Day Lewis: an insulin-dependent diabetic writes
As an insulin-dependent diabetic I rely on insulin being prescribed on time. Day Lewis reliably do not have stock to dispense. They seem to be permanently behind in restock. One time I was told a particular form of insulin was not in stock and I’d have to come back. When I Insisted that I had run out of my supply a pharmacist (after an interminable wait), came forward and offered me some he had ‘found’! On another occasion they couldn’t supply the same insulin for the best part of a month. When I collected my next prescription I reminded them I was still owed last month’s insulin. Noting they had no answer (and realising I had a good supply at home) I suggested we just skip that order. The pharmacist immediately agreed (seemingly one less backlog to worry about). I’m sure the Royal Pharmaceutical Society don’t endorse that approach!
My general experience of St Clare’s Day Lewis in Penzance is as follows: slow service; apparent understaffing; poor organisation; prescriptions not ready to dispense (long after they were signed by the surgery); permanent queues; and wasted journeys. Like many, one suspects, I have switched to another pharmacy. My new, family run local pharmacy puts Day Lewis in the shade: it always has stock and always dispenses on time. No queues too. Time the St Clare Surgery insisted Day Lewis get their act together. Or reconsider their contract.
Day Lewis Pharmacy Selsdon Addington…
Day Lewis Pharmacy Selsdon Addington Road.
Every visit is a truly miserable affair, rude staff, no stock, late prescriptions and the obligatory 20 min wait.

Day Lewis Pharmacy Glasshouse Lane, Exeter
Called in to Day Lewis Pharmacy in Glasshouse Lane, Exeter to collect a prescription - Was advised that they were waiting for a delivery - Contacted surgery who advised me to ask them for a printed prescription - I returned to Day Lewis and requested printed Prescription so I could get it elsewhere - they then provided me with the tablets! They had previously told me they were waiting for a delivery when that was obviously not the case - they were behind in making up prescriptions. No apology - just said that I was told that because they were only making up emergency prescriptions. Take a look at their website re their core values.
Day Lewis in Forest Hill Road - Great Help!
Day Lewis in Forest Hill Road always has is a busy chemist with people collecting prescriptions, etc. yet, the staff are always friendly, courteous, patient and helpful. I have no problem recommending them to anyone. The other day they assisted me with a troublesome but unusual request concerning a patient who was upset with a misspelling of her name. The staff took the time to advise me to speak with the GP surgery to get the name corrected and then took the time to reprint the labels on the meds to reflect the correction. Thank you Day lewis!
Day Lewis Pharmacy Penzance
Day Lewis Pharmacy Penzance. Always a long queue, usually out of the door into the car park, because of insufficient staff for the workload. There's a sign up to say that there are delays due to "unprecedented levels of staff illness". Unfortunately the sign has been there more than two months, so when does this become "normal levels of staff illness"? Truth is they don't give a stuff about wasting customers' time as it costs them nothing.
Visited south molton day lewis for a…covid jab
Visited south molton day lewis for a covid jab. The queue was 6 persons long with one person serving, I was 10 minutes late for my appointment as the second lady unpacking a delivery didn't think to help her colleague with the growing queue.
The windows are very large, full of cobwebs & dead flies.
No way to opt out of SMS spam
I have no problem with my local pharmacy or the staff there. Always had a pleasant experience.
Unfortunately I started receiving SMS spam for their other services. When I tried to opt out, they also seem to have opted my out of notifications for when my prescriptions are ready. I've been trying to get it sorted but they seemed to get to the point they just started ignoring me. It's been 3 months so far. All I want is a text when my prescription is ready, but it seems to be all or nothing.
Happy Customer 😊
I have been using Day Lewis Pharmacy in Ripon for a few years now... The staff are very friendly & helpful & always go above & beyond really.. I'm a disabled lady & get my medication delivered & the driver is very kind & polite. Keep up the good work it's very hard to find sometimes.
Well done to all at DL.
St Austell Day Lewis pharmacist…
St Austell Day Lewis pharmacist unfriendly and blunt did not have one of my items so cancelled it and dispensed the other two, asda who I had previously visited did not have one of the items but offered to dispense two items and said I could go to another pharmacy to get the missing one or take the whole prescription and see if I could get all 3 in the same place so I chose the latter to try and get all 3 in the same place, but she did not offer to dispense 2 and get the 3rd elsewhere just completely cancelled it now I have the hassle of contacting the doctors to get it redone she was unfriendly and un helpful wont be going again
⭐ Absolutely Outstanding Service! ⭐
After a frustrating experience at Tesco pharmacy, I took my daughter’s prescription to Day Lewis Pharmacy in Burnham-on-Sea, and I was absolutely flabbergasted by the fantastic customer service. Within just 10 minutes, the prescription was picked, checked, and handed to me—efficient, professional, and stress-free.
The staff were friendly, helpful, and incredibly efficient, showing exactly how a pharmacy should operate. Before I knew it, I was standing outside with a smile on my face, genuinely grateful for such a smooth and pleasant experience.
I cannot recommend Day Lewis Pharmacy highly enough. If you want a pharmacy that cares about its customers, values their time, and provides top-tier service, this is the place to go. Absolutely brilliant! 🌟👏

