This browser locks you out from your own data.
Do NOT use on Windows or any device which doesn't have biometric login as it will actively prevent you from access to your own passwords.
I can't back up my own data because I can't turn this feature off.
Edge, Opera and Avast are now better browsers because of this.

I liked the idea of the privacy but the browser is very buggy and doesn't work well with a lot of sites. Particularly annoying is the disappearing cursor, which sometimes (but not always) reappears after closing and reopening the browser. Scrolling doesn't work properly on a lot of sites, the central part of the frame scrolls but the rest remains static.
Buttons embedded in emails sometimes work, sometimes don't. Too unreliable for me, I'm going back to Google.

I've been using Duck duck go for a few days. But when I tried to comment on a post online, with a picture, THERE WASN'T ANY CAMERA ICON AVAILABLE TO POST THE PIC.
I had it as a default browser, but after this experience, I put Google back to be the default one.
Something sooo simple and they can't do anything about it?
I already Uninstaller.
DDG SUCKS! GARBAGE, RUBBISH!

Security Issues with Duckduckgo

I was a long-time user of Duckduckgo, until yesterday when all of my browser bookmarks and passwords were wiped out. Contacted customer support via their Chat. A 'tech' was assigned and did a remote session, alleging that my laptop had been hacked and all of my data had been wiped out due to a virus which infected 70% of my machine. He wanted to install a software program to clean it. This seemed odd to me as I had run several professional malware and virus scans which turned up nothing. My PC was working fine. Only my Duckduckgo browser had been hacked, I suspect by duckduckgo itself. When I told the tech this, he ended the chat. I started a new chat to report my security issue but that chat was ended too. This is sketchy.

I have used this for 2 years now. I wish id done it earlier. on all…

I have used this for 2 years now on all my pcs and phones.
Safe secure untracked browsing,
It astounds me how much we are tracked elsewhere.
I never get pop ups or ads from anywhere.
It never asks me to subscribe although I may consider it for the VPN.
I never have any trouble opening websites on my pc, Very occasionally when browsing news on my phone it wont load an article but mostly its news sources I have never heard of.
I love the private email address' that It generates whenever asked for by most websites and that DDG forwards and filters responses to my actual email address. They crack me up sometimes. After 2 years, I now get hardly any spam because those that used to sell my email address and info cant anymore.
It took me a few months to wean myself off Google, Edge etc and get used to the way it presented searches.
I used it with Firefox to begin with then went direct to DDG.
I rarely use google or any other Browser.
Very very occasionally, I will go onto google and search, but through DDG; maybe 3-4 times a year.
Oh and Youtube.... I now use duck player by default and never ever see an advert and it seems to load so much quicker!
Overall it works perfectly for me.
I read the other reviews and seriously dont get why so many disliked Duckduckgo ...,

I’m surprised that it has 2.2 stars

I’m surprised that it has 2.2 stars. I’ve tried it for months and finally gave up. The privacy aspect might be the selling point for use, but it never actually works. It won’t load pages and constantly times out or kicks-up. This browser is garbage!

DuckDuckGo needs to evolve!

I like the fire button to clear my history quickly and seamlessly. I would give it a 4.9 if their password manager solved the following Concerns from the majority of users. They still have their head stuck in the sand for not integrating the product with a password program. I use mac devices and can not for the life of me figure out why they don’t use iCloud Passwords to integrate it with their browser safely.

The following words of wisdom are from AI:

Demand for Integration
Increased User Base:
As users become more security-conscious, having built-in compatibility with popular password managers is crucial for platforms like DuckDuckGo to attract more users.

Convenience:
Integrated password management would streamline the user experience, making it easier to manage passwords securely.

I write to them all the time to tell them to do the above or they will not servive! Listen to your users!!!

Duckduckgo Is Deceptive and Not Trustworthy

I had been using DuckDuckGo for almost a year and generally liked the platform. However, they repeatedly encouraged me to subscribe, and when I finally started the process, I encountered a major red flag: they claimed not to store user information, yet somehow displayed my credit card details—information I had never provided to them. Because of that, I immediately stopped the subscription process.

Shortly after, my desktop began experiencing virus issues. On top of that, my business—which I could normally pull up easily through their search—no longer appeared, even though it’s fully optimized for search engines.

The larger browsers may bombard users with ads and track activity, but in my opinion, DuckDuckGo feels more deceptive, which makes my experience more concerning.

Why hide the search text?

I am generally happy with Firefox/DuckDuckGo, but one "improvement" really annoys me. The home screen has a big search box on the screen, but if I type a search phrase it only appears in the tiny URL line of the screen. Please fix it, it used to appear in the big search box.
