Avoid it when ever you can

Avoid it when ever you can. Despite being on time it was my worst travel experience when traveling "first class". We have been treated like last class for no reason. Staff was so unfriendly.

I had low expectations, but it was much worse than I have ever imagined.

Rip Off!

How can a joghurt cost 4.90 eur and a small bottle of water 3.80 eur. This is exploiting the situation that on a train ride for 7 hours there is no other water source. Is this legal?

Horrible company

Horrible company, if you are travelling throughout Germany only use DB as a last result.

To illustrate how bad this company and their service is, whenever I have to travel with DB I always plan for expected delays, 3-4 hours before in fact. However I always seem to miss my connection and arrive at my destination late!!!

The worst is when the trains are unexpectedly halted and passengers are expected to to sit and wait some times for hours, last month this resulted in me missing my flight from frankfurt

Sorry for the marketing team who have…

Sorry for the marketing team who have to read all the reviews, but at least you are getting paid for this.
I, on the other hand, have been paying for this service every month and have no words (that would be allowed to put here) to describe how the situation in NRW has been last two years and its getting progressively worse.
Even Ersatzverkehr stopped coming, changes not announced on time and app is not helping either. Employees are clueless, so you can only pray and hope for the best.
Good luck and gute Besserung deutsche bahn.

I just booked 2 first class tickets…

I just booked 2 first class tickets from Amsterdam to Copenhagen through their app. Even though I am paying a premium for 1st class, there was an option to pay more to select specific seats. If not, the system would select. I opted for the system to select.
When my tickets were issued, no seats were assigned. I contacted Customer Service and they said I had to go back into the system and buy seats.
I'm still waiting to see what happens if I opt not to buy? What car am I in, which seat? Do I have to stand? Really such a sleazy way to operate a train system.
So much to a quick and smooth transaction.

As a regular customer I have not experienced yet a trip that would leave on time and arrived without delays or cancellation.. and customer service is a joke ! I use DB only because there is no alternative .

Just shocking!!

This is, without a doubt, the most disgraceful, incompetent excuse for a company I have ever come across in my life. The trains are filthy, stinky, and are consistently late or canceled. The staff are not only liars but rude, and so clueless they’d probably get lost in their own station. I would genuinely have been better off walking barefoot across broken glass than enduring this absolute wreck of a service. It’s a sick joke that something this dysfunctional is allowed to operate in Western Europe. Just shut it down already and let someone competent take over, because this is beyond pathetic—it's an insult to anyone forced to rely on it.

ALSO, we boarded a train in Aachen and right when it was due to leave they told us all to step out so that the train can be cleaned?!?!?! What the f..k?!?!?!?! We missed ALL our connection which increased our journey time BY 3 HOURS. A company like this MUST STOP OPERATIONS and be dissolved.

A terrible service

A terrible service! We had round-trip tickets from Amsterdam to Cologne for the weekend, but both trains were canceled without any prior notice. We found out when we were already at the station at 8:30 AM, and the options they gave us were to take trains with 3 or 4 connections (a total of 5 hours of travel for a journey that usually takes just 3 hours!) or a train at 2 PM that would arrive at 5 PM, so in either case, we would lose the entire day and the plans we had made. In the end, we couldn’t travel, and we also lost our hotel reservation because they wouldn’t accept cancellations with such short notice. Of course, the online customer service is terrible, there’s no phone number, and the chat is obviously a bot that’s useless. The worst part is that to file a complaint and get a refund, the options are shameful… either you go in person to a DB office to claim with an agent (there isn’t one in Amsterdam, I’m not traveling to Germany just to visit an office) or you have to print who knows how many documents and proof papers, fill everything out by hand, and send it by postal mail, as if it were the last century. What a disgraceful way to handle things and then make it so difficult for affected people to file a complaint. Maybe you should modernize a little and at least allow online claims, which would be faster, simpler, and more efficient. I will never try to travel with this company again

We needed a shorthaul trip from Munich…

We needed to change a shorthaul trip from Munich to Salzburg. The man at information at Berlin Banhoff was by far the rudest man I have ever encountered in my whole life and I’m 72. DB delayed our train a few days before making us miss our connection to Berlin. We lost our reserved and paid for seats and they can do that. They offered a refund but the form required international Banking Numbers etc. DB you may think you’re good but you’re terrible in my book. Next time I fly.

Worst transportation company in Europe

Worst transportation company in Europe. Lots of delays. A lot of Bureaucracy to get your "passenger rights". Very rude personnel. Avoid at all costs. Especially, if It's part of a long journey you will most likely miss your next train and you won't get compensation.

Terrible

Terrible, missed 2 connections out of 3 which made my journey from Basel to Brussels 2,5 hours longer. Always the same. After this time, I will never book Deutsche Bahn again. Not reliable at all.

Terrible service

Terrible service. Not only they have most of the trains in delay or cancelled without any notification, they have also a terrible management of the trains per rush hour. The train from Venlo to Germany in the rush hour is worst than an animal transportation service!!!! I still do get how this is still possible in Germany!!

Terrible experience, the made us lose our flight

Worst experience. We missed our flight because our train was canceled multiple times. We bought a ticket from Berlin to Amsterdam that departed at 08:00 and arrived at 14:00 with plenty of time before our check in for our international flight. However, days prior to trip date, we received a mail canceling our booking because that train wouldn't ride anymore and told us to select an alternative, which we couldn't make online. Since we had a stopover at Frankfurt, we aproached the DB Office there and they Gave as an alternative train with connection in Duisburg, now arriving to Ams at 15:00, still enough time. But the day of the trip, this train was delayed and then the connection canceled and made us take another train that was also delayed and in the end they just informed us that it wouldn't get to Amsterdam. So, we missed our flight and gave no direct way to contact them to ask for a refund of all the extra costs we have had to make (private transport to Amsterdam, new flight, hotel nights, etc) due to their terrible service.

Horrible service

Horrible service, trains cancelled without notice and app still claims train is running. Worst part of all is there's not a person insight to ask questions and get status from. Disgraceful. Like the USA, Germany is a car centric country that puts emphasis on driving over mass transit. DB rail however, makes Amtrak in the states look like a very organized and well oiled machine.

I had a worst experience with…

I had a worst experience with #Germanbahn. The trains would not reach at the correct time, no proper information about the lanes. Trains would stop saying lane issue. No proper escalators. No information desk in the railway station. Though I share my experiences several times still I don't see any change. #Changeismandatory.
