Darwin’s Intelligent Diet is good food
I am very happy with Darwin’s intelligent diet that I’ve been feeding my cat for over two years. My cat has CKD lost a lot of weight on another wet, but not raw food I was using. Darwin is a very responsive company and it’s nice that they also provide a pet line for medical information to customers who subscribe to their food service.

High-Quality Food My Cats Love, but a Few Cons
I’ve been using Darwin’s for both their standard poultry formulas and their prescription Kidney Health options, and overall I’ve been very satisfied. The quality of the food is noticeably high, and most importantly, my cats genuinely enjoy eating it. Since switching, I’ve seen consistent healthy body weight, good bathroom habits, and they even seem to drink less water—likely because of the moisture content in the food.
One of the biggest differences I’ve noticed is in their litter box. When my cats eat other brands, the change in stool and urine quality and smell is immediately noticeable—in a bad way. With Darwin’s, everything is much more consistent and noticeably improved.
That said, I’m giving 4 out of 5 stars instead of 5. I’m aware there have been past recalls and quality issues with some dog and cat batches, which gives me some pause. Additionally, with the kidney formula specifically, there have been a few times where the quality seemed off enough that my cats wouldn’t eat it. To their credit, Darwin’s customer service was excellent and sent replacements at no cost, which I really appreciated.
Overall, I trust the product and will continue using it, but I do hope to see continued improvements in consistency and quality control.

Leaving 2 stars because the shipping and packaging. But my cats won’t touch it. Got 2 flavors, beef and turkey, I have 2 cats, they mostly eat wet food, but from time to time they get fresh meat, and that food they are just not want to eat , sniffed and walked away.. I tried to brown int a little on the pan - still nothing..for sample they should offer smaller options, now I’m stuck with 10lbs of cat food…

Many cats who normally enjoy wet food or even fresh meat still hesitate with raw at first because it doesn’t match the sensory profile they’ve imprinted on. Cats learn to recognize their food based on smell, texture, taste, and even temperature. When something new doesn’t match what they’re used to, their instinct is to sniff it and walk away. It’s a completely normal reaction, even for cats who aren’t usually picky.
My cat will eat the food. Yay!
# 1 reason for the rating is that my cat likes the food. The packaging is just right for 1 cat. I would prefer more variety, but realize that is likely unrealistic. So I'm still doing a homemade diet with reduced phosphorous. More training for your customer service department would increase the rating to a 5. A supervisor interceded and my order went through without a hitch.
