Absolutely terrible customer service after purchase

Unbelievably terrible customer service. So far I have had to make 19 phone calls over the course of 3 months to get a replacement screen following a faulty product. They failed to follow through with even the simplest things they said they would do, so I had to call 3 times for every one thing that needed sorted -- most of those things being follow ups from previous mistakes by Dell. Dell's service has wasted countless hours of my days, I absolutely do not recommend making a purchase here.

Worst purchasing experience ever

I think my experience with Dell must be the worst I can remember.

I can't even PURCHASE a computer. Dell online chat is not available, even during the business hours they claim.

And they have no e-mail support whatsoever.

Usually troubles start after the purchase. Most companies are at least eager to sell you something.

Dell cannot even manage that.

I dare not imagine what their after-sales support must be like after this experience.

DELL ProSupport for XPS13 is a big fail !

Hi,

I want to share with you my experience with DELL ProSupport.

About 2 weeks ago, my XPS 13 9300 (2020) bought in december suddently gone. No way to turn it on, no charge indication... I contacted DELL support via chat, and it was really efficient.

-> They send me the next day in my office a tech guy to change the motherboard. What he did. They guy leave without lot of test, but at this precise moment, it was still looking normal to me...

I finaly noticed after a few hours that my ON/OFF button was broken, and don't works anymore... Luckily, the LID opening can turn on the computer (in some conditions). I contact again the support by chat, and they program a new intervention, 3 days later.

-> The second tech guy came to change the Palm-rest and keyboard assembly. What he did too.
When he was about to leave with no more tests than this ON/OFF button, I've try on my side a few more components before he leave my office.

A few hours later, I understood that the CHARGING INDICATOR (the led on the front / edge of the computer, just between keeboard) wasn't working anymore (even when charging...). I contacted again the support via chat, to plan a new intervention.

-> The third tech guy came today. For a problem of charging light the computer was almost working. When he left the computer was down! He first changed the motherboard (again). But the LED charging didn't react at all.

He then decide to change the based cover (the bottom of the computer; where the led is physically), what didn't help us to see any light ;)

He called the DELL support to get advice and see what to do next. As this light also works for diagnostic of failing components, they decide to try to unplug the HARD DRIVE to see if this light ago turn red or not. It didn't. But finaly, when he plugged again my hard drive on this brand new motherboard, the hard drive never went back. After two or three new tries, the tech guy told me straight: your hard drive is broken. I can't help you anymore. He closed the computer, as the case (not solved of course), and join me to contact DELL, what I just did. They'll come back to me next week to change my computer. But I'll need to start from scratch, and reinstall all the datas in the computer (what can take up to 1/2 days to get back a proper work environement..)

For now, I stuck with no laptop for a few days (let's cross fingers that I won"t have troubles that requires a computer this week-end), and keep a really bad experience with their on-site support (in term of delivery).

What's surprise me the more is the fact these guys don't seems to have a testing process at the end of their mission. If you change a component with 3 connectors to let's say speakers, camera and keyboard; you should check if all theese components are still working before leaving... That could avoid a lot of time lost and energy.. and now DATAS!

Terrible warranty service

2300 euro for an XPS 15 in December 2018.
12 months later (december 2019) laptop is warming too much when charging on cable and fan turning like crazy. I get a free intervention from Dell changing battery, mother board and cable. 12 months later (december 2020) almost at the end of the 2 years warranty battery is gone. I contact the service and they do not change it because replaced items have only 3 months warranty...

So if a system is buggy they can solve it once with pieces that are not new, anyway after 3 months the warranty on the replaced item is gone and if something breaks it's your problem.

It was my first time with Dell and for sure it's also the last.

A surprisingly positive experience.

A surprisingly positive experience.

Wanted a computer with international keyboard. Living in France, that's a tough job. Either Apple or Dell can do that job, I’ve learned.

Went on to Dell.fr and with my adventures French, I found an Inspirion 14 5000 - The keyboard had to be an international one, and I wasn't quite sure how to fix this. I started the chat and was connected to a woman called FZB. She kindly asked for my needs (all in French). I confessed, I really wanted a Danish keyboard, though an international would do. FZB told me I could have a Scandinavian keyboard (a regular Danish one), if I wanted that. Wooow, happy me !!! Of Course I wanted that :)

FZB then asked me for my IRL details and sent me an offer via email, which I have to confirm - seemed like a strange procedure, but hey… ok.
I had made an error with my address, as my French is quite poor, she corrected this and sent me the updated offer.
I was asked re reply the offer with an “I consent” - Which I did. FZB then told for the payment process she would call me. Strange procedure again, but hey … ok.
The phone rang and at the other end was a very nice, pleasant and trustworthy person. I gave her the card details + the magic number on the back, and the payment went through. The computer would arrive within 14 days, she told me.

And I waited. In one of the mails I was sent, I found a link, so I could follow the computers journey from China to me. Naturally it was the China - EU leg that was longest. Once in the EU it took a day for the machine to find its way to my hands. The delivery took 9 days.

And the machine arrived. It exceeded my expectations. Was fast, perfect and just what I wanted.

But after two days I saw the F2 key was crooked. Like the key wouldn’t stick to the keyboard. I tried to find out how to get help through the Dell.fr site, though I was not really successful. I took a picture of the crooked key and send it to FZB. She called me on the next workday, said she had seen the issue and would patch me through to technical. At technical I was setup with a technician, who would pass by the day after to fix the computer.

And so he did. He came and in 36 degrees heat, he took all the inside of the computer out, and replaced the entire keyboard-board. Heroic !

Now my computer is perfect and awesome again ! And what a service !!

After my experience I can only recommend Dell.fr to everyone !!!

Note: I would recommend Dell.any-EU country always have native + International English speakers working, as there are more than 370 million English speakers out of about 450 million EU residents. And with the EU - we tend to move around :).

DELL = NIGHTMARE

DELL = NIGHTMARE! Impossible to reach by phone do not reply to emails and if they do it is to inform you that your ticket requesting assistance is CLOSED and if you are not happy, they will reply that you can open a new ticket....(sic). I have never ever seen a company who despises its cleints to this extent. They are probably only interested to sell their systems to big companies and if you just a human being, you are just a dirt. Working with Dell in France is a Scam !

Working with Dell in France is a huge scam !
Why do distributors & wholesalers still work with this company !!????

Dell has absolutely NO business ethic at all.
Before they used to do only direct sales. Now since they have swifted to indirect sales recently, they ask for ALL your customer details before sending you an offer...after what they say that they cannot provide you an offer as they have already addressed an offer to another distributor. Hard to believe when you have asked the offer even before your client has sent their RFP document to other companies !!!!

In the end they either end up contacting your customer directly and/or send it to a shortlist of distributors with who they work and love cheating together.

All this for what...well to protect their insane high margins what else !
People and companies think that they will get better deals by buyind Dell because they buy direct. In reality it is the opposite and believe me working for a 100 Mi € company I have loads of data to proove it.
Dell's margin is usually between 9 and 16% vs 5&9% for most other brands.

Now I will stop wasting my time by making this message evn longer but I belive that ethics is alos important in work and Dell has none.
Time for people with ethics and I know I am not the only one concerned to boycott these companies who have no respect at all.
