Great customer service

In any business, things do occasionally go wrong - but how the business responds is what is important. We ordered some light switches that unfortunately had a manufacturing defect but Oliver in Internal Sales resolved the issue to our full satisfaction by working with the manufacturer to arranged for new switches to be sent to us.

Great Communication and Service - Genuinely Impressed

I think companies really show their colours when solving problems and Downlights Direct did this brilliantly. Great Service. I made a mistake on my order and needed to cancel part of it. The refund was in my account overnight. With just one simple email. Very good communication. Loved that the ai responder acknowledged it was not human by saying - going to pass this onto my human colleague from here! Very good.

Great customer service

I had an issue with my original order (my fault) and needed some follow-up items as a result of my change of requirements. The DD team responded quickly to my follow-up request, clarified what I needed and were very flexible in providing the new items.

I would not recommend this company

I would not recommend this company. I had to return my order due to the light being unsuitable for the room intended for. I paid postage for the return but didn’t hear anything for nearly 2 weeks. I telephoned the company to check they had received it and that I would like a full refund. I was told they would get back to me. They did the following day and told me I was unable to have a full refund due to item being scratched! I can 100% say the item was not scratched I only took it out of the box to see the design was to my liking and then I carefully placed it back in the box as I found it and took to the post office.
It took many attempts and perseverance for the company to finally agree to give me my full refund.

Great after sales support.

I ordered several rechargeable LEDs for wardrobes, cupboards and the like. They were Integral models and most of them were defective re: charging.

It took some time but Downlights Direct replaced them all. I would have opted for a different product if I purchased again but support was exceptional.

Great website and company but slightly let down by website.

Great company, good products with lots of selection options and a great place to shop for any lighting project. Let down slightly but their website and stock availability, can be a little misleading when one product says "Available for next day delivery" but another might have no stock at all or low stock. I think it could be easily solved by a warning message in the basket. Additionally the AI chatbot was a bit frustrating at times.

Regardless, my lights look amazing and I'd definitely shop here again.

Close to giving up....

I was really struggling to find some LEDs that met my rather tight spec from a pre-existing outdoor installation. I had spent a few hours researching and called a number of lighting companies but was close to giving up. I called Downlights Direct, explained my need and after a few hours (TBH I had forgotten about the call) - Edward called me back with a product that did the job! I ordered them, arrived the next day (I paid for special delivery) and fitted all ok. I couldn't be happier with the service and will definitely be using again. Shout-out to Edward Partington!

Bulbs never in stock - refund requested

Clearly they were waiting for an order. String me along with a few mails then after a week said the order never came in
Will avoid in future - lots of companies out there with good service

Items listed ‘in stock’ are not

All items were listed as ‘in stock’, then no communications for a week except the invoice. On enquiry, informed items were ‘on back order with the supplier’. Gonna miss my deadline. Not happy.

AN AMAZING COMPANY

An absolutely amazing company.
Called directly a couple of times as I wasn't sure which downlights to order.
The sales rep ( sorry didn't get his nane) was very knowledgeable and took the time to discuss my requirements.
I ordered my downlights at 2pm on Thursday with standard delivery and to my amazement, they were delivered at 09.45am the next morning.
Extremely well packed and exactly as described. Very competitive price.

Missleading selling on the website.

Be careful about the details of the products you are buying.
Downlights direct mis sell an LED light actually labelled LED bulkhead that if you check the smallprint this light hasn't actually got any LEDs in it to make any light, their response is "didn't you check the smallprint? You have to buy the LED lights to go inside the LED lights you have purchased" so now the LED lights are £20odd more than any other seller of these type lights. If I have to pay to return the 3 lights for a refund this review will downgraded to a 1 star.

I have checked and you have ordered the shell for an LED gear tray to go into. This was stated in the description on the page when you ordered this and explained when you emailed in. We've not put this into any smallprint, we've added this to a bullet point on the description saying 'Lamps Not Included' and sent you a link to the correct lamps for this fitting.

I can assure you we don't try to hide this and infact supply all of the information possible on the listing. The listing also doesn't contain any wattage/colour temperature on there due to the fact this comes lampless. Also the email never said 'Didn't you check the small print', I'd responded to an enquiry asking where the lamp was, and I politely explained this didn't come with any lamps.

As these are unwanted goods, the postage would be down to your cost usually, as we have supplied the correct items. However in this instance, if you give me a call, I can arrange a collection and supply of a similar design bulkhead with integrated LEDs.

Excellent customer service

I have bought twice soffit lights from this company and my experience has been really good.

The purchase process was easy and the information provided was very good and including all relevant details.

Delivery was quick and all items arrived in perfect condition, well wrapped.

I had an issue with one of the soffit lights a few weeks after installation and Oliver was really helpful. He sent a replacement unit as quick as possible. This is what I call an excellent customer service when something goes wrong.

I will highly recommend this company and I will use it in the future again.

Brilliant service

Brilliant service.
Found what I needed easily on the website and ordered on the Friday morning on standard delivery and was shocked when DPD delivered them at 10am Saturday morning. Had them installed by 12pm.
What a great company and outstanding service. Will use and recommend them for future use.

Good experience with this company

Great customer service. Harrison sorted out a small issue with my order promptly and efficiently. He did exactly what he said he would do, which often isn't the case these days. Friendly, polite and efficient. Goods arrived less than 24 hours after order placed. Would definitely use again.

Very Disappointing Experience

Before I placed the order I called to check if all the items were in stock. I was advised that there was over 100 lights in stock and enough white bezels to fulfil my order. The black bezels were on order and DownlightsDirect advised they checked with the manufacturer who held stock and they would follow within a few days.

