As a FTB I had heard so many horror stories of solicitors who were slow, unreachable and generally made the house purchasing more difficult than necessarry. I was extremely wary when choosing a solicitor. After reading many reviews I choose David Gray Solicitors, they were not the cheapest but I decided to gamble that slightly higher fees would mean a better level of service and I'm so glad I did. Cara my solicitor was fantastic, responsive (she always responded to my enquires within 48 hours, usually sameday), and easy to reach. On rare occasions Cara wasnt available her colleagues were happy to assist. Cara helped me through two property purchases (the first fell through) due to survey issues. She was patient and good humored especially in the face of all my FTB questions (and required hand holding) throughout the purchase of my first home. The explanations, information and communication, including regular status updates were super helpful. I was so relieved that my experience was the exact opposite of friends/family who had unfortunately had months of trying to chase/contact their own solicitors to get updates and move along the process. I was delighted with the service I recieved and would use David Gray (Cara) again should I have the need of a solicitor in the future.

They were friendly, helpful and empathetic.

FTB. Didn't have much of a clue about the process so spent some time researching, and then when I got my head around that about the same amount of time was spent looking for solicitors/conveyancers because apparently it's a minefield out there. The number one complaint from people seemed to be frustration about delays and being able to make contact with the firm representing them, so before anything else they needed to be local to me. With that in mind I managed to narrow it down to two providers of this service. I won't mention the other one (their sole business was a conveyance service) but I decided to go with David Gray because of reviews mainly - it was difficult to find anything negative from people who have bought and sold with them - and the fact they had a prestigious address in NE1 certainly helped (it gives you an indication of what they're about).

Anyway, the whole process was seamless. After you've jumped through the necessary legal hoops you just let them get on with it. Communication from start to finish was exemplary; I never had to chase them for anything (because I was kept in the loop throughout) but I knew if I did they were just at the bottom of Westgate Road. A lady called Maddison dealt with me initially (she was fantastic) and then a lady called Lauren after that (again fantastic). Lauren actually highlighted a few things that I had overlooked, and then followed these issues up to their conclusion with the seller.

I've now completed, and I will recommend anyone that'll listen to use David Gray. I know I haven't mentioned prices, because in all honesty, all the local locations to me were more or less the same. You can get much cheaper packages with companies located all over the country, but good luck with making contact with them when things go pear shaped - there's a reason they're cheap.

Medhi Hassan is fantastic. Our very first meeting started with me thinking I lost my passport on the way there, and all the panic that ensued. Medhi was kind, understanding, generous with his time, and the epitome of calm through all my tears. He helped me make phone calls while I trembled. Later that night I found my passport in the very bag I brought with me, just in a concealed zipper pocket that I didn't notice. I had never placed it there before. He still kept me as a client! ha! Last Year I was in need of a solicitor to help with an immigration matter.
I had a friend who I knew had, had a similar matter sorted so I asked which solicitor he had used.
He told me David Gray and about how successful they are in dealing with this type of work, so I gave them a call and was invited in for an initial interview, this was after they told me of the charges for this type of work.

The person who I met was Mehdi Hassan. from the start of our chat I felt this chap is a very professional/knowledgeable chap who would make it clear from the start if, I met the essential criteria to be successful in applying for a visa.
Throughout the whole process Mehdi was very thorough in explaining the options without trying to move me in a particular manner.
Even though some questions seemed rather strange Mehdi kept me on the straight/narrow, which lead to a successful outcome.
