Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 71 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of products, noting a decline over time and issues with items like water systems, lawn mowers, and drills failing prematurely. The warranty process was a significant point of contention, with numerous reports of difficulties in registering products, getting support, or having warranties honored, often due to strict interpretations of terms or issues with unauthorized dealers. Customer service was frequently criticized for being unhelpful, slow to respond, and difficult to reach, with some experiencing long wait times and unresolvable issues. Additionally, many felt that the pricing was not justified given the perceived drop in product quality and the poor after-sales support. However, some customers did appreciate the power and quality of certain tools, and a few had positive experiences with warranty replacements, though these were less common.

DeWalt horrible customer service is horrendously…

DeWalt customer service is horrendously bad. I purchased a pressure washer that was missing the green nozzle and spent hours on the phone over and over, online, sent emails, left phone messages with no return calls, followed links, all to no avail. This rates as one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had and has insured I’ll never buy another Dewalt product again. What should be simple, has turned into a time consuming dead-end over an item that was missing from a purchase. I’ve been in the trades for 50 years where equipment and tool word of mouth is everything. and I have nothing good to say about Dewalt.

These tools are used by pros for a reason

Started buying these tools after the drill I bought 10 years ago has not let me down once. Now, I have a good selection of dewalt tools, and the quality is amazing, will continue to buy to, but I can't comment on the customer service as I haven't needed to contact.

20V Circular Saw is a poor product

My 20V circular saw handled 1x6 decking boards well. The saw failed to deliver any satisfactory result when I tried to notch my 2x12 stair stringer. It didn’t get past two cuts on a fresh battery without failing part way through each cut. The battery was dead by the third cut and the blade was sharp, brand new. I wouldn’t recommend the purchase of the saw. Too much money with unacceptable result.

Not Your Daddy's DeWalt! Today's DeWalt Sucks!

I bought two DeWalt Cordless Drills (Model #DCD708). Within six months, both malfunctioned. Obviously these drills come frovm the factory flawed and DeWalt just refuses to recall them or stop selling them. Here's what I have learned: DeWalt at one time was the standard for quality tools -- BUT THAT HAS CHANGED. This is not your daddy's DeWalt company. They now manufacure cheaply-made, bottom-of-the-market tools -- although they still sell the tools as if they were the same level of quality. This is a typical corporate money-making strategy. In the end, they destroy a good name and brand, but apparently the profits they make in the meantime while everyone figures out what is going on makes the scheme worth it. Do NOT buy anything made by DeWalt, espeically their drills. And spread the news...tell everyone you know that today's DeWalt is NOT the same DeWalt that made quality tools previously. You need look no further than this very TrustPilot report. 1.9 stars? Ouch. That's worse than any other tool manufacturer on earth! Learn from our mistakes -- do NOT waste your money and time buying anything from today's DeWalt.

Impact driver stoppped working

I'm a homeowner who 18 months ago bought a cordless DeWalt combo - drill and impact driver. Used the tools around my house, maybe 2-3 times a month, for a few months not at all. Suddenly the impact driver stopped working. Didn't drop it, on one screw it worked then nothing. I bought DeWalt because supposedly high quality of the product they sell. For me it's failed. Obviously next time will be buying a different brand.

DeWalt deserves a zero rating!

I wish I could give DeWalt a zero rating!

We purchased a leaf blower in July 2021. Also in April 2021, we purchased a brushcutter - a tidy sum for both.

As it is a seasonal tool, my husband went to use it yesterday and the Flex volt 9ah battery wouldnt charge. He tried the usual things, ie use a different charger, clean it, etc.

After contacting customer service this morning, through chat, evidently, the three-year warranty is only applicable in Northern America and not in the UK. Does that mean the products we purchase here are inferior to those purchased in NA?

DeWalt's online chat - what a waste of time that was. The CS person was dismissive, uninterested and really couldn't be bothered. There was no support at all. He was just told,

'Sorry for your experience. The battery doesn't come under the 3-year warranty. Can I help you with anything else?'