Deserves zero stars but not an option
We have used the Scunthorpe pharmacy for many years with no issues but recently since a change in staff and especially since the pharmacist Sarah-Jayne has left it has gone extremely downhill, they don’t answer the phone and on most occasions it just goes straight to a voicemail, so it’s impossible to get through, I ordered my repeat medication on the Monday and usually receive these within 3 days it got to the Friday and I still hadn’t received anything, so tried calling but again i could not get through, they close on a weekend so had to wait and try again on the Monday and at this stage I had been without some essential medication for four days so was getting worried about my health, I managed to get through on the telephone on the Monday to be told by Samantha that it will take 7 days as repeat medication is now done off site, i wasn’t asked when it was ordered and was going to just get fobbed off as she had no interest in helping so I had to tell her that it was ordered and had gone through to them a week ago, so I was put on hold to then be told the items would be delivered that afternoon, but upon receiving them, one item was missing and no explanation or owing slip which we’d usually receive, so I telephoned and eventually got through and was told that they were out of stock, so I had to ask when they were expecting them, as this information was not poffered, she then checked and said they should be in stock tomorrow afternoon, so due to the telephone situation I asked if they could call or text me when they arrived to be told no we can’t do either! So again I tried calling the next afternoon 6 times but the phone was not getting answered again so I had to get my husband to go into the pharmacy to chase these up again I was served by Samantha who told me that they would make the medication up now, so I queried what she had told me on Monday that repeats are done off site so how can they dispense the repeat item now to be rudely told that she didn’t say that they were done by an external company which I hadn’t even said and her attitude was disgusting and because shehad been questioned the look of disgust on her face said it all she then just proceeded to walk off without saying thank you or goodbye, so on that note we will not be using the pharmacy again and have now changed to a more efficient/reliable pharmacy.

DIDCOT GREENWOOD RD DAY LEWIS Absolutely awful experience getting a emergency supply of meds , never felt so violated and embarrassed in my life , the staff are very unprofessional and uncaring, avoid this place
Day Lewis Pharmacy Blackfen
Day Lewis in Blackfen has been my nominated pharmacy for the last 5 years. Prescriptions are often delayed, not ready, or completely mislaid with notifications missed. This branch shuts for an hour at lunchtime and are not open at all on weekends. This was the last straw and I’ve now moved to another pharmacy.
Medicine wrongly labelled as something else
This morning I went to collect my repeat prescription from the collection machine at my local Day Lewis. I had ordered Losartan and Felodipine (trade name Delofine). When I got home I found 2 boxes of Losartan, okay, and another 2 boxes. The pharmacy label on the boxes said Delofine but the name printed on the box said Losartan. So I took them back. They swapped these for 2 "proper" boxes of Delofine and gave me an apology. I was in a hurry so didn't have time to pursue this further but this is really bad. Okay Losartan and Felodipine are both drugs for hypertension but with different drugs for something else the result could have been lethal. I hope someone got a severe telling off.
Shame there is no option for zero stars…
Shame there is no option for zero stars
Absolutely shambolic. Queues for half hour every visit only to find stuff out of stock/not ready. Slow staff. Little eye contact.and spend ages looking for stuff as it’s never ready or in stock. I will drive to next town to friendly efficient chemist rather than spend my day queuing , even though it’s situated at medical centre near my house!
