The WORST Car Rental

the WORST car rental!
Reserved online a Hyundai Accent and paid 113 a week before pick up date. On the pick up day I was given a Toyota Yaris which is a smaller car and I was told the price is 89 and the difference will be deposited to my account in 10 days. 3 weeks after, no money back, called the office 3 times, every time was on hold more than 15min so they can "Find my contract". Finally spoke to someone and I was told that there had been a mistake and there is no price difference. I asked for a bigger car and they gave me a smaller car, how is it not different. asked to speak to a manager but "the manager is not there and they don't know when he's coming back".
I do not recommend them to anyone and for sure will NEVER get their service.

Discount used my VISA WITHOUT my authorisation!!!

No professionalism what so ever. They used my VISA card without ever informing me.. imagine that!
Couldn't get my money back untill I contacted my bank about the fraud. My bank made them pay back!!

Avoid by all means!

Worst truck rental experience.

Booked a truck for my move and then was informed via email that they no longer offer interprovincial moves after I had already informed my landlord that I was moving. Luckily I was able to rent a truck from one of their competitors so their loss.

Cheapest for a 7 seater and was a new car. Perfect service.

I hired from your Montreal Airport branch. We got the exact 7 seater which was advertised on the website. Cheapest price around yet we still got a brand new 2019 car. Easy pickup and drop off process. The excess was refunded within 48 hours. I will rent with Discount again. Thank you.

extra charges and Bad customer services

I rent a van on 5:45 pm on last Tuesday and returned it at 6:45 pm on Wednesday. They charged me for two days. Even though they mentioned that they have one hour grace time. this company is the worst I ever had dealt with.
Discount Car is the WORST Car Rental! I've never had worse Customer Experience in my life.

Discount Car is the WORST Car Rental! I've never had worse Customer Experience in my life. They don't give a damn about their customers. I don't even know how they survive. I will be on a mission to make sure none of my friends will rent from Discount Car ever! You can count on it!

My friend was forced to use Discount Car by Intact when her car was in repairs. When we returned it, they started hustling us about 2 dents on the Back Bumper no bigger than 0.5cm wide. You can't even see it until you use a magnifying glass. We swear it was there before, and no one noticed. Now they are making a big deal, charging us hundreds of dollars for repairs. I find it funny how they are willing to change the entire bumper and decommission the car for 2 week for 2 small dents. They can make more money renting it out. Makes no sense. And their mail to my friend is disgustingly rude. Starts off like "You will no doubt recall that ... " All high and mighty. Pisses me off. Enterprise Rent-A-Car won't make any fuss about dents smaller than a golf ball. I didn't realize how good Enterprise was until I saw what true terrible service is... Unbelievable...

HIGH HIDDEN COSTS

We booked a car with DISCOUNT car rental one-way from Calgary airport to Vancouver. The one-way charge of 425 CAD was written clearly on the terms and conditions. However, there was an additional vague sentence: 'One-way rules - you will pay a one-way fee of CAD 1,52 including tax for dropping your car off 0 kilometers away from the counter where you picked it up.' This made absolutely no sense to us so we asked our booking agent to call the agency and found out that this represented an additional CAD 350! Due to this lack of transparency, we cancelled immediately.

Terrible Experience and awful service

Terrible Experience and awful service. They lie to make you pay and then refuse to give you the service. I tried to rent a car because in the main information the said I could use my debit car, then they refuse to accep it, didn’t let me rent the car and also refuse to refund muy payment. That’s a criminal act.
Please don’t use this company full of thiefs

Made a reservation

Made a reservation. In a cab, on the way to pick the car, we get a call saying that they didn't have our car. No apology, just blamed the reservation system. We had it booked for a week, over Christmas, and we're unable to get a replacement for the week.

They sucker you in with low prices then…...

They sucker you in with low prices then add "mandatory" insurance that cost as much as the rental! I have 2 personal auto insurance policies that cover me in Canada and they forced me to buy their insurance too. If you are trying to find a good deal STAY AWAY!!!! Their scam raised my bill 55%!!

Great customer service at the Charlottetown PE location. Upgraded car, clean and comfortable. Convenient to the airport with complimentary shuttle. Great value for a great experience.

Halifax, Nova Scotia Location

After two delays due to t-storms, I finally arrived in Halifax (almost 30 hours after original day and time). Discount Car held my reservation even during their busy season. Justin was very nice and agreed to hold my car reservation. Car was nice ( a new VW Golf) and clean. It was ready to go once I arrived. The only negative I would say is that the office is far removed from the airport and the office is very, very small. A little unorganized and can be crowded when line spills out into a hotel lobby. However, once you get through - the service was outstanding and the desk staff was very friendly. I would rent from them again.

Woodstock, Ontario location

I rented from the Woodstock, Ontario location at the end of March 2019. The truck was a good deal, clean and alright to drive. The deal was 50 kms free per day. I booked the truck for the scheduled 4 days and return it early. They overcharged my credit card for the 200 free kms. I contacted their office after seeing the charge on my credit card to be told they missed crediting me the 200 kms promo. That works out to $44 + tax = $49.72. I have followed up with them 6 times now and still the refund has not been processed.

My advise, if renting a vehicle from them don't do the overnight drop off. Miss a bit of work if necessary but make sure you are there when they are processing your payment or they will over charge you and there is no such thing as a refund. I even sent messages to their head office but never received a response. It's been 5 months so I seen no reason not to give them a bad review.

Dirty vehicles twice in a row

I rented an Expedition in May and a Cadillac CUE in June. Both cars were dirty...I mean bird poop, animal hair dirty. The manager was very apologetic, but when I asked her what she could do about it, she proposed 20% off my next car rental...what a joke.
On my way down to Maryland in May with the Expedition we hit a lot of heavy rain; guess what? The wipers were garbage and needed replacement. So, dirty AND unmaintained vehicles...I also checked the engine bay (since I maintain my vehicles myself) and this too was filthy. The CUE had so much bird poop that I washed it myself...it was cleaner when I returned it than when I picked it up.
Don't rent from Discount Vaudreuil or St-Lazare (at the LouTec) if you care about quality and safety.

DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM

DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM.

We have had a terrible experience booking with this company and are still facing the consequences.
- On the day of pickup there was a massive line and we had to wait for almost 2 hours just to pickup our rental car. Their excuse was that 1 person didn't show up and another took a sick leave. The situation was worse the next day when we returned give the car back so looks like this is just normal.
- We had pre-paid for the car but they claimed that they had no payment our car and forced us to pay a second time if we wanted the vehicle. We showed them the first charge and they said that we need to figure it out with ACE because apparently they "do this a lot". We told them that is between them and ACE but they wouldn't budge so we paid and thought we could figure it out with them later because we thought they made an honest mistake and will rectify it.
- We never got the first payment back. ACE says that they never charged us even though we have that transaction on our statement.
- They held 250$ on our card when we collected the car as guarantee (which is normal). This has not been returned to our card and they claim that they refunded it almost 2 weeks back. We even have our final invoice that shows that we did not get charged for any other fines or gas. - They just made a 4th transaction on our card without our consent! we have not booked anything with them and have no idea why this charge was made.
We are in talks with our bank and if this does not get resolved we may have to report them to the Consumer Protection agency.
Do yourself a favour and NEVER use this company.
