3 weeks on the 2 companies are blaming each other and still no refund!! After speaking to the Oxford branch they are saying they have had no correspondence from carjet. We have a trail of emails from carjet saying they have.
I believe they are acting together to scam money. This is unacceptable and will no be going through my bank for fraud

I ordered a car weeks in advance. When I arrived to pick it up the clerk was very friendly and helpful and led me to my car - which was not the car from the category I ordered, but a much smaller car. It then turned out they didn't have the car I ordered that day at all and they didn't bother letting me know, just tried to pawn off the smaller car on me with the hope I wont notice. I barely got an apology out of them. Ended up cancelling the order and going to get a bigger car for a better price from a different agency.
Very disappointed with the service as in the past I had better experiences with Drivalia.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with Drivalia has been extremely disappointing.
I rented a car through Booking.com, and since the 2nd of March I have been trying—unsuccessfully—to obtain a refund that I am owed. Despite multiple attempts to resolve this matter, I have been passed back and forth between Drivalia and Booking.com, with neither party taking responsibility or providing a clear resolution.
Communication has been slow, inconsistent, and ultimately unhelpful. Each interaction feels like starting from scratch, with no accountability or urgency shown. It is frankly exhausting to have to chase what should be a straightforward refund for this long.
While I understand that issues can arise, the complete lack of effective customer service and resolution is unacceptable. I would strongly advise others to think carefully before booking, as resolving any problems afterward may prove to be far more difficult than expected.
I hope this review encourages the company to take customer concerns more seriously and improve how they handle refund requests.

I recently rented a car from Drivalia and was quite disappointed. When I returned the car, I left it with significantly more fuel than when I picked it up. I started with about 575 miles of range and returned it with 720. When I asked about being refunded for that extra fuel, they simply denied it. If Drivalia doesn’t offer a policy to handle over-refueling, they should at least ensure cars are provided with a full tank at pickup. That way, customers don’t end up paying for more fuel than they actually used. Overall, not a fair experience.

Overall, the rental went fine, but small details really let the experience down. We booked 8am–10p, yet in the morning they called saying their system couldn’t access our booking and asked us to come after 10 Luckily, the receptionist was lovely and did her best to help, so we managed - no complaints there, she’s been amazing.
The real issue is after-service. I never received my rental contract (the email had no attachment), I got no return confirmation, and eight days later my deposit is still pending. Emails were ignored, and when I called, I was told the deposit was released - but nothing changed even after 7 days calling. For me, the poor communication and lack of follow-up ruined what could have been a smooth experience
Also, we rented an electrical car and they gave us a cable with a 3 port socket and no explanation, as if we will go home charge the car in our living room lol wasted 1hr to figure out what to do and where else to go charge the car.
EDIT: someone is probably copy/pasting review answers for “bad” and “good” review lol. But don’t get tricked they tell you to email them to investigate the matter but they are just ghosting. Someone’s probably paid 1hr every morning to copy/paste lmao

This was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had with a car rental company. After asking me for all my documents and making me wait a long time, they told me the total cost would be £299. I confirmed everything with them and paid the amount with my card.
Only after I had paid, they suddenly said I now needed to pay over £700 more! They never mentioned this before, and it was simply too much for me. I asked for my money back immediately since I was not informed about the full cost beforehand.
Now I’m left without a car, without my money, standing in the rain with no way to even get a taxi. I asked them to speed up the refund process and they just didn’t care. They were rude, dismissive, and literally hung up on me. I have never encountered such unprofessional and disrespectful customer service.
This is unacceptable and feels like a scam. I could’ve rented a car elsewhere but they took my money and left me with nothing. Shame on you, Drivalia.

Took car back to Drivilia Oxford location closed down then got second location 27/5/25 but alas no one there. Had to leave car in a car park(didn’t know if it was the right one). Mission to find out if they had the car.(Booking.Com Finally got response on 4/6/25 car ok and deposit £1500 A$3000 has been released). Now 14/6/25 no deposit returned. This company is to hard to deal with. Never again.
Standard reply from the company went to manage my booking as instructed and reply as expected can’t seem to find this booking.
Got onto Booking.Com and now informed that deposit return takes 28 business days. Not a bad little rort have MY £1500 for over two months including hire of vehicle time.
My booking no is 716117427 just give me my holding deposit it’s been 3weeks not that hard.

From Australia on holiday Booked this car months in advance. Turned up car is not ready assistant had to call the office to add the car. Photocopied everything we had. Went to pay were told because we had a visa debit card instead of a credit card it would cost us 25 pound a day extra and we would have to wait while a credit check was done. Caught a taxi to another hire car company were sorted in 10 minutes
