I’ve been using this garage for years…

I’ve been using this garage for years and will continue to do so , I have never had a bad experience .
I’ve used DMS for big and small problems with my cars in the past and all to a high degree of satisfaction , even to the point where I haven’t even been charged for some of the work they have carried out .
Ive recently had a lot of rain water entering my car over the last couple of months , turns out it was in several places that DMS eliminated one by one , I was not charged for the work carried out till it was proven the issue was resolved ,and would catch up with me when I called in next , I took my car for an oil change today and told them that the car was no longer letting in rainwater so they had indeed eliminated the problem and I needed to pay for that work , I was told not to worry about it , they didn’t want a payment .Now that’s a level of service you don’t come across very often so felt i needed to write this review as I do have a tendency to overlook reviews .

Fantastic service

Fantastic service! They managed to fit me in at the last minute after another garage let me down for my MOT. The receptionist was extremely helpful.

I will be back :)

Avoid this garage

I took my van here and was told it needed a wet belt replacement. Turns out — after checking with the manufacturer and getting a second opinion — my van doesn’t even have a wet belt!! No work was done, but the advice was completely wrong and could’ve cost me a fortune if I hadn’t double-checked.
I’m now taking legal advice and reporting this to Trading Standards and the Institute of the Motor Industry. If you rely on your vehicle for work or need accurate info, I’d seriously recommend going elsewhere.

Your vehicle was booked in for an Class 7 MOT, last minute because the garage that you booked it in with mistakenly booked you in as a Class 4 and upon your arrival cancelled as they were unable to carry out a Class 7 MOT. We carried out an MOT here at DMS on 01/10/25, where the vehicle then failed on emissions, and a print out was given to yourself from the machine to prove this was the case.

The vehicle was then collected the same day, where myself, David Sanderson, had a conversation with you, about the emissions problem and suggested what could be causing a high emissions reading and excessive black smoke. You indicated that you wanted us here at DMS to have a look at the fault, but couldn't bring the vehicle back for us to do so, as you were going on holiday.

I suggested that IF the vehicle had a wet belt, you would you need to check the history of the wet belt i.e if it has been changed at any point, or not, before we could carry out any sort of diagnostics on your vehicle, due to it being common fault of them snapping at any time for no reason. You agreed with this and left relatively happy to go and check this out, and this is the first communication we have had since the vehicle being collected.

I did NOT at any point, tell you that your van had a wet belt. I asked you to check this for yourself, because on a 2015 transit i am WELL aware that these could either have a wet belt or a chain. As you are the owner of the vehicle, it is your responsibility to keep a record and inform any garage/technician working on your vehicle when the wet belt has been changed, due to these snapping at any time .

It is good practice for all garages, to remind you of the wet belt issue, with any transit custom. We would not know if your vehicle had a chain or a wet belt, until we investigated this (which you are aware we didn't do, because you made no other payment towards us, other than a mot)

No arrangements were made with ourselves to investigate. If we had carried out an investigation, yes would of informed you that your vehicle does not in fact have a wet belt, and we would of carried out further investigating on why your vehicle failed on emissions and would of returned back to yourself with a quote for repairs.

To reiterate, I did NOT at any point tell you your vehicle had a wet belt, i said IF it has one, check when/if it has ever been replaced. You never paid for a diagnostics with ourselves, it was a conversation we had as we wasn't sure why it had failed on the emissions without an investigation taking place.

To conclude, I did NOT confirm your vehicle had a wet belt or a chain this conversation is recorded on our in office CCTV camera which we will be happy to provide if you still choose to seek legal advice.

First and LAST time I will ever use DMS…

First and LAST time I will ever use DMS Auto Services! Collected my vehicle as requested following a diagnostic test. With no receipt, invoice or breakdown of work carried out I asked the receptionist if I could have a brief discussion with the mechanic to discuss and take some advice. She left towards the bays and returned shortly after to inform me “he’s too busy to speak to you right now”. I told her I’d wait until he was free. Having sat waiting in my vehicle within the car park for 10 minutes and unsure if he knew I was waiting, I moved my vehicle over towards the bays to be seen. Indeed I was seen and said mechanic, presumably the owner continued working in the bay. I waited patiently sat within my car for him to become available. After about 10 more minutes he shouted across to me to move my car as i couldn’t park there. I politely asked if I could have a brief discussion about the work carried out when he was free and informed him I’d return to the car park. A further 10 minutes passed sat patiently waiting for him sat within my car until he approached. His attitude and demeanour was shocking! Instantly on the offensive when all i wanted was a discussion as his customer. I’ve never met such a rude, arrogant, confrontational and intimidating little man! Needless to say, I challenged his behaviour and attitude towards me which only lead to him becoming even more agitated, abusive and threatening. A heated discussion took place with him threatening violence before I left not having had the simple discussion regarding my car I was seeking! Disgusting way to conduct himself with paying customers. I have reported the matter and this garage to the AA with whom they are affiliated to, and have also informed external governing bodies. Having since read several similar experiences to my own, I suggest anyone thinking of having work here to think again! Avoid this place like the plague unless being spoken to by Mr Angry with his unhinged customer service skills is your thing. 😳😳😳

DMS - Extremely Poor

Extremely poor customer service, very dishonest with their pricing (their own website advertises “transparent pricing with no hidden fees and clear upfront pricing for all our services”. This is untrue.