My order was placed based on the above advice, I also paid extra for DPD NEXT DAY GUARANTEED delivery, so that I could fit the lights immediately.

Imagine my surprise to receive only three lights. What was the point of paying extra for next day delivery.

It appears that I was either deliberately misled, the staff were incompetent.

I have contacted the company and will keep you informed.

A very disappointing experience.

Thanks for your review and apologies for the issues with the delivery of your order.

As discussed on the phone on Saturday and Monday, your order seems to have uncovered a glitch when it comes to stock held in multiple depots. As you can see from the website and your order confirmation, some of the items you ordered were held in both our main Rochdale depot and the rest in our West Yorkshire depot. If you would have selected 'Next Day Delivery' on the site at the time of ordering, this would have been shipped in full from our West Yorkshire depot and there would have been no issues. As you chose 'Part Ship Stocked Items' at the point of purchase, the order was only actioned from our main Rochdale Depot and the remaining stock was transferred across to us to ship from here when it landed. I explained that this was the first time we had seen this happen, and this was passed onto our web designer immediately to put a fix in place.

As per our call on Saturday, I then followed this up first thing on Monday with the other depot and called you to let you know exactly what was happeneing. Also we have refunded the £3+VAT delivery charge as discussed, this should hit your account any day now.

Once again, apologies for any inconvenience caused here, it did uncover a glitch in our multi depot system.

Thursday 6th June 2024 – Order placed because they have 100’s in stock!!

AVOID this company like a bad head cold, ‘Hassle FREE Delivery’ & ‘Exceptional customer service’ this company needs to check the dictionary as to the meaning of these amazing words of wisdom.

They claim to offer a worldwide ‘Hassle FREE Delivery’, total rubbish, lets blame DPD.

Delivery to Ireland is simple, AMAZON do it all the time, but not SPOTLIGHTS DIRECT, they have an excuse for everything, stock in the wrong place, DPD never collected, DPD app failed, DPD label printer faulty, and finally if everything else fails blame good old BREXIT, guys its now over FOUR years since the UK left the EU, wake up and get your act together, Pals!!

“Hi,We are just awaiting a stock transfer on the bezels before the order ships, they are held at our Warrington depot however they don't have the facilities to ship to Ireland therefore this will be dispatched and the tracking will be sent over on Monday.Kind regards, Oliver”

I would NEVER rely on this company sending me any products, ever again, and neither should you, nearly a week into my order and I still have no magic tracking number from DPD, or delivery date, absolutely nothing except grief, and lots of it.

I have wasted nearly an hour on the phone to them chasing up my order daily, they never inform you of why there is a delay, they do absolutely nothing, now that is not EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE, that’s totally appalling customer service, Pals.

“Hi, I've checked and the bezels landed from our other warehouse too late to leave yesterday I'm afraid. I've spoken to the warehouse and these will leave today.Thanks, Matt”

After nearly a week of waiting for the order of 26 downlighters to be sent to Southern Ireland, this is there reason, their standard, non apologetic, just blame everyone but them.

“Hi, I've had a look and unfortunately sometimes we have issues with auto despatches on DPD with exports, whereby the label will not correctly come off. It seems this has happened with this order and we have DPD looking into this. This was one of the major issues surrounding brexit. I've spoken to them and this should be resolved today.I know this order has been slightly delayed and I can only apologise about this. If you do need any further orders from ourselves, please come direct to me and I can see what I can in the way of a goodwill discount. Kind regards, Matt Smith”

I have emailed them FOUR times today asking for the tracking number, but never a reason, EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE and HASSLE FREE!!!!, appalling....

Thanks for your review, we do appreciate all feedback whether positive or negative, as it helps us grow as a company.

As explained to you on the phone and by email, unfortunately export orders can be delayed slightly due to the booking system on DPD failing at this end. We have taken off delivery times from the website for all export orders for this reason, as we are aware they can be delayed for a day or two.

We explained these were coming in from another warehouse which didn't have the facilities to export and they were due into us on Monday. We waited for these to land on Monday, however as we said by email, they landed after our courier had left. The DPD label then failed on the Tuesday which meant this then ran into Wednesday for the shipment to leave us.

We explained this would be the case to yourself on the phone and by email and told you a rough time you'd receive the tracking. This was emailed to you by DPD themselves early on Wednesday as we promised. I've looked and of the 4 emails you sent, one was late morning and then a further 3 within a minute of each other asking for the tracking that DPD had already emailed to you.

We have done everything we could with this order, and I appreciate the 2 day delay may have been an inconvenience, however we don't list a timescale for export deliveries due to the issues having arisen on past export orders.

We always let you know of any delays and even let you know when you would receive the tracking, which was on the day we said it would be.

I also refunded 10% of your order as a goodwill gesture and we have always got back to you in a timely manner.

The best advisor of down light store in UK

I've been struggling to find a down light bulb in my bathroom for the last 4 months, as it's been discontinued. I asked everyone in my flat and experts in shops but it was very hard to find a similar model.
After searching for a long time, I found a Down light Direct website and asked an advisor. Matthew Smith patiently checked all the model numbers and ceiling size for a long time and he found the right model for me!!
He is a real expert, very kind and patient. He said he has been working in the field for a long time. Very lucky to meet him today. If you find a down light bulb. I 200% recommend the Downlights Direct. I guess Matthew and Downlights Direct are the best down light advisor/Shop in the UK. All the residents of my flat will be very grateful for his help! Thank you so much!
