Worst Customer Service Experience Ever
My promotional rate with Dish ends, and they increase my price by $30 a month. I call to see if there is a better deal, and the representative quotes me the Flex package for $75 a month. The package doesn't include the three ESPN channels where most of the college football games are televised. So the rep quotes me $3.50 to add those three ESPN channels.
This quote is now $78.50 a month, which is better than the $121 they just increased my rate to, and a little bit better than the $91 promotional rate I had. However, Hulu was only $60 a month for about the same channels, and unlimited TVs with a Roku, Chromecast, or some other streaming device. I told the rep I would have to review my options and get back with them.
About 2 days later I call Dish back to sign up for the deal. The new rep tells me there is no add-on package for the 3 ESPN channels at $3.50. Those channels can only be obtain in a package with other channels, that we don't want, for a cost of $12+ per month. The rep also told me that these rates are not locked in for the 2-year contract I had to sign up for. I was locked into the contract for 2-years, but Dish could raise the price any time they wanted, and I couldn't cancel the contract because of the price increase, without having to pay the early cancellation fee.
This deal was no longer acceptable. So I told the rep to not do anything, and I ended the call. I immediately started looking at other solutions that would fit my situation better, and I signed up for one.
The evening of the new service installation I call Dish back to cancel my service. The rep immediately asked why I was leaving Dish, and I told him that a previous rep mis-quoted me the ESPN channels, the Dish contract was one sided, and their pricing was too high. This explanation was not enough for this rep. He wanted more, and I didn't have any more to give him. I just wanted to cancel my service, but he would not do it until he had more details about my experience with the other reps. I told him I don't have any more details, and I asked him to review the comments on my account if he needed more details. This was not good enough for this rep. He kept pressing me for more information, and he would not cancel my service. He made me so upset that I started yelling at him to cancel my service, but he just kept pressing my buttons making me more angry. I tried not talking to him until he cancelled the service. We sat in silence, and he still wasn't cancelling my service. I finally told him I want to talk to your supervisor. He asked why I wanted to do that, and I responded so I could complain about him. I repeated over, and over again, I want to talk to your supervisor, until he finally started cancelling my service.
When it was all done, I had spent 30 stressful minutes with this customer service rep (I have other names for him), and I still owed $71+ when it should have been $0.00.
This was the worst customer service experience I have ever had in my life, and I am in my late 50s. Just writing this review makes me angry. By the way, this is the first negative review I have ever written about a company. Needless to say, I will never subscribe to Dish again. Anyone out there looking for TV service, avoid Dish. There are plenty of other options. Also, Direct TV is not one of them. I had a similar issue with them, but that is another story.
Sorry for this long story but if I can keep this from happening to another person, than this review was worth writing. Boycott Dish and Direct TV.
We got crappyservice and need new network providercame Down from upstate NY to Fl for…Cara
We came Down from upstate NY to Fl for 4 months. Have been dish customer for 15 plus years. Hookup was to be Sunday Jan 6 between noon and 5. Time was changed at least 4 or maybe 5 times. Got email tech was on his way. Shortly after a phone call no could come out until Wed Jan 9. Not acceptable. I am upset to say the least. Made the appt before leaving home. No one ever said the tech might not make the appt. Only what span of time to expect someone. Am now looking for a new service.
They gave me an upgrade without asking…
They gave me an upgrade without asking for an upgrade. Then they restarted my 24 months service again. Had a problem with receiver technician guy came out and unknowingly switched my receiver with their newest receiver. My dumbass signed without reading what i was signing and it automatically sre-started my 24 month commitment. They should at least tell u what they are doing and not just assume customer wants latest receiver. I had no idea he switched it to the newest receiver. Read what u sign or they will own u.
Charged for time with no service
Dish customer for 4 years and 6 months. How ironic the department is called the “Loyalty Department” This company is fraudulent and is forcing me to pay for 25 days that I had NO service due to a faulty Satellite. It’s none of your business what I was doing over the Holiday and why I didn’t have time to schedule a tech appointment. Rude management. Fraudulent overcharges. This company does NOT CARE FOR ITS CUSTOMERS. Take your broken satellite and shove it where the sun don’t shine 😆 I will never in my lifetime return to Dish Network. For the last 6 months my channels have been disappearing without warning. Telemundo, Univision, CW, Local News stations, HBO, and Cinemax.....Everyone is jumping off the bandwagon, maybe they are also tired of dealing with this greedy company. $160 a month and couldn’t even watch the channels I originally bought the package for. I will close out my account and pay the total for service actually used. You will never squeeze the money out of me for any service you’re trying to charge me after December 2 when my satellite quit working. Satellite has NO SIGNAL. I called you and informed you it was broken (on December 2) but they are making it seem like I could be lying 🙄 Like how this company lies about every credit they ever said they applied to my account. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON THIS COMPANY!! This is how they treat a loyal customer who’s spent almost 10k on their crappy service over the last 4 years. By charging for services never received. Someone should shut this business down.