The attitude of the owner when contesting an invoice was extremely poor (“the bill is the bill, you’ve got to pay it”) and then followed by “don’t come back”.

Strange attitude to take when again, their own website advertises “taking customer service seriously, striving for improvement in all aspects of our operations”. Unbelievable.

This is the 5th vehicle I have taken to them and had issues with. Their workmanship is poor and customer service is next to nonexistent.

DMS have build up a very poor reputation in the local area, not just for their hidden inflated prices, but also for the poor workmanship what when carrying our repairs.

I would strongly recommend using one of the many other garages in the local area, and steer clear of DMS.

Good afternoon, Mr. French.

You booked your vehicle in for both lower arms, and did not ask for a quote. Even though when you contested the bill, you told us that prior to booking your vehicle in with us you had priced it at multiple other garages (including main dealer), which I’m failing to understand why you would price it everywhere besides with the actual garage you had booked the work in with. As you were showed when you collected the vehicle the price of main dealer lower arms, it isn’t possible that main dealer could’ve quoted you a cheaper price than what you were charged by us.

Whilst your vehicle was in with us, you were called and made aware that the bolts were seized and that they will require cutting out and replacing, you still did not request a quote. We do not provide quotes unless requested, but if a vehicle is in with us and we find a further or separate fault we call the customer and make them aware to get authorization, just like what we did with you, yet you still did not request a quote.

As you’ve stated in this review that ‘this is the 5th vehicle you have taken to us and had issues with’. Yet you have returned each time and never raised an issue previously. We are unable to solve previous issues if we are not aware of them at the time and you are continuing to return for other work.

You were told that there was nothing we could change on the bill for you to ‘make it cheaper’ as the work had already been carried out, which was authorized by yourself on the phone (all of our phone calls are recorded and we have audio recording on our reception CCTV system, which both of these can be downloaded.) In conjunction with this, the attitude you received was a reply to you saying ‘I am never coming back here’ followed by swearing (which you did apologist to the receptionist for) , so yes, you were told to not return.

Moral of the story.. request a quote and you will receive one. Don’t request a quote, and you won’t receive one.

After “repairs”, the car broke down the very next day

We’ve broken down in the middle of nowhere on Saturday night, around midnight, 100 miles away from home. Got towed here by AA as “an approved AA garage”, paid over £200 to get the car investigated and fixed. Of course not at first, because after initially paying AA to investigate the issue and plan for further repairs, we’ve been asked to pay £350 to get the car towed to where we live as the garage “didn’t have time to investigate for the next two weeks”, despite us paying for “30-minutes assessment in the next 48 hours”. Of course we refused without knowing what the fault is, as we really didn’t want to spend £350 for something that might be more cost effective to fix at the garage. Anyways. After making a formal complaint to AA, the garage found time to investigated and we were happy to pay extra to do so. The next day, I’ve received a text message asking me to pick up the car ASAP. When asked for a report detailing the cause of a breakdown, I've received literally nothing, despite calling AA Smart Care and asking for details (the report only said “wires investigation” and “car parts fitted”). When I called AA, they called the garage, and then got quite rudely told to “pick up the car as the garage phoned me already”. I’ve found an additional driver on Saturday, drove back over 100 miles to pick up the car as supposedly “there was no space on the yard” to pick up the car on Tuesday (the parking was empty when we arrived). As soon as we hit M4, the engine light came off and the car broke down again the very next morning (same issue as when we left the car at the garage). Being disappointed is an understatement and trust me when I say that I’ll be escalating this further. Do not recommend.

Exceptional! I highly recommend this garage.

I've had 3 good experiences so far with this garage. Always reliable, trustworthy and friendly.

I will continue to use this garage as and when my car requires attention.

Thank you so much to you & your team! I appreciate having a reliable and good garage!

Very strange experience

Very strange experience, I had booked two vehicles for repair, arrived on day 1 with the 1st vehicle and they had mixed up the bookings with another customer. I asked if they could accept the 2nd vehicle a day early to be told it had to be 8am on the day of the booking, I could not physically get the vehicle there for 8am so cancelled the booking. Because I cancelled they then would not repair the vehicle they already had on site. Emotional and childish response. Tried to give a local business a chance but they didn't want the business. Very poor experience.

hi steve.
yes when you came in there was a mix up that i sorted but you had bad attitude! but i worked past that and you left the van with us.
sometime later you rang and demanded that we take the other van the same day or half the way through the day it was booked in. we informed you that we could not have it in the same day as the first one due to space and to have it in half way through a day was no good to us, so it was your choice to cancel you booking because we would not do as you wanted, you are the childish one not me. you are very rude and demanding so yes i cancel the first van you had dropped off
because i did not want to deal with a rude childish customer. hope you get your van fixed but you need to work with the garage and not be so rude and demanding

Great service

Great service! Went to have wheels balanced at ATS on a Friday afternoon was told they were fine, they were not. Called DMS around 4.30pm that afternoon and they were willing to squeeze me in early Saturday. Balanced the wheels, was very helpful and polite. Couldn't be happier with the service.
