I am sharing this to warn the UK biking…

I am sharing this to warn the UK biking community. This retailer demonstrated a staggering lack of product knowledge and resorted to disgraceful intimidation tactics to avoid a standard return.

I purchased a set of Stomp Grips—a standard DIY part—which arrived with defective adhesive. The merchant’s 'expert' excuse was that an adhesive pad requires 'professional shop installation.' If a specialist bike shop truly believes a peel-and-stick adhesive pad is a complex mechanical task, they are clearly out of their depth. It was a transparent and embarrassing attempt to avoid a return that contradicts the manufacturer’s own DIY instructions.

Most absurdly, the merchant attempted to claim that requesting a return for a faulty item was 'fraud.' They even provided a 'Police Crime Reference Number' in a desperate attempt to intimidate me. It is hard to fathom how a business owner can be this clueless. Fraud requires dishonest gain; returning a defective physical item for a refund is a basic consumer right. Using the police as a 'heavy' to silence customers is a disgusting abuse of the system.

Thankfully systems like PayPal are there to protect consumers and provided a full refund once returned.

This business is rude, technically clueless, and legally illiterate. They prefer to throw around baseless police threats rather than provide basic customer service. Save yourself the headache and buy from a reputable dealer who actually understands the parts they sell.

UPDATE:

The merchant’s response above is a perfect example of the obstructive experience I’ve described. I would like to clarify the facts for the record:

No Abuse or Foul Language: The merchant’s claim of 'abusive language' is entirely fabricated to deflect from their own conduct. At no stage in our correspondence was any foul language used, nor were any threats made. Insisting on one's legal rights after being sold a faulty product is not 'abuse.'

Admitted Legal Failure: In their reply, the merchant admits they directed me to the manufacturer. Under UK law, the retailer is responsible for faulty goods, not the manufacturer. This is a basic failure of professional duty.

The 'Fraud' Invention: The merchant notably avoids addressing the fact that they accused a customer of 'fraud' and provided a 'police reference' simply for requesting a return on a £60 item. It is an absurd and malicious escalation of a simple civil matter.

The Outcome: If the merchant’s version of events were accurate, they would have won the dispute. Instead, PayPal reviewed the technical evidence and the manufacturer’s instructions, found in my favour, and mandated a full refund.

UPDATE 2

The merchant has now publicly admitted this is a 'simple stick-on product.' This directly contradicts their original reason for denying my refund, where they claimed the part required 'professional shop installation.' You cannot have it both ways. They manufactured a technical requirement to obstruct a return, then called it 'simple' to belittle the customer once they lost the case.

I have no interest in further correspondence with this business. Riders: let this owner's response be a warning of how they treat customers who receive defective stock.

We’re sorry to hear that you feel dissatisfied with your experience, and we take all feedback seriously. However, we would like to clarify a few important points for accuracy.

The issue reported appeared to be related to fitment/application rather than a confirmed product defect. Stomp Grips are designed as a DIY product when installed correctly, but improper surface preparation or application can affect adhesion. Based on the information provided to us at the time, this did not indicate a manufacturing fault. For this reason, we advised that if you believed the item to be defective under warranty, the appropriate route would be to contact the manufacturer directly for assessment, in line with their stated process.

Regarding the PayPal claim, this was not decided in the manner described. The case outcome did not support the version of events presented in your review.

We also take the safety and wellbeing of our staff seriously. The communication we received included language that we considered abusive, and as a result, we took appropriate steps to report this, including raising concerns about the nature of the claim.

We always aim to provide knowledgeable, fair, and professional service, and we stand by the guidance we provided in this case. We remain committed to helping customers resolve genuine issues and encourage respectful communication so we can do so effectively.

Update - as can be seen in their update,' this is how it was acting with us, and if we can add an image, it could dispel all these baseless claims. The issue here is simply the customer was not able to attach a stick on product corrrectly a simple issue really

also it shows how abusive they are, but updates not once but twice

Hi there,

We’re sorry to hear you feel this way about your experience.

Your order was placed via our eBay store, and as such, it falls under eBay’s returns and resolution process. This is why you were advised to open a case, as it ensures both buyer and seller are protected and the issue is handled correctly through the platform.

We do not refuse to resolve issues, and where an error occurs, we follow the appropriate process to either replace or refund once the item is returned in line with eBay’s policies. This includes return procedures, which are standard for marketplace orders.

We do not accept that we refused to help — rather, we directed you to the correct channel to ensure the matter could be resolved properly and securely.

If the case is still open, we will continue to work with you through eBay to bring this to a resolution as quickly as possible.

