Disappointed customer
We went to Dobbies Royston this afternoon to have coffee and cream scones which was on the menu at 2 for 1.
The lady at the till said we do not do cream scones at this branch.I pointed out that previously when the Manager Jed was on duty he improvised by honouring the offer and providing scones with a tub of cream. She then said that they did not have any cream and anyway the offer did not apply to their branch.Perhaps,it should not be on their menu. Also the staff member needs training in customer service

Restaurant has a full menu again
Restaurant has a full menu again - very nice indeed!
No longer any cake or scones for vegans at the restaurant.
As a Dobbies club member I dropped into Dobbies restaurant to claim my free drink. They had a lovely selection of 10 cakes there, but not a single one was a vegan option, nor were any of the scones. They used to always have one vegan cake and their plain scones were vegan. Why have they gone backwards with their offerings? Is the decision maker a 'veganist'? (Is that a word?) Disappointed to see how little Dobbies cares about their vegan customers.
Staff with bad attitude.
Nice cafe and food. Spoilt by staff with bad attitude, rude and humorless. I visited at 3.30 for tea and cake. The cafe was almost empty, the staff were standing around chatting and doing very little. Lots of bad reviews for this Cafe. Come on whoever owns it sort it out. It could be such a good place to eat.

Misleading/inadequate signage
Visited Dobbies, Royston,on Sat. 26/08/2023, where we noticed a 50%off Sale sign near the entrance. We assumed this was for most items. It should have read "50% off Selected Items". This would be more clear for customers who may have individual budgets.
At nearly 3 pm( it was 14.55), in Dobbies restaurant, the menu stated that Main Courses were available 11.30 to 3 pm, & that the other food was served after 11.30. No indication about the time limit on the menu.
The staff member at the till said the 3 pm rule applied to everything on the menu! & that the kitchen was closed.
The menu should be more clear, also have a sign up stating that last food orders should be, for e.g at 14.30. Also remove the menus if you're not going to serve what's on them!
So, we couldn't get even a sandwich!, We ordered drinks & small cakes instead. Hungry & disappointed after spending a large amount in Dobbies garden centre.
Also very disappointed that there weren't many good discounts at the end of the summer season, and that I spent much more than I wanted to that day!!

Friendly staff
Great variety
Easy to park, lovely large bright store, clean, very reasonably priced, great variety & quality
My favourite garden centre
Great selection of plants and pots, and always super friendly and helpful staff.
Dobbies price promise
Dobbies has a price promise if something is cheaper elsewhere they will match it which they did with no fuss it was quick and easy and delivered a few days later the whole experience was very pleasant and the staff member we dealt with was wonderful.
Good quality plants and friendly staff
Plants well set out , easy to get around staff very helpful.
Extremely difficult to assemble!
We bought a 4 seater Alp garden set. The furniture was delivered on time today at around 12.30 pm and we immediately set about unpacking the 4 packages (quite a task in itself!) and putting the table together. The top had to be fitted to the 4 base parts with 8 bolts through 8 sets of joining holes which were supposed to marry up. Three and a half hours later, with extremely aching backs and frayed tempers. we were still struggling and finally had to give up trying to insert the final bolt as the connecting holes were completely out of kilter. So though we were expecting a quality product for the price, we were sorely disappointed and only thankful we hadn't bought a larger version with presumably more ill fitting components! We shall we going back to Dobbies tomorrow to find out why the whole process has had to be so tortuous!

Unfortunately our experience in the…
Unfortunately our experience in the restaurant was appalling, The time we had to wait for a cup of tea and a coffee was just under 40 minutes, the staff were very slow and a lot of the tables had used crockery and rubbish still left on them, very disappointing trip. Shall not visit again nor recommend

Feel disappointed
Thought that the garden center was ok but the plants are very expensive. We had our lunch there but unfortunately the fish was very over cooked and dried out inside a very hard batter, it also wasn’t very hot. We also had to wait for over 30mins for it to arrive because they are obviously under staffed.
Disgusted
We visited Dobbies and decided to have lunch there. My husband and I both ordered fish and chips and a cold drink, which my husband brought back to the table. We then waited half an hour before the meal came. My husband asked for tomato ketchup and vinegar as there were none in the box on our table. The waitress looked flustered at this request so took the bottles from another table. There was no ketchup in that bottle. The chips were fine but the fish was more like a half portion and dried onto the batter. My peas were hard and cold.
While waiting for my husband to order, I watched another waitress clear a table next to me, recently vacated by a family with babies. As she passed me with the loaded tray she said that a used nappy had been left by them - NOT something I wanted to be told when I was about to eat. She did not come back to wipe the table. Later a man came round and wiped some tables, but missed this one even though you see a puddle of water on it! I worry for your hygiene standards. We will not be visiting again.
