Although I do love this sharpener I find that you do have to be carful when sharpening pastel pencils as they do tend to break as they are quite soft. I personally find that using a craft knife is much better for pastel pencils but of course it’s all down to preference. I would like to see derwent perhaps design a knife for sharpening softer type pencils.

Nice Sharpener to use with my pastel pencils.
I have found this shapener to be the best at getting a point on my pastels and coloured pencils. I have wasted so much money on more expensive ones that don't work. These blades may not last very long but are cheap enough to replace frequently.

You must use this if you use Derwent pastel pencils, I previously just used a knife but this allows you to get a sharper point.
Works well and got them at a great price from Derwent.
