It went downhill !!

I started with Demon whyen it was a dialup ISP provider, and when they went to broadband I moved over. Demon was sold several times it ended up with the Cable and Wireless group, Before being sold to Vodaphone. It used to be a "Full Spectrum" supplier Ie it provided email, web presence etc at an all in price. In 2016 I was away for 6 weeks, in the last week I couldn't get my emails. I returned to the UK and asked Demon why only to find out that they had moved the email to an outside provider and It would now cost extra. No reduction in my Demon bill at all. I moved to a different ISP after being with them for over 15 years!! I will not use any services from Vodaphone EVER!!.

This is what happens when a small supplier is taken over by a large multinational company.

Awful.

Awful.

Moved home but kept same service and even phone number, 8 months later I decided to cancel and move provider, Demon trying to charge me an early termination fee as apparently locked me into a new 24 month contract without telling me when I moved the service to my new address despite being a Demon customer for almost 15 years. Anyway, I wish them luck trying to legally make that one stand up seeing as though I was not aware nor signed for a new 24 month contact.

My reasons for leaving demon are simple, mediocre speeds and service but AWFUL offshore customer contact team, if your going to outsource your customer services then at least speak the language ! Appalling. Lost internet for 3 days and all demon could do is apologise but do nothing.

Moving to Zen internet for fibre as have good reviews and can speak to someone based in the uk if any issues not some crackly line to outer Mumbai

Once was a good company....now !!!!!!

Used to be good was with them for over twenty years and as others say first took my web page away, well transferred it and took me 2 years on and off to get it removed and then my email. Why would anyone bother with them and totally endorse the view that Vodaphone couldn't give a monkeys

Horrid!

Horrid, horrid "service," avoid at all costs. Speeds nonexistent, support useless and idiotic who couldn't even log into the router, they read from a script that is irrelevant to the issue at hand, connection drops all the time, they don't know what the hell they're doing. Get any other provider BUT this one, especially in London!

Would not touch with a barge pole now

Would not touch with a barge pole now
Was with Demon Internet for years, then 12 months ago started having slow speeds (nothing changed at my end), demon support just didnt want to know, totally useless. Eventually switched providers, and all fine. Demon - where one of the best, now totally one of the worst.

A great company ruined by Vodaphone

I've used Demon for years and told others to use them, but as Vodaphone have integrated Demon into their business the service has gone steadily downhill. It used to be that with a small business account I could phone Demon and speak to a techie who would resolve my problem. Now I get to talk to someone in (I think) India who is connected via a very poor VOIP system and just reads from a script.

A few months ago we moved and I asked Demon to transfer our account to the new house. The sales guy said he couldn't because they'd changed the name of the service I had so would have to start a new account. I didn't think through the consequences, too busy with hundreds of other issues around moving, but the upshot is I'm now tied into a 2 year deal I want out of even though I was a customer for 10 years, and Demon have stopped returning my calls or answering emails.

Absolutely terrible nowadays.

I've been with Demon since 1998. Since Vodaphone took over they have been getting worse and worse.

After a heated and long conversation they agreed to send me a new router, the old was 12 years old, as long as I took out a further 18 month contract. As I've been with them for 18 years I didn't see this as a problem.

No router arrived, all OK.

Then 2 weeks later they drop a bombshell by telling us that they will no longer be supporting email services!!! I can't believe that the guy who *kindly* sent us the router didn't know this.

They recommended a shyster/con company called names.co.uk to sort out the emails....see separate reveiws for them.

I'm now stuffed with a useless 18 month contract.....seems like my 18 YEARS with them accounts for nothing.

Shame on you Demon.

Massive drop in attention to customers since Vodafone took over

I've used them since they started in the '90s. They were the best, but when Vodafone took them over they must have fired all the customer relations staff because now they truly are diabolical. Things I dislike about Demon/Vodafone broadband:

Demon's help URL on their home page uses an untrusted connection.

There are several dead links on most of their web pages eg to the sections headed "LEGAL STUFF", "TERMS AND CONDITIONS", and "Privacy Policy" Not very professional for an internet services company!

They continue to bill you after acknowledging contract cancellation and the notice period has expired. Received email acknowledging cancellation on 7th August for 30 day period ending 6th September. Still got billed in October! Point out their error and they just send you another reminder to pay an incorrect bill!

They don't use your name when sending emails, they use your account handle.

When they overcharge you in error they won't refund without asking you for id over an insecure connection.

Calling them is only via an 0345 number and they don't seem to read emails in the accounts dept.

I've signed up with another ISP. Small drop in price and big improvement in internet service since I changed. They still owe me a few pounds plus a lot of time wasted.

Avoid.

Demon used to be an excelent ISP provider - i've been with them for 5 years. However there service has droped massively, I used to be able to get 6meg constantly - but recently the line speed has droped to below 1meg and there only responce to this is to try and 'upsell' you another one of there products (for 30% more and a 24 month contract).

So with the poor line speed, download restrictions and the expensive monthly cost - i would strongly suggest going somewhere else for your broadband as other ISP's can offer better service at a lower price.
