Personal Statement Robbery
I requested a personal statement for my son's university application to medical school. I was offered the 24 hour service which was charged at a premium rate. I was enticed into paying for a 2nd page, and bang on the deadline I received their written attempt at a personal statement. I opened it with my son present, excited and to our utter shock, this was a horribly written statement. It had several American terms, including the title which said "Residency Personal Statement" and the statement made my son out to be a graduate Dr who was seeking residency and who would be tapping into his vast experience as a medical clinician.
I immediately complained, literally within minutes of receiving it, and rejected it and asked for a refund (which by the way was how they convinced me to use their services in the first place, the promise of a refund).
I was assure that their quality control team would review everything, which seemed fair enough. What was even more shocking was that they came back offering me a 40% partial refund. I argued my case to no eventuality as i was told that their internal QAD decision is full and final, take it or leave it.
Its easy to believe that this is a UK based, ethical company, however my experience has shown me that on every call that i made to their offices, i spoke to non native English speakers who struggled to understand my concerns. Even the writer of my document was arguably a non native English Speaking person. My instructions were clear, I referred them to the UK Gov UCAS website for guidelines and requirements however this was hastily drawn up by someone who used big words and strayed form what was asked. In the End I sat up, till 3am for the next few evenings with my son and we did it ourselves.
Do not use this company. I feel robbed and cheated and the irony is that my gut instinct told me not to use them as every caller i spoke to was unable to communicate in clear English.
Be Wary, they will take your money too!
