Super efficient

During the year I have had my Daikin heat pump system I have had no problems and my heating costs have gone down dramatically. Every quarter I used to get notice from my power company saying I was using more electricity (20-30%) than anybody with my size home. Last month (February 2026) I received a notice that my home was using less electrify than the average home of my size. The unit is virtually silent and quickly brings house to what ever temperature I set the thermostat at.

Unacceptable Temperature Control – Comfort Is Impossible

This Daikin system has been a major disappointment. The thermostat cannot maintain the set temperature, making basic comfort impossible. When set to 66–67°F, the heat does not activate until the room drops to about 65°F, then continues running until the temperature overshoots to 69°F. A 3–4 degree swing is not minor—it is uncomfortable, disruptive, and unacceptable for a modern HVAC system.

Multiple service technicians have been to my home and were unable to resolve the problem. They adjusted settings, inspected the system, and even contacted Daikin technical support directly. After all of that, nothing changed. I was ultimately told the system is “operating as designed.” If this extreme temperature fluctuation is truly how Daikin believes a thermostat should function, then the design itself is fundamentally flawed.

A thermostat’s primary job is to hold a steady temperature. Older, cheaper systems do this better than this so-called high-efficiency Daikin system. Efficiency means nothing if the system cannot provide consistent comfort.

This issue was never disclosed at the time of purchase. Had I known the system would intentionally allow wide temperature swings, I would never have chosen Daikin. I regret this purchase and would strongly caution anyone considering Daikin equipment: do not expect stable or precise temperature control.

Six weeks without A/C in Florida…

Six weeks without A/C in Florida summer. Non existent customer service, despite numerous attempts to contact. Spare parts not available, totally disfunctional relationship with distributors. Not not buy.

Two weeks and counting to get a warranty compressor

The compressor went out on our 3 year old mini-split, model number RXB18AXVJU and the warranty claim for the part was approved by Daikin almost two weeks ago but they cannot seem to get the part delivered so that we can get the unit running and no one can figure out where it is. If you want to be without air conditioning for 2 weeks in the Corpus Christi summer this is the product for you.

My Daikin mini-split broke after only…

My Daikin mini-split broke after only ONE MONTH of use — in the middle of an Atlanta summer. The outdoor unit’s control board failed, and for the last TWO MONTHS I’ve been trying to get the part replaced under warranty.

I called Daikin directly, and they were incredibly unhelpful. Their “support” amounted to telling me to call dealers myself. The first three dealers I reached all said the same thing: the control board is on backorder and out of stock. No timeline, no solution, no help.

I’m now stuck — wasting time and money — hunting for this part myself. I even ordered one online, only to find out it was the wrong board. Meanwhile, Daikin has done absolutely nothing to assist or expedite the process.

For a company that sells itself as a premium HVAC brand, this is unacceptable. If you’re considering Daikin, know this: when their product fails (and mine failed FAST), you’re on your own.

Verdict: Never again.

The ac compressor unit caught fire

The ac compressor unit caught fire replacement parts unavailable would not replace unit. It is a 18,000 dollar 3 head mini split 2 years old that is now useless piece of equipment still under warranty. Stay away from daikin because if goes bad you own it.

Trash

Trash. My apartment building was built with units in every apartment. We have a fb group, and everyone in the building cant get their units to work. We live in a hot place. Ac is needed. And our ac units are blowing hot air. We have troubleshooted everything we can.. mine still wont work. Others found restarting and waiting several times gets it to work eventually... im on my 5th reset, still no cold air. Do not buy. Terrible waste of money. Unreliable.

If I was a homeowner or end user it…

If I was a homeowner or end user it would probably be a 5 star review. However, I'm a technician on site at a job where I need technical support on demand. Homeowner services answers nearly immediately, but a homeowner will not lose his/her repair job when support doesn't answer. We as technicians can not sit here and wait. We need technical support to get rid of the automated system. Every time 1 person navigates through these systems, the company has over 50 more callers behind them. It is much more efficient and cost effective for a live person to answer inbound calls and direct them where they should go. Technicians may be on the clock but their supervisors are not witnessing the fact that we are waiting for tech support. We end up being penalized for taking too long on a job because we are waiting for you. Immediately find a remedy.

YouTube has answers that Daikin Customer Service does not

I got a new ductless Daikin Heat Pump and two air handlers installed a month ago. It is very good! I have not had this type of system before and is everything I expected it to be. The installer was a highly rated licensed and certified Daikin installer. I read the operation manual from front to cover. I called Daikin Customer Service (855-770-5678) to ask for clarification of the remote timer operation manual instructions. I thought my question was simple and would require a simple response. The customer service rep did not even attempt to respond to my question. She told me to call the installer. Not what I expected from customer service. Instead of bothering the installer, I looked up my question on YouTube. I was lucky! There was a very, very short video from an owner of a Daikin air handler similar to mine. His video covered my question precisely. Thank you, YouTube Daikin customers, for doing what Daikin customer service could not spend a few seconds to do.

Very unreliable system

Our 4 year old Daiken Comfort HVAC system has broken down multiple times since it was installed. Now the control board is broken, leaving us with no heat for several days. It is a very unreliable product.

Daikin One thermostat is useless

Daikin One thermostat is useless. At the best of times the app particularly is hard to use and at its worst the thermostat randomly goes off line. We were away for the weekend and needed to make an adjustment. Opened the app only to find the thermostat was offline. As a result I had to leave our time away and return home to deal with it. Definitely would not recommend.

EXTREMELY unreliable AC

Originally bought 3 mini split systems in 2018. They all worked perfectly... until they didn't. We've had the same problem 4 times now, at least once with all units. The problem always seems to be a cheap PLASTIC gear that controls the shifting of the slats. On the first service call, the tech told us this part always breaks. He was correct. We regularly clean the filters but apparently dirt still gets in, sticks to this gear and the teeth break off. Our installer (and service company) has been trying for the last 3 weeks to find replacement gears, with no success. Apparently you have to buy the whole motor again ( we did this once and paid $828 for labor... Any extended warrantee does not cover labor or service calls, so not much good. Is it too much to ask that AC units be made to last? had they spent the extra 75 cents for metal gears, I wouldn't be writing this review.

Warranty is a scam.

Warranty is a scam.

We purchased a Daikin heat pump system that was supposed to be covered by a 12 year parts and 6 year labor warranty but upon contacting Daikin to ask for our warranty documentation they advised us that we didn’t have the full warranty coverage as they had originally promised. We also found out that their parts warranties are non-transferable to a subsequent owner. Very disappointing experience. Will stick with North American companies like Carrier or Trane next time.