APPALLING EXPERIENCE

APPALLING EXPERIENCE.
Ordered an exhaust servo eliminator from their ebay shop for £46. The price was quickly hiked post-purchase to £58. 8 days after my purchase, the eliminator still hadn't arrived, so I very politely informed DRBikes of this & offered to give it another week. Without any consultation they decided to refund me, claiming that the item had been returned to them, but offering no proof or details about this. A refund was totally against my wishes and was never requested at any point. They refused to sell me a replacement item for the same price I had paid only a week earlier. Either the item wasn't in stock, or they wanted to sell it for more money. When I left them negative feedback on ebay, they responded by calling me ignorant for not supposedly not being in for a completely untracked delivery! They also lied about me requesting a refund, which was totally untrue. What they didn't know is that I have a video doorbell. I was never left any cards by Royal Mail, because the item never arrived at my house. Utterly staggering.

Hi,

We’re sorry to hear you were frustrated with your experience.

The item you purchased was refunded in line with eBay’s policies when it was reported as undelivered. All refunds are processed carefully to ensure customers are not out of pocket for items that fail to reach them. We do not alter pricing on previous purchases; any changes on the listing reflect current stock pricing, not your original order.

We always aim to provide accurate communication and do not misrepresent any customer requests. Delivery issues are handled based on the information from the courier, and we rely on tracked services where provided.

If you would like to discuss this further, we encourage you to contact us directly so we can review the order and delivery history in detail.

We’re very sorry to hear about your experience and apologise for the frustration caused by the delay and lack of updates on your order.

We understand how upsetting it is to wait several weeks without clear information and regret that our communication fell short of the standard you should expect. While we rely on supplier updates for stock availability, we accept that we could have done more to keep you informed throughout the process.

Your feedback has been shared internally, and we are reviewing our procedures to ensure better transparency, communication, and service for all customers. We appreciate you taking the time to leave your comments and are sincerely sorry your experience with us was so disappointing.

Well... it was an experience.

Paying for next-day delivery from DR Bikes appears to mean paying extra to learn patience. “In stock” seems to be a decorative phrase, and customer service responses feel less like updates and more like improvisation. If PayPal refunds were a loyalty scheme, it would be the most reliable part of the transaction.

Received Wrong Parts and Blamed Me

Avoid this company – deliberately misleading and unethical!

I ordered parts to use with OEM components, but what I received were slimmer-than-standard and completely unusable. The company knew this but failed to inform me. When I questioned compatibility, they dismissed me and blamed me. After returning the items, they refused a full refund and withheld 20% as a “restocking fee”, even though the fault was entirely theirs.

This company misleads customers, refuses responsibility, and ignores basic consumer rights. Do not trust them under any circumstances.

Great communication on BO parts

Always had great service from DR bikes with quick shipping. Even available on the phone to ensure parts are correct. Recently ordered some brake pads that went on back order, I was emailed by DR Bikes to advise. Their email hit my Spam as “Sales”@drbikes so please look out for this in your email. I missed it first time but DR bikes followed up with a chaser email as I hadn’t replied. Back order parts does occur from time to time, that’s fine I get it, all you can ask is good communication which is what I received. Top supplier and will continue to purchase with DR bikes in future.

Good experience with DR Bikes.
Initially gave them a call to check the figment for my bike and during the call I was quickly sent the installation instructions to look at for my peace of mind.
Ordered the exhaust online and it arrived as indicated at the best price I had found. Will definitely use them again.

It was a nightmare to return a defective item. Though Drbikes has a relationship with the supplier, they FORCED ME to provide proof that the item was faulty. It was emails, dismantling the bike for photos, and phone calls with the supplier until I finally achieved it. They don't respect consumer protection laws nor their trade contract as listed on their web. Beware!

Deceitful around delivery time

Keep in mind that their shipping time is not from the moment of purchase, it's from the moment they ship the item. So, theoretically your order can be "processed" indefinitely but once it's shipped then, yeah, 1-2 days.
When I buy something and it says "delivery 1-2 days", I'd expect to receive the item within 2 working days. If you can't deliver on your promise, then don't promise.

PS. Also, they use FedEx to deliver parcels. FedEx will give you a time slot on the day when the parcel is to be delivered, then will not deliver the parcel between the stated hours. Their tracking page will not work. There will not be a text sent with an update. Good luck.

STAY WELL CLEAR worst company I’ve ever dealt with.

After ordering with this company they dispatched the incorrect parts, and after contacting them regarding the problem they have basically ignored me. Ordered chain and sprocket kit and was supplied 525 sprockets and a 520 chain. Sent them photos of the incorrect kit but there not interested or willing to fix the problems. I found them to be rude and disrespectful from the first contact. Still haven’t heard back from them regarding the issue.
So I’ve given up but if you’re thinking of using DR bikes then DONT. Absolutely disgusting.

Good Morning Dale

so from looking into this

you ordered a part we do not stock on 16/09/2024 @ 6:10 pm

we emailed you the following morning on the 17th when reopened to let you know we would need to order in for you and be 2-3 days as there was no UK stock to the email on your account, to which we never got a reply

you then contacted us yesterday asking where your item was, so we explained the above and said would send it once it was in or could refund you, you opted for the refund to which we obliged

we are sorry you missed our email and hope you have a good day
