Avoid renting from this place. I frequently travel across multiple states and visit New York once a month, and this is undoubtedly the worst rental agency I’ve ever encountered. They fail to maintain the rental car properly, and upon returning, you’ll be subjected to additional charges and fees. There’s a reason why there 2 stars on Better Business Bureau
Be Aware
First, I did not receive the vehicle with a full gas tank, yet I was expected to return the vehicle with a full gas tank, or else be charged for this. When I brought this to the company rep's attention upon return of the vehicle, they just brushed me off and moved on. Second, they took a $200 deposit on my card, which is common practice; however, the $200 was not returned until 21 business days (basically one full month) after the car was returned. I never experienced this at any other car rental company. Finally, note that this rental company at JFK is off site and not where the other car rental companies are at JFK. This added an additional 45 minutes to my trip to get the vehicle and an additional 30 minutes upon return of my vehicle.

Shady financial practices, falsified contracts, and zero customer service
My experience with Drivo JFK was a complete disaster.
First, they refused to accept the "Full Coverage" insurance I bought through EconomyBookings due to their own corporate dispute, forcing me to buy their much more expensive on-site policy.
Second, they directly CHARGED a $200 security deposit to my credit card instead of placing a standard pre-authorization hold. They only issued a refund after I sent a furious complaint email over a week after returning the car.
Third, they lied on the rental contract, marking the fuel level as "Full" when it was short by a notch. Since I returned it full, I paid out of pocket for their missing fuel. When confronted, their Team Leader "Steve" sent an unapologetic reply claiming they don't guarantee a full tank—despite it being printed on their own contract.
Shady billing, fraudulent documentation, and arrogant customer service. Avoid this company at all costs.

Today is June 15, 2026. Do not rent a car from here. I ordered the rental on hotwire paid about 500 dollars. I get there. They tell me they have to do a credit check (new to me) tells me they cannot give me the car and I need to call hotwire for reimbursement. I was extremely furious.

Car rental is not in the airport and requires a shuttle from the shuttle - i.e. there is a first shuttle (the air train) from the terminal to MOST of the car rental company lots, and you must then take a SECOND shuttle to Ace's/Drivo's lot. Took 45 minutes instead of just 10 and messed up my day.
Also requested copies of my insurance declaration page, never been asked that before from a US car rental location and intended to make you pay more for their insurance. SCAM.

Extras, Indifference, Pressure and Lack of Proper Maint.
Had to first wait for a shuttle to take us to an off-site location. At the counter, I/We were pressured to buy additional insurance and options the total of which would have more than doubled the cost of the prepaid amount
Got a car with damage and poor repair (no walk around offered).
Floor mat was so damaged that it caused a loss of control of the vehicle. I've opened a ticket with Drivo/ACE's customer support and the NJ BBB (of which they are not registered).
The only PRO was the shuttle bus driver who, upon seeing the trouble my wife was having getting into the shuttle, repositioned the shuttle closer to the curb so my wife could get in.

Prices great! Car had 95 miles so brand new. Bring your car insurance paperwork to prove you are covered (that’s why not a 5 star). Boukare was my driver back to airport. Pleasant and helpful.

Absolutely and unequivocally unacceptable! I was charged for coverage that I declined after verifying my coverage with Statefarm, my insurance carrier. This action is absolutely unacceptable, and there should be no reason for such an error to have occurred. I am under the impression that this is common practice for DRIVO Rent-A-Car, and this experience has left a horrible first impression!

UNSCRUPULOUS BUSINESS PRACTICES & CHARGES
I WAS CHARGED A CLEANING FEE THAT I FEEL WAS UNFAIRLY IMPOSED. UPON PICKING UP THE CAR, THEY COULD NOT FIND IT AND HAD ME SIT IN A TRAILER WHILE THEY LOOKED FOR IT. EVENTUALLY A GUY CAME IN, TOLD ME WHICH CAR WAS MINE AND WHEN I ASKED TO DO THE PRE-INSPECTION, WAS TOLD HE HAD ALREADY DONE IT AND I WAS GOOD TO GO. I HAD THE 'DAMAGE WAIVER' INCLUDED SO I DID NOT WORRY. UPON THE RETURN OF THE CAR, I BROUGHT IT TO THE LOT I WAS TOLD 3 HRS BEFORE IT WAS DUE AND WAS TOLD AFTER HANDING THE KEYS THAT THEY WOULD CHECK THE CAR LATER AND SAID I CAN LEAVE. SOME TIME AFTER I NOTICED I WAS BEING CHARGED A CLEANING FEE BY THEM AND ERUPTED BECAUSE BEING THE ONLY PERSON IN THE CAR THE WHOLE TIME, I ASSUMED THEY WERE CHARGING ME FOR WHATEVER DIRT MIGHT HAVE BEEN WHERE YOUR FEET ARE WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THEM TO COMPLAIN GETTING NOWHERE, AT WHICH TIME I DISPUTED THE CHARGE WITH MY CREDIT CARD. I would strongly caution anyone considering Drivo Car Rental.
I had a confirmed and prepaid reservation secured with my Business Platinum American Express card. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle, I was denied the rental because the representative claimed they were unable to run my credit report.
I maintain a security freeze on my credit for identity protection. When informed this was the issue, I immediately lifted the freeze to allow the inquiry. Despite taking immediate action to resolve the matter, I was still denied the rental.
This was a prepaid reservation secured with a major business credit card. Denying a paid customer at the counter after they attempt to comply and resolve the issue demonstrates poor policy transparency and unacceptable customer service.
If Drivo requires a successful credit inquiry even for prepaid rentals secured with major credit cards, that requirement should be clearly disclosed before payment is accepted. Leaving customers stranded at the counter is not an acceptable business practice.
Due to this experience and the disruption it caused to my travel plans, I will not be using Drivo again. I recommend others carefully review their policies before booking.

This worst driving company they are some thief, wen I drove out the lot the tire pressure light was on I think that wasn't going to be my problem these people take my 200 deposit I won't recommend I sorry I listen to my wife and rent from them never again.

Everything about this place is HORRIBLE !!! We got into JFK first they are off the airport which is typical anywhere. BUT waiting 20-25 min in the freezing cold weather is not customer service. We get on the shuttle and arrive and I give them my reservation confirmation number and they say they have to run a credit check. They go on to say my credit was denied. I have great credit. They cancel my reservation. Not even blinking or trying to help out. So my husband proceeds to do it under his name and same. They proceed to say they can go ahead and do a new reservation (at this point where are going to go ) they up the amount that we were originally supposed to have and charged an upgrade fee which just notice today after we get the bill. NO PAPERWORK ONCE WE LEFT THE RENTAL PLACE. NEVER AGAIN !!!! The guy at the counter did not even try to help out at all. Just basically looked away. Then dropping it off had to wait for someone to come to the gate for at least 15 min
The only good thing I can say was the car was brand new. But of course we paid for that with our upgrade we didn’t know about.
