Firstly I have to say that the two lads who came to do the work, Danny and Lee, and the plumber Colin, were excellent and competent workers and were a joy to have in the house. However the sales people, the management and call handlers are totally inept and incompetent. Customer service does not exist with this company. We were duped into an installation date of 1st May despite my husband having a major operation on 6th April. I was left without a sink or cooker from first thing on Monday until sink finally installed 4 pm Wednesday and oven and hob late Thursday. This only happened because we badgered them on the phones. They communicate by email which is so cowardly. The cooker hood was not fitted until a week later and the filters were installed on 25th May. The fact we had pay the remainder of the bill before Daniel had even opened his toolbox should have been a warning sign of things to come. We asked for compensation but we’re told that suppliers had let them down owing to the fact they started it on a bank holiday. Not our fault as they chose the date. We were told by salesman they had a cancelled order and men had no work hence the need to get job done quickly. Funny then that whilst the men were available none of the appliances were available. Apparently they would not give us compensation due to the current financial state of the company. Presumably this is due to Brexit, Covid or the war in Ukraine and not to the total incompetence of the management team who hide behind emails. If you are thinking of getting any kitchen work done please bypass this company and save yourself a lot of stress.

We have had an absolute nightmare from start to finish, and we would go out of our way to dissuade anyone from entering a contract with them.

We initially went with DM Design to install our new kitchen, (despite them being markedly more expensive than other suppliers), because they were a local firm, and with what we thought was a 'good reputation' … how wrong could we have been.

It took them 3 years to finally give us the finished kitchen that was agreed, and they now refuse, point blank, to offer any compensation at all.

Just some of the problems we encountered are listed below:

Mis-sold finance agreement. Their ‘Sales Director’ encouraged us sign a credit agreement to give us “3 months free credit” and told us that, if we paid off in full before the first instalment date, it wouldn’t cost us a penny … WRONG – it ended up costing us an additional £1652.58 extra through no fault of our own!!

There were numerous, (major) water leaks from radiators and under-sink plumbing.

Flooring 1: started warping and undulating so had to be replaced.

Flooring 2: started splitting at the joins so had to be replaced.

Flooring 3: has been a success.

Marble worktops were so marked that it took their tradespeople 2 or 3 visits to strip them back and clean them. Worktops were never sealed.

All debris from the job was swept under the units behind the plinth - sawdust, old plugs, screws, etc.

Integrated washing machine was off level and propped up with pieces of plastic (and would walk into the middle of the kitchen every time it was on).

Every time the washing machine spun, the waste-water would come straight up into the kitchen sink.

Plumbing fiasco under the sink meant that every time you tipped a bowl of water down the sink, it came up a pipe in the cupboard below and flooded the place.

Cupboard doors were out of alignment.

Numerous missed appointments - despite saying they would attend on a certain day, on several occasions, they just didn't show, causing loss of earnings. There was never a phone call from company to alert us to the fact that things had changed, or indeed to apologise.

We encountered extremely rude and aggressive customer service, with absolutely non-existent after sales care.

After securing the initial sale, every engagement from DM Design was reactive to either a phone call or email from us, as opposed to proactive.

Their Managing Director agreed with us, (in person), that once all issues had been resolved, he would visit us in our home to discuss the problems we had encountered. He has now gone back on this commitment and is refusing to personally acknowledge any emails.

We now have the kitchen we should have had 3+ years ago, but the shambolic and harrowing journey to get to this point has stripped the enjoyment we should have had from our new kitchen. We vehemently believe that we are entitled to compensation.

DM Design, however, say: “We are unfortunately not in a position to offer any compensation at this time of austerity but will continue to honour the terms and conditions of our contractual guarantee. We believe that whilst the journey could certainly have been smoother you have a very high standard of kitchen installation in your home”.

The standard of kitchen we now have is not IN dispute, what IS in dispute though, is the absurd length of time it TOOK DM Design to eventually provide this standard of kitchen.

The bottom line is, that it took them almost 3 years to complete a job which should have taken only a matter of weeks; the prolonged and protracted nature of which, (along with just SOME of the problems we had to endure being noted above), has caused us immeasurable stress.

PLEASE STEER CLEAR!!

Garry Connor came to visit, drew up a beautiful plan for a new kitchen. Great knowledge and experience. So far so good, will report back once work has been carried out.

I gave the team a 5 star review 4 years ago when the completely renovated and transformed the ground floor of my house, 4 years later some of the kitchen was damaged thanks to some careless workman, and once again the team at DM Design came to my rescue. In less than 24 hours they delivered replacement pieces. Once again AMAZING customer service.

DM Design fitted our kitchen about 15 years ago. One of the hinges on the cabinet door used most often failed. DM Design supplied four replacement hinges for me free of charge. Great service, thank you.

I have just had the kitchen installed and cannot praise the Daniels enough. All workmen were helpful and happy to explain what was going on. The plumber, electrician, and everyone connected with the job were respectful.

I recently got a kitchen and bathroom installed by DM Design. And the overall impression I got was their happy to take your money but the job seemed rushed. The finishes weren't good, some didn't look nice and I had to get things fixed. So all in all, I personally wouldn't recommend them, look elsewhere.

The company were excellent to deal with from start to finish from Anne who booked my appointment to Gary who did the initial design through to James who undertook the survey work to Derek and his team who did the actual instal.

