A let down
We opted for Cup tea rooms because they offered a takeaway service. The location on Renfield Street had our order ready to go and the cute paper cake stand is a nice touch. The savouries were tasty if very basic shop bought baps and croissants out of a packet. The scones were rock hard and with far too much baking powder in that you could taste. Almost every dessert had the same splop of icing either on top of or between plus the same bland, tasteless sponge just shaped either round or in fingers.
Our original plan was to go further afield to a fancy hotel cream tea but we are keen to give our custom to more homegrown businesses. After sitting trying to scrape jam out of the single 25g pot between us, we wished we'd reconsidered.
