
Tell me Countdown why isn't it registered again 3rd time by you when sent out to me.?
I also paid $26.00 for a tin of Nescafe classic coffee 360 grms only to find I bought exact same product from The Warehouse for $19.00.
This week Countdown have put this products price up to $29.00. Tell me how the hell can you justify this Countdown when there is another retailer supplying it for $19.00
One card voucher.
Using one card and having yo accumulate 2000 points before you get your $15 voucher needs to be updated considering the prices are continuing to hike. It's about time the voucher was worth more than $15 as it's been the same amount for well over 10 years now , so really no benefits at all. They can do way better.
UNRELIABLE AND HARD TO TALK TO AN ACTUAL PERSON
Generally we have had good service over the years But today is my husbands birthday. I had ordered a in-store sandwich platter. Payment of $35 was taken but the item was not provided. I tried to ring the store but they had blocked their number. Chat with Olice was useless and you kept getting the same question all the time. Blood pressure provoking. Why don't they have an actual person on a phone to talk to you. To my mind they had become unreliable and I no longer wish to be a customer. I want the item delivered because it is a birthday but there is nobody to talk to and email is useless too. So disappointed for my husband and his guests. We are in a quandry now because of it.
Charged for items not in stock. No refund given. Substandard fruit and veges
I was charged for all items but $32 of items were out of stock. I still got charged the full amount and no refund for the out-of-stock items.
Do not order fruit and vegetables through online shopping. The bananas I received were black and soft and the green beans were mouldy.
I also purchased frozen prawns and they were defrosted on delivery. This was a costly experience with substandard products delivered.
poor service
i have a choice of countdown or new world, given the choice i would rather walk on burning coals than use countdown.
the selection is pathetic.
the service is non existent,
eg i wanted $3 of fresh ham from the deli, i was given nearer $5 and it was thrown on the counter top. when i complained i was told that the operator was in a bad mood that day.
we employ multiple contractors that will only go to new world as the hot selection is so poor, it should not be allowed to be sold.
the language barrier. thats a whole political discussion in its self.
overall 1 star is far to much for the milford branch. will not entertain going back now.
Go Elsewhere…
I prefer to pay more and drive further to shop at Farrow in order to avoid Countdown. Countdown (Richmond rd, Grey Lynn) is alway poorly stocked and over priced.
No personal contact
Re: ridiculoud price increases. I have contacted Countdown a number of times requesting my complaint to be escalated and to receive a copy of tge complaints procedure. Every single time I get a generic copy and pasted reply from a customer service representative and it goes no further. Countdown you are a disgusting, greedy business who has absolutely no consideration for the average person. Shame on you!
MEAT NOT EATABLE.
Brought a bolar roast yesterday, slow cooked for 6hrs still tough. This is not the first time, all there meat is very tough, gave it to the dog.
Absolutely horrible
Absolutely horrible, no other way to word it. I had previously had ordered my groceries online and had made sure I had set the location twice (regent whangarei) but it kept automatically changing back to Auckland location. By the time I finally managed to get my order completed and paid for I realised it had set back to Auckland when I live in Kamo. I had requested a refund and explained why, meanwhile being put on hold 4 times and the customer service was rude. The next day, I got spam called (4-6 times) by countdown in Auckland while I was working and felt like I was being harassed, I explained to everyone I spoke with what had happened and I had requested a refund and got told a manager will speak with me quite abruptly on the phone line. It was very rude and no manager has gotten back to me, I have received no refund when I spent a total of $196.24 on 30/12/2022.
I check my receipts.
I check my receipts. Keep purchases to a minimum. CD has a low capacity for good customer service for me. Products incorrectly priced. Non sufficiency of diversity in staff. I shop elsewhere now for my staple dietary needs such as fruit, veg, meat, dairy, due to "Suffer-fools-gladly" when it was my only option. They probably get their produce from providers who exploit and slave people. It shows in their service.