I thought having a kitchen fitted would be very stressful but in actual fact it was not as every detail was handled. Derek and his team were amazing. I was introduced to every tradesperson and all were friendly, polite and respectful. I was kept up to date with what work was being undertaken. Everyone went above and beyond to ensure the job was finished to a very high standard. It was a pleasure to have them in my home and would thank Derek particularly for his efforts.

The kitchen itself is beautiful! The quality is clear to see. The design works and makes best use of the space. I am absolutely delighted with it!

Overall I found DM Design an excellent company to deal with and would highly recommend them to anyone. Customer service is at the heart of what they do along with quality. Everyone I dealt with had a “can do” attitude which was extremely refreshing.

If I could give more stars I would.

I honestly cannot praise the onsite team enough - they worked hard from the day they arrived right up to the last finishing touches and my kitchen is absolutely perfect.

Any issues that cropped up from our old Kitchen were sorted swiftly and nothing seemed like too much trouble.

We had the full works done - rip out, plumbing, electrics and plastering on top of the joiners fitting the kitchen and all on site staff were impeccable. Danny was on site most days and his work couldn't be faulted.

The surveyor James was really good at explaining things that wouldn't work and reasons why but also suggesting other ideas instead resulting in my dream kitchen.

Would have no issues in getting them back in for future work on the house.

Avoid this company at all costs! After 4 years the laminate detached from the doors and they blamed a faulty batch provided by an external contractor. They provided replacements but wanted to charge us for fitting - we did it ourselves as we weren’t willing to give them another penny. Unsurprisingly, the same thing happened with the replacements and we now have a kitchen held together with tape! After another complaint their best offer was trade price on replacement doors. Their pricing is all ‘smoke and mirrors’ at the best of times so we didn’t even ask for a cost and have taken our business elsewhere. Strongly suggest that others do the same. Your kitchen might look good but it probably won’t last and you only have 5 years warranty.

From start to Finnish I can not recommend them enough . The quality is super . Ann came to the house and designed what we wanted and even gave us options. Ann was not pushy and let us think about it before deciding .
The date was set for fitting and they came exactly when they said . It wasn’t an easy job as it was an old house and nothing is straight !! Ferdi and Karim were excellent and the quality of workmanship was far beyond my expectations . Nothing was too much for Ferdi and his team . I would definitely have him for future work in the house as his attention to detail and pride in his work isn’t seen much these days .
There were a couple of snags which were sorted with out any problem ( not fitting snags ) .
I would definitely recommend DM design for a kitchen . Thank you Ann, Ferdi, Karim and all Ferdi’s team .

This company was excellent to deal with. I needed my spare room done up as a priority and they really came through for me and have done an excellent job. Very good quality materials and fitted to a high standard. Anne the designer was absolutely lovely also and helped me get the most out of what is a pretty small space.

Despite a few hiccups along the way, DM Design have created lovely fitted wardrobes and free standing bedside drawers. The latter are fabulous. Fitting was completed on time and to a high standard and the small problem that emerged was dealt with efficiently and effectively. Happy with the end result.

The quality of the design from DM Design Surveyor James is exceptional including a tricky boiler area which looks amazing now. The finish of cabinets and worktops from DM Design is exquisite. Absolutely delighted with kitchen overall. Thank you.
Alan/Craig fitters have done a tremendous job slightly hampered by being taken off job to go to other jobs with not enough time so small snags left unfinished because of rushed scheduling.
Nathan electrician has also done a fantastic job again a bit rushed so small snags needed completed as scheduling demands forced him to rush away.
Plumber Chris “saved lives” due to gas leak discovered for us and the whole of our street. We will be forever grateful. Perhaps some training needed for installation of Quooker tap as plumbing needed revised.
Colin plumber rectified professionally and expertly.
John and Lee came to remedy all remaining issues today and now finally our kitchen is complete.

Although the initial process was ok the design for the kitchen was altered but the alteration was not passed on by the salesman so the wrong cupboards were installed this was rectified by switching the wall mounted cupboards and putting an extension on the top of the large floor mounted cupboards, the finish of the entire was poor with the fitters and builders having to revisit multiple times to rectify shoddy poor workmanship, the operations manager was unhelpful condescending and rude he even told me my expectations on the finish standard of the kitchen were to high, the job was scheduled for 3 weeks and was finally completed after 6 months although we are still waiting for a replacement drawer for the freezer for a job started in June 2022 we are in 2023 now. I would not recommend this company in any capacity they are a disgrace any other provider would have made an offer of compensation or at the very least an apology for traume and inconvenience caused. Please avoid at all costs, Address 23 Westwood Quadrant

But I must mention young Daniel who was the main fitter he is the most genuine humble lad ever to work in our home nothing was a bother to him
We actually felt at the end of the job we were part of the DM DESIGN family
Would recommend this company before any other now and we certainly done a lot of research before finally deciding on our stunning kitchen

At no time where we pressured or felt obligated to sign any purchase agreements, we genuinely feel that the kitchen designer understood our requirements and stuck within our budget. The result.. we ended up with our dream kitchen.

We had a kitchen fitted in May 2022. Ann our designer came and was so efficient and informative measured everything and gave us a good range of kitchens to select. There was no hard sell which is a bonus. There was a delay in fitting but that was down to us as we had lots of structual work to do first and got let down by various tradesmen but DM design were very patient. It took 2 days to fit the kitchen and we love it very good quality made to last. Would not hesitate to recommend.
