Never met a dealership so uninterested…

Never met a dealership so uninterested in taking a sale in my life was speaking to a member of staff via text about coming too see a car I was very intrested in purchasing and got little to no response. I suggest going elsewhere perhaps where the sales staff are intrested in making a sale.

What can I say!? Outstanding

What can I say!?
Absolutely outstanding customer service, literally the best I've ever recieved.
Better than Porsche or Audi.

I experienced some issues, and they were resolved with ease, no doubt in my mind, and effortless professionalism.

The owner of Derby Trade Cars is absolutely lovely, and the most genuine and kind man I have ever met in the trade.
Everyone else there was also great.

If your looking for a high preformance car, Derby trade cars is 100% the place to go.

Dont doubt this dealership, they are 100% hands down the best dealership I have ever experienced.

A good experience all round

There are a couple of 1 stars for DTC, but i had a fairly smooth deal. The staff were great, gave me a few hundred more for p/x for my motor. Nice and easy. Good communication from Ollie

Couple of little gripes, car could have been cleaner. Metalwork/brightwear was grubby, dirty seats. Cracked/damaged wing mirror, damaged centre r2 seat belt buckle. All in all, nothing to lose sleep over.

Considering it was the cheapest car on the lot (by far), felt like i was pulling off with the Lambo, thanks! It's kicking off our fostering with a bang!

Avoid This Dealership

Avoid This Dealership – Poor Vehicle Condition & Aftercare
I purchased a 2007 Mustang from this dealership a few months ago and have faced a long list of issues ever since. The car was advertised as having xenon headlights, but when it arrived, I immediately noticed they didn’t meet road safety regulations and appeared illegal. Upon closer inspection, I discovered they were actually halogen projectors falsely advertised as xenons. Even worse, the headlights were dangerously bodged together, with cardboard stuffed inside a shocking and unsafe detail that had clearly been hidden. I had to replace the entire setup immediately just to make the car roadworthy.
This was particularly frustrating given the dealership’s claim that the car would be thoroughly inspected prior to sale, a promise clearly not upheld. Strangely, they also put it through a service and its MOT 2days before it was received.

Within just a few days, the handbrake cable snapped. Despite this happening so soon after purchase, the dealership refused to help and instead suggested I look for replacement parts on eBay. A garage inspection shortly after revealed a noisy gearbox and a worn clutch.

Communication with the dealership, especially with Simon, has been deeply disappointing. He brushed off the issues as "normal" and cited a £500 discount at the time of purchase as justification for offering no further support even though that discount doesn't begin to cover the repair costs, and the car was supposedly sold with a warranty. Since then, I've paid out of pocket for several urgent fixes: a new handbrake, a radiator hose clamp, coolant system flush, missing parts, and more.
A transmission specialist would later discover what appears to be the wrong type of fluid inside the gearbox and suspects internal damage due to neglect or misuse.

Further inspection revealed structural damage, cracked components, and signs of previous abuse none of which were disclosed before the sale. To make matters worse, documents I received post-sale listed conflicting engine specifications and revealed that the car had previously been a salvage vehicle of some capacity in the Netherlands, which was never mentioned during the buying process.

Despite multiple emails and being told I'd receive a callback once Simon returned from leave, I've had no response in over a month later.
I feel completely let down and strongly advise others to steer well clear of this dealership. In my experience, they've shown a profound lack of care, responsibility, and knowledge, and I wouldn’t trust them for anything, let alone vehicle advice or aftercare.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

We were severely disappointed with our experience with Derby cars. Immediately after pruchase we realised the car had missed a major service and decided to take it Land Rover (we debated a Land Rover specialist but as it was such a significant service thought it was better to go with JLR themselves). We had been told the car had been both MOT'd and serviced when we bought it. The MOT was VERY dodgy, as Land Rover said, the car was unsafe to drive. There was a major "obvious" leak on the differential and, equally shocking, despite having asked for the tyres to be checked for tread and brand it transpired that there were different tyres across the front axel and the rear OS tyre was down to the cord. The spare tyre was deflated with a nail right through it ! We ended up having to replace all 4 tyres which, on a Range Rover, proved very expensive. Combined with the cost of the service and the essental work were over £4.7k out of pocket. The rear motorised arm rest was also broken and clearly hadn't even been checked as it was full of rubbish. BUYER BE VERY AWARE - everything is not as it seems and you have no recourse, EVERYTHING is done on the VERY cheap, even our expensive range rover, we own 8 cars and this is by far the worst experiance we have ever experienced, we didn't contact the dealer as it was very obvious that it would be a complete waste of time. The mot garage has been reported to the DVSA with both video and photographic evidence, as just from a safety perspective the car should and would have failed its mot.

unprofessional

found a car on Autotrader so called them and spoke with Ollie who was very helpful I decided to go ahead with the deal and px my car against the Nissan, I emailed him to say that I would be transferring the money from my building society and would call him on my return, which I did but he was not in, I emailed the next day and called and was told he was off that day. I explained the situation so Megan sent me an order/invoice for the car, and said speak to Ollie tomorrow. I called to speak to him but was told he had got out for half an hour, so I left a message to call me back, I tried again but it was after 5pm so sent am email saying that I had been trying to contact him with delivery/payment details, this morning I received an email saying tat Megan had contacted me to tell me she had sold he car, which was far from the truth as she had sent me an invoice and had not said anything about selling the car from under me. so all in all not a good experience and not at all professional am so very disappointed in their lack of honesty and customer focus

Excellent Car Buying Experience

Firstly a thousand apologies to the people at Derby Trade Cars I should have done this sooner.
I bought a car from Derby Trade Cars in 2022 and the whole experience from initially looking at the car to negotiating a price to taking delivery of it was a pleasure. Hassle free. The staff went above and beyond.
What nailed it for me was when I'd seen the car advertised online and went to take a look at it. You know how some car dealers follow you around talking the deal up and generally being a nuisance. A bit like the creature in the Alien film that is stuck to someone's face and they can't get it off.
Well Derby Trade Cars don't do that. They give you the keys and invite you to have a look at the car on your own and they are in the office if you need them. Zero hassle or sales pitch.
I got a great deal on a lovely car. They put a new MOT on it and had it serviced the day I picked it up.
Bang on service and buying experience.
A year later I'm still very happy with my purchase and I recommend Derby Trade Cars to my family, friends and work colleagues.
