A 5* knob

I was contacted by a cv writer and interview tipper today, asking how my job search is going and that we hadn’t spoken much since connecting.

I said ‘The job search is going very well thank you, I dont require any assistance with my cv,or tips at interview, as I have been in the recruitment sector for 20 years. I told him I appreciated him reaching out”

And that was my response

Within seconds I got a reply saying

You wouldn’t even know how to write a cv

Ian Viner if you don’t like people saying no, don’t send messages.

Your response was very rude and entirely unprofessional and not warranted.

SO MY REVIEW OF THIS ABSOLUTE IDIOT WILL BE AS PROFESSIONAL AS HIM

Avoid at all costs.

I was contacted on LinkedIn by Ian Vine offering a free CV review. Having politely informed Ian that I had recently had a review and was happy with my current version, Ian responded with “Oh dear, I dread to think who you used. You should get a second opinion as my review is free”.
I didn’t respond, but unfollowed Ian as I had no interest in viewing his patronising and demeaning comments he leaves elsewhere on LinkedIn.

Ian reached out to me again today and despite me reminding him I wasn’t interested, I was informed I “wasn’t an expert in CV writing”.

I have never come across someone so unprofessional on LinkedIn attempting to sell services. Ian’s blocked me now, so unlikely I’ll hear from ‘CV Writing Services’ again!

Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

I’ve had limited exposure to Ian and I’m happy to keep it like that. He’s just plain rude, condescending and highly opinionated. You only have to look at his comments on LinkedIn to see that. However I can’t see his comments now as he blocked me soon after I disagreed with him. Seems to think he’s a recruitment expert despite never having been a recruiter from what I can work out.

Ian put a poll on linkedin...

Ian put a poll on linkedin. I participated in it and added a helpful note explaining what I look for in a CV.

Did he have the acumen to absorb what I had said and use it with his future clients? Was he gracious in thanking me for my contribution? No, he just sent me a bigoted and abusive message!

If he is not interested in listening to the requirements of those who review CVs then he has little chance of giving you good advice on your CV.

The owner was impolite

The owner was impolite. He left me a vague review on LinkedIn, and when I later asked if I could pay him to help write my CV and edit my LinkedIn profile, he quoted 400£. When I asked if the price was negotiable, he immediately blocked me on LinkedIn.

Surely a parody person/company

I don’t like to use the words ‘pompous prat’ in reviews. But that’s a polite way to describe Ian. Unfortunately I can’t give him a zero (or less) He’ll tell you your CV is terrible and then become quite abusive when you say it isn’t and it’s worked for many jobs in the past. Actually quite amusing for me. But wow. Steer well clear.

Well my instincts proved right about…

Well my instincts proved right about this poor excuse of a man… Ian had been asking to connect when I mentioned on my LinkedIn account that I was ‘open to work’, a short conversation with him blowing his trumpet on how great he is and me declining his expert advice resulted him now blocking me from viewing his account, good thing I have snap shots of our conversation!

Could smell a rat from a mile away, steer clear folks!

One star is generous

I set my profile on LI as open to work and had a request from Ian and an offer for a free CV review. I accepted as I thought any help is good help. He is very pushy so I decided not to send him my CV.

His tactics are pushy and his attitude is just damn right rude, not to mention unprofessional. How someone in the service industry thinks it acceptable to speak to people the way he does beggars belief.

I should have read the other reviews before engaging with him and will certainly be more selective with my connections in the future.

After reading the other reviews I have taken screenshots of all of the messages, including the one that says "You have no idea do you, You were going to send me your CV and then just didn't bother - I can imagine it must be absolutely dreadful"

Writing in the hope that it might save others the displeasure of conversing with him, and blocked on LI

Ian Viner is an incredibly rude individual!

Ian contacted me after I posted on LinkedIn and proceeded to be incredibly rude about both my CV and the people that had reviewed it before for me.
When I said that I felt he was being a little judgmental he proceeded to tell me they and I have no idea about recruitment - I've only worked in it for nearly 30 years and other even longer. If he feels this is the best way to approach people for new business then he has no idea how to deal with people!
He'll probably say he has never had any dealings with me but I took screenshots of our Li conversations before muting him - just before he blocked me to stop me reporting him to Li.
I really wish I had searched on Trustpilot first before getting into a conversation with him.

A "Huge Mistake"

Ian Viner approached me on LinkedIN for a free CV review, in hindsight I should have done some more research before taking him up on the offer!

He sent me an email with some feedback on my CV and was pushing for a zoom call. He then started sending me messages on Whatsapp and when I advised I had chosen an alternative route he became aggressive and rude.

It was frankly a ridiculous approach to try and win business and I was embarrassed to be part of the conversation so I blocked him and moved on with on with my life. Whether I make the "huge mistake" in not using his services or not, only time will tell.

Terrible experience.

This guy contacted me on LinkedIn offering a free service which I declined. He kept pressing, I sent him my CV. I’ve since been receiving abusive messages from him.

Con artist and bloody rude

Approached me directly offering services, I did not respond. Messaged again but in a more rude tone, I did not respond, messaged again being incredibly rude so I messaged to say I don’t need his services and his approach was rude and off-putting, he then proceeded to give me abuse. Cringey, just block the bloke.

Unprofessional, arrogant and rude

Unfortunately I wish I could put 0. Stay away from this arrogant, rude individual who calls himself Ian Viner.

I actually sent him my CV and he ripped it apart. When I didn't take up his services, he went on to insult me. I had to politely ask him twice to stop emailing me.

It's bizarre that he thinks his bullying approach can secure him work. He said I didn't have a clue, but clearly it is him that is clueless.

Stay clear of this man.

I do wish there was an option to…

I do wish there was an option to provide a negative star rating, something around -100 feels about right. This individual seem to take delight in targeting people who are at a low point in their career and then deliberately insult them. Great client approach there.

Unprofessional Chauvinist

Unprofessional Chauvinist: Ian Viner replied to a woman seeking feedback on her job search with a private message to "remove the lump from her chin". Apparently he feels a woman must have plastic surgery in order to get a job. How can you entrust any professional job with someone like this?

Makes sense now - the reviews are real, this man is TERRIBLE

Well.... I was shocked at such a rude interaction and now, reading these reviews, I'm comforted it wasn't just me. AVOID. No amount of polite decline or response will stop this man being rude, aggressive and just unnecessary. He must prey on people who are redundant or looking for work, and whilst their resilience is at a low, hits them with abuse.

Keep Well Away

I had the misfortune to work with this individual & as you can see from his linked profile, he has not held a job down for more than 12 months.
Personally, I would not trust him to tie his shoelaces, I would stay well clear.
Interesting to read Trust Pilot's other comments & his own web page.