Not even a suggestion of that's not right when the battery has had little use due to the nature of the product, ie seasonal. Let's see what we can do for you? For example, have you tried to do A to Z? Let's see what you can do to repair it or where you can get it looked at.

Absolutely no help at all. Customer Service is bereft at DeWalt for sure.

I would suggest some customer service training - online courses are available!

My husband is a long-time loyal user of DeWalt products and currently has 13 items still in use. But after his interaction with DeWalt's customer service today, has said he will not be replacing any of these items with DeWalt products.

What has happened DeWalt? You were at the top of your game.

In Northern Ireland especially, there are an awful lot of trades people that are using DeWalt. We will definitely not be recommending DeWalt again.

Very disappointed 😞

Extraordinarily bad customer service

Dewalt doesn’t even deserve 1 star. Lawnmower purchased on Amazon delivered with missing parts. Difficult to get through to a live person, then clueless reps barely speak English. Wrong parts shipped on 3 separate occasions. Online account created, ticket filed, no response, 1 week later account doesn’t exist and can’t log in. Never received correct parts, lawnmower can’t be used. Will attempt to return it to Amazon. DeWalt obviously doesn’t care about their customers or customer service. Can’t comment on product because I can’t use it. Always purchased Honda lawn equipment in the past, tried to be green with battery powered mower, BAD IDEA to try Dewalt. Won’t stray from Honda again.

Dewalt standards have dropped

I contacted Dewalt customer service about my 2 year old DWS713 miter saw that is still under warranty. A small piece of trim hit the fence and completely shattered it. Pieces flew everywhere like shrapnel. Luckily, no one was hurt, but it could have been a disaster. I sent every bit of information they asked for but have not heard back. I tried calling and was told that my case was under review. After reading all the other negative comments, I'm skeptical that they will honor their warranty. I will never purchase another Dewalt item.

Absolutely a terrible product

Absolutely a terrible product. I would never recommend a DeWalt problem to any company small or large. There hammer drills always break (i.e gears strip out). When they do, they do not adhere to the warranty. Very difficult to navigate through the phone calls and processes. I have a medium size company and today I have made the decision to stop buying DeWalt products.

I have all my construction tools from…

I have all my construction tools from dewalt since I thought it is supposed to be a reliable and reputable company. I was very wrong. The laser I bought from home depot died and it was replaced. After a year the replacement died. They won't honor the three year warranty since it is a limited warranty even though the product is defective still nothing. Their customer service rep Sherri C is rude and ignorant. I sent her all the info she asked for only to email me to tell me the support ticket is closed. Disgusting way to handle clients since I rely on tools to run my business.

Another Chinese business model.

I have probably spent $30,000 on Dewalt tools over the years. They have assured me that it is now a mistake to buy their products, and I will be moving on and purchasing a different brand. They failed to refund or credit my money for a product, (DXH45LP HEATER), with an abysmal rating for multiple failures and that proved to be a dangerous fire hazzard more than once for me. They went through the motions of "making it right" but lacked any follow through. The bottom line is that they won't own their mistakes, which seems to be the new normal for a lot of companies these days. It is unfortunate, because I really like their hand tool line and constantly upgrade my collection as the years go by. One would think that they would stand by this one product and ensure the thousands and thousands of dollars in future sales, but they didn't. That's why I say it is just another "American" company that has adopted the Chinese business model, where the consumer is not valued as an asset. They crank out inferior products day and night, focusing on the individual sale of these items, and completely overlook the men and women who are relying on quality products to keep their businesses running. I must say, I was really let down by Dewalt on this heater thing. I expected them to own the egregious engineering on this heater that is a rip-off. Instead, they are still selling them in stores, and basically told me to pound sand. Hello Milwaukee tools, I guess. What a shame. And shame on Dewalt!

APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE

An appalling company with appalling customer service.
I bought a grass trimmer with a 3 year warranty. After 13 months I had to get it repaired under warranty at a DeWalt service shop 2.5 hours from my home. it took 7 weeks for DeWalt to deliver parts & 9 weeks for my machine to be returned
After 2 years I had to get it repaired again and this time I had to wait 9 weeks again.
Several phone calls & multiple e-mails to DeWalt but they don't want to know.
They have the worst customer service I have ever dealt with and I have decided I will never have another DeWalt product again.

I reached out to dewalt customer…

I reached out to dewalt customer service because a kit box (a box designed for a specific tool one gets when purchasing a kit) broke and I wanted to ask dewalt how/where to buy another one. The only reason I reached out to them was because their retailers know absolutely nothing about their products, not even talking about the model numbers for spare parts.
Calling dewalt ended with a disaster: both representatives suggested I go back to where I purchased the tool and try my luck there, when I explained that it was useless they suggested I look at the manual, which didn't have the information I needed. I was bounced around between departments until BOTH calls were suddenly dropped, after overvan hour spent trying to find the right person whose knowledge level was, hopefully, just a notch above "zero"...
So I went on the website and sent an e-mail. I explained my situation in detail, also started and finished the e-mail with the reason for writing it in the first place: need to buy replacement kit box... Unfortunately, it seems that the person who replied to my e-mail had the same mental capacity of those halfwits I encountered over the phone, I say that without any anger and the reason is simple: instead of READING my e-mail, a WEEK after I sent it I received a generic reply which stated that, prior to helping me, I have to provide the model number of the kit box, which is insane because trying to find out the model number of that cursed box was half of the reason I reached out to them in the first place... And it didn't stop there because they also needed the serial number of the battery that powers the kit box and the box itself, proof of purchase of said box and a description of use.
Needless to say it was insulting to realize that not a single person there gives a damn or can ever help me, they're not knowledgeable or helpful and, unlike their tools, dewalt's customer service is, quite possibly, the absolute worst one I've ever encountered. It may be the most maddening and the worst THING I ever experienced, period! Words cannot describe just how badly I wanted to throw away all my dewalt tools and never hear the name 'Dewalt' again.
Eithe way, my next purchase will not be a dewalt tool, that's for sure, moreover, I don't think I'll ever buy one of their tools ever again, simply because their customer service simply doesn't exist and a good customer service, to me personally, is as important as the tool itself, without it there is nothing, which is what I have now... instead of a new kit box, thanks to Dewalt.

I bought a set of 3 compound pliers…

I bought a set of 3 compound pliers which were well priced as a special offer. The compound structure adds definitive power to grip. unfortunately I was very, very disappointed with poor width of the open jaws of the pliers which is probably only 30% of the standard pair non-compound for this I give 3 stars. For price, power and quality I give 5 stars

Horrible Customer Service. DC515 Dewalt Vac

I have many Dewalt tools. My tools are all 18v. I have been satisfied with all my Dewalt equipment. Some years ago I bought a cordless Dewalt vacumn model DC 515. Still works great. I liked it so much I bought one for a friend.

My friend always complained it was a POS, no suction. I got it back from him and he is right, no suction. I've been trouble shooting it and it is not a battery issue.

This morning I called Dewalt Customer Service. Their Rep first told me they no longer support that model and that it was probably bought secondhand. Total BS, I bought it off the Lowe's website new.

Customer service bad. I'm finished with their products forever. Will never buy another Dewalt product.

Model 2636019 - Saw

It has been over ten days since I contacted Dewalt regarding a defect in my reciprocal saw. The weight of the larger battery is too heavy (in my opinion) for the saw. The area that holds the battery begins to crack and the battery becomes too loose to make a tight fit. It causes the machine to not run smoothly. The same thing happened to an older model I own. This saw has never been dropped. It is a defect in design. I have yet received an answer from the company and it is still under warranty.