Been with dish for 13 years and have…
Been with dish for 13 years and have been happy until we experienced a problem with our signal on a Friday. Service technician was to come the following Tuesday between 12 and 2 then it got bumped till 3 to 415 then bumped to 5 then we were asked if the next day would be ok so we scheduled for 10 to 12 on Wednesday then that got bumped to 315 to 4. Call to tell them that time wouldn't work for us and we wanted priority first appointment Thursday morning. They said they had Friday only available, we told them this was unacceptable and that we have been waiting two days and that they had a 75 minute guarantee and to ask for us to sit at home yet a third day was just not acceptable and we wanted someone out here Thursday at 8 am or we would have to cancel our service. Outcome was we canceled our service. Hated to have to give up our dish service but they were unable to provide us with acceptable service when we needed it.
We decided to go back with Dish instead…
We decided to go back with Dish instead of DirecTv but after we ordered Dish over the phone and was promised we were getting internet plus TV we did not receive any internet at all. No internet and did not even get movie channels for 3 months free. Not sure why they would send a United States phone call overseas and be nothing they told us even transpired. We were told nothing but lies from someone overseas!
i recently order tv service and …
i recently order tv service and internet through dishlatino, when we talked about internet the representative said the internet service was through hugesnet, so i asked him if i order the internet service and if does not work for me can i cancel with out penalties? he said yes!,and the reason i asked was because a while back i heard hugesnet did not have service where i leave, and turns out that did not work since day one and call several times and whatever they said they did to get it to work did not help and now hugesnet wants to charge $400 dollars to cancel a service that works worst than DSL we also loose connection completely at times...
Their Hopper system has more bugs in it …
Their Hopper system has more bugs in it than there are catholics in the Vatican. Example: 1) Can't resume on many programs. 2) All sound suddenly goes mute. Only fix, turn off the TV & then turn it back on. 3) For no known reason all my DVR programs I requested disappear. 4) Trying to stream a series through HBO you pay extra for? Every 3rd or 4th episode gives you a "DOWNLOAD FAILED" prompt. Call up why? Answer, "Don't know, look for it on Youtube" And when you call to complain about all these bugs, they tell you "We're aware of the problems. We're working on it." But it never gets fixed.
Guilty of Forgery
Dish forged my signature to trap me into a 2-year contract. No one in my family signed it. I called the police, they came to my house to take a report. They ended up basically saying that corporations can do whatever they want and there are no consequences.
I LOVE DISH!
I have always had great Customer Service reps and Installers. I never have to wait when I make any changes. I LOVE the Chat service. And when life gets tough, they always work with me. Thanks DISH!
Unreliable service & frequent price increases
Just a couple years back we were paying $46.99 mo. for our package and now that same package is $71.99 mo. Dish likes to play these little games where if you call in and complain they will give you a discount for several months and then it goes right back up again and then some. We are just tired of having to call in and threaten to cancel just to get a fair price, so this time I 'adjusted' our monthly price to ZERO and will move over to Comcast or DirectTV. Was also never really thrilled with the fact their service would go out with nearly every thunderstorm or heavy snow.
The only service that has always been 5 Star!
I have been with Dish for over 19 years consecutively and will never switch for any reason.
I am also the longest subscriber they have as I have been with them since they started until presently with no plans to change.
The reason is due to Dish dominating the market with the best equipment, programming, service and price. They have earned their place with honor, which is very rare these days.
If you try them, and are honest with yourself, you will see what I mean,
Let them show you!
You won't regret it.
I never have.
dish network is awesome
Our tech was great. He hooked everything up. Showed up how to work everything and also their reps are great. I just got the hopper with sling and absolutely love it. I would recommend them to anyone.
Horrible customer service
I have been with Dish for about a year, only because I am under contract and have no other choice. I called over a simple error on their part on the bill and the rep. was super rude. Once my contract is complete, I will leave Dish and never look back, The Internet service is horrible, as it will take you 20 minutes just to check your email. The claims they make in their commercials are false, so be warned.
Poor Service - using the chat session is useless
I attempted to sign up for Dish by using their on-line chat option. Twice. In both cases, I requested a transcript of the conversation confirming the scheduled appointment time for the installation. No technician ever showed up either time. I then called Dish and they indicated that they had me scheduled for different appointment times/dates than what I had set up through their chat sessions. I explained that I had a copy of the transcript (written proof) of the correct appointment times. They indicated that they could not access the chat session information to confirm my information, and they didn't care that I had an e-mail from Dish that proved they had made a mistake. After two attempts and two no-shows, I decided to go with DirecTV.
