Extremely Disappointed – Nickel Content in DOXA Clive Cussler Edition Unacceptable

I had high hopes when I purchased the DOXA Clive Cussler edition watch. As a fan of both quality timepieces and the Cussler legacy, this seemed like the perfect match. Unfortunately, I can't even wear the watch due to its excessively high nickel content.

I’ve tested the watch bracelet using two different nickel test kits, and both clearly indicate that the level of nickel exceeds the legal limits. This is unacceptable, especially from a premium brand like DOXA that markets itself as offering high-quality Swiss craftsmanship.

When I contacted DOXA, they claimed that the test results are false positives – allegedly caused by “other types of reagents” in the material, not nickel. That’s simply not convincing. For the record: I have no issues wearing any other steel or bronze watches, including models from other well-known brands, and even a €50 Casio causes zero reaction. But the DOXA? Instant skin irritation.

I’m deeply frustrated that I paid a premium for a watch I literally cannot wear. It’s baffling and honestly disappointing that DOXA won’t acknowledge the real issue here. Their response feels dismissive and evasive.

Until DOXA takes material sensitivity seriously – or at the very least, becomes more transparent about what they’re actually using in their metal alloys – I can’t recommend their watches to anyone with even mild sensitivity to nickel.

Buyer beware.

The worst

The worst. They have an absolutely absurd return policy. They are completely inflexible. Would not accept return of a bracelet that I bought from them that was never opened and in all original packaging even though I only wanted credit toward the purchase of a new watch. I didn't need a new watch AND an additional bracelet. The bracelet was never opened. And they had a record of my purchase of the product directly from them. Just stupid and inflexible. I would never buy anything from them.

Very poor customer service

I have been regular customer and big advocate for brand for many years now. But unfortunately the company has gone down so much lately. Miss billing, changing promised dates on delivery many times with out notice or explanation. Very poor customer service.
