That's what being a mutual is all about.
We were founded in 1884 by Thomas Mason Daffern. He created a mutually beneficial relationship between savers and borrowers to help the people of Coventry buy their own homes. You might hear us being referred to as a 'mutual', and this is why.
As a saver, we look after your money and pay as much interest as we can. And as a borrower, we make sure your mortgage is affordable and offers good value, as well as providing great support if your circumstances change.
Your savings and mortgages are in safe hands.
From the little to the life-changing, we make it all add up. All together, better.

Used Coventry for their very good interest rate on a multi-access account.
Call handlers (on the two occasions I rang in) and customer service were absolutely excellent.

I wanted to help my mother set up an ISA as her power of attorney and the whole process has been seamless. A huge thank you to the POA team at Coventry Building Society 😃

Appalling customer service. Was contacted out of the blue due to a very old account but led to believe it was important. After numerous phone calls, letter, returning of private information (which I didn’t want to give) only to find out there was 0 in the account and did I want it closed (after 15+ years of inactivity!). Complete waste of time - made a complaint and yet heard nothing! Would not return to them again.

I have been more than happy with my past experience particularly with the Nottingham branch however the maturity rates on offer on this particular account can be beaten by a considerable amount elsewhere so for the present time I am bidding farewell to the Coventry Building Society.

I cannot recommend this bank. My experience over [insert time period] has been extremely frustrating due to a complete lack of coordination and customer service.
My main issues are:
1. Poor internal communication: The branch has little to no information about decisions made by head office regarding accounts opened at the branch. As a customer I am passed between departments with no clear answers.
2. Lack of customer relationship management: There is no sense of ownership of customer issues. Enquiries are not followed up and it feels like there is no accountability.
3. Uncoordinated service: Processes between branch and head office do not align, which causes delays and repeated explanations.
As a result, simple account matters become unnecessarily stressful. I expected much better, especially regarding communication and support. I would not recommend this bank based on my experience.

The centralised system that make the branches incapacitated to handle customer complaints. It's so frustrating being referred to call the head office and waiting endlessly for a letter on the post with a mismatched dates on it. Also tone of their letters, communication from staff and disorganised system internally is unimaginable.

Every time I’ve needed assistance, Coventry staff have alway been excellent. They are extremely knowledgeable, professional and friendly. It’s so refreshing to speak to a real person who know their job inside out and genuinely wants to help. Other organisations could learn a lot from them in how to retain customers with extensive training and careful recruitment. A refreshing change from bots/call centres abroad.

The Warwick branch is accessible from where I live. Usually busy as in the town centre. Staff always helpful and prefer to talk face to face for any queries. Very attentive and knowledgeable,

I have been a CBS customer for many years. It always has good savings rates and is now bridging digital and traditional means of access well. I really value being able to talk to a human being (for me, by phone).
