Evaluating 105 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many people reported issues with the app and website, citing problems with slow loading times, freezing, and general unresponsiveness. False Claim To Privacy

This browser falsely claims to be private but is not. It is less private and liberal than even Google is, denying you your lawful rights to settings options just to prevent you your human rights to privacy.
Please protect your children from it.
Upsettingly, since I wrote this review, Duckduckgo have been unlawfully denying me a proper, uncorrupted service.

I was so high on DDG

I was so high on DDG, but since using it exclusively and paying for upgraded features, I find that it lacks some functionality critical to me (no option to print headers and footers, cumbersome bookmarking, etc.). Also, the @duck.com email address that removes trackers from email is not accepted by too many others, rendering it useless to me, and with the DDG VPN that I pay for, I am denied access to too many sites. DDG, would you consider a refund?

Dead Bing means dead DDG

I was a fan of Duck Duck Go when I began using it in 2010, and I stuck with it for 11 years, 11 months as my default. We even changed to DDG for our internal site searches on one of our websites.

In 2022, those searches began coming up blank. Doing site: searches directly on DDG would net between 10 and 55 results, when they used to produce thousands. Nothing on our end had changed.

As DDG had dropped Yandex as a partner, it was totally reliant on Bing, and as Bing had tanked during 2022, DDG followed suit.

It wasn’t just us. I fed in site:techdirt.com, a well respected tech blog, and there were no results for that in January 2023.

For our results, some 40 per cent of them were repeated from page to page.

This bug eventually was remedied (at least for our site and for Techdirt) by Bing, and therefore by DDG, but the site is a pale reflection of what it used to be. Once that trust was gone, I wasn’t going to go back to it for site searches or as my default.

I remember a CEO who was active and outspoken, and willing to help users. In 2022, when I raised the above with him, he was silent. Kind of what happens with Big Tech.

I can’t even get DDG to update a bang that they created for us as we’re no longer reliant on them—we switched to Mojeek, which has a site: search that works (and has more of our pages than Bing does). They (including their CEO) respond to user enquiries, too.

It was a good run.

No differences between Google and DuckDuckGo

I have done a search using DuckDuckGo looking for information on a trip on Washington DC, a couple of minutes later my wife ( she has never searched for this topic ) has received several instagram message related to the Washington trip.
How is it possible ? Now I am thinking that there is no difference between searching on Google or DuckDuckGo

Worse than useless spell checker

This went very well to begin with, Until I tried anything that caught my typos. DDG spots them very well. Just as well as everyone else. with a red line underneath,
BUT with everyone else you right click, and get a list of words that the spell checker thinks might be the one.
DDG on a right click only offers to do a search for your mistyped word.
Try searching for a DDG extension for spelling. -- There isn't one.
That alone makes the product a non-starter for me.
Such a shame, and such an easy thing to get right

I might be writing an e-mail or perusing items on a well-known site when suddenly I lose the page and a returned to the Duckduckgo start page. This is more than annoying.

Affected the operation of my PC so DuckDuckGo had to GoGoGo.

Saw this advertised, downloaded it okay and yes you can find what you need as with Chrome. But weird stuff was going on in other areas of my PC. It was not working properly and label printing was the last straw. Instead of printing four 6" x 4" labels per A4 it allowed only one label in the centre of the paper. I tried all ways to correct this, the only solution was to ditch DDG and re-install Chrome. All is back to normal now so DDG is not for me.

Temu head of every search…

Temu head of every search,no matter how inappropriate? How can this search engine be considered safe when you search Krakow and Auschwitz and Temu is the first thing that comes up?? It's obvious from that alone that Temu is a massive safety problem.

DON'T USE DUCKDUCKGO EMAIL PROTECT

I signed up for email protection I have lost money because the company (Smarty mobile) cant recognise this email??? so I cant activate the sim therefore have paid a months subscription and no phone and cant claim a refund until I activate the sim, I have tried changing the receiving email 3 times still cant receive any emails. What is even more worrying is the emails include personal data and I have no idea where they have gone or who has access to them. I am not only dumping the email thing but the whole DDG stuff is going I don't trust it now, and its lost me money so not happy.
