No issue van rental
Straight forward, no issues van rental. Easy collection and pick up. would use again.
Booking not that straightforward and…
Booking not that straightforward and collection a bit disorganised
I have used this company many times
I have used this company many times. Provided you pre check in before you go to pick up your car, in general it is an easy process with the lockbox at Greenside Omni. I have never really had an issues with easirent, other than on occasion the cars are not cleaned 100%, but for the good price, I can live with that.
The whole pick up process was extremely…
The whole pick up process was extremely complicated and not properly explained. This resulted in is not being able to pick up the cars on day 1 of the rental period. We rented 2 cars which we expected to be 5 seats each but one of the cars was only 4 seats. We have 4 children so this caused a problem as my wife was unable to take all 4 children on her own as her car only sat 4 people.
Fine but inefficient
Fine but inefficient, I had to call customer services twice, once to get a link to fill out payment details and once to get the key, I don’t know why they don’t just email the payment link the day before the rental. The van was also hard to find in the car park but that’s not really their fault, that was the previous driver. It also stank of smoke in the van, again because of the previous driver. Another thing to watch out for is the antenna on top of the van smashes into the signs in the car park because it was a bit too tall for the place.
Booked online
Booked online, managed booking docs online, picked up keys using the remote collection. Spoke to Sang on the intercom who was very patient and helpful, and gave me clear information both for pick up and drop off.
You get what you pay for!
The collection process from a contactless pickup point was unnecessarily frustrating.
The car had barely 15 miles of fuel in it. The warning light said it required a service and technically the car would not pass an MOT as the horn didn’t work.
Not impressed.
DON’T BE FOOLED BY THIS DISGRACE
They had terrible customer services
WAITED 2 HOURS for my car and still nothing happened . Their online check in is a stupid idea and makes everything so difficult. In the end I had to cancel my car, there was another person renting a car and once they got the keys the man at easi rent had absolutely no clue where the car was and told them to walk around to find it.
Everyone else in the car park that I spoke to had nothing good to say about this place. Such a disgrace please don’t be fooled by them
Rude staff & Con
Absolute con these people are. We booked a car to pick up at 9pm, after making us wait in a seedy room for an hour they asked us for a £1,500 security deposit that must be paid on a credit card in the main drivers name. My wife was the main driver but doesn't need a credit card and so we didn't have this, I offered to use my credit card but was told no. We're told the only other option is to pay a £300 non returnable fee or we wouldn't be able to have the car. I wasn't happy about this and found a similar car at a similar price with enterprise so asked for a refund and we wouldn't take the car. Was told I couldn't have a refund, left with no option but to pay £300. The man at the counter was incredibly rude and showed no understanding or empathy throughout. Morale of the story is read the pesky small print (this was buried on page 12) as there is absolutely no mention of it elsewhere - despite paying for excess protection through the booking provider and their assurance that we would not need to pay anything on arrival. Absolute shamsters avoid and pay a little more for a reputable company
Awful, lots of hided cost
At late night arrival we erre pushed to accept last car, with full of alarms, day after we had to pay the repair in a garage...as car was not able to start the engine due tó the several alarms.staff was terrible discrimonating.
Awful and dangerous to drive
We hired a car through a broker for 1 day from the Edinburgh City location which is a good central location.
The registration process is very longwinded and not customer friendly. It took several attempts even the best part of 30 mins at the time of collection to complete certain parts.
Getting through for help from customer service took several attempts but eventually after 40 mins we were able to get the key from the key box in the car park and then told to go and look for the car using the remote to distinguish which car it was. The cars are left in a car park so could be in any bay!
When we go the car it was awful. 2018 car with 80000+ miles on the clock and a tire pressure warning on when we started the car. It also had a chip in the windscreen in the drivers eye line which I think is an MOT failure. The windscreen wipers, front and rear, were so poor that I feel they too would fail the MOT. It was also dirty
There is a 100 mile daily limit which we exceeded on our day trip to St Andrew’s. I would never use them again nor recommend them.
Absolutely shocking company
Absolutely shocking company! Intercom system at the omni centre is terrible! The customer service was somewhat embarrassing and I wound not hire from this company again! I’d rather hire something from the circus
Shocking Experience and a potential Money trap.
I booked the car rental 4 months in advance. The plane flight times changed so I called Easirent to advise them, "no issue, we will put a note on your file". The plane was delayed again but there was no signal in the airport. The baggage handlers took another 1 hour to unload my bags. I got to Easirents office about 3 hours later than I told them I would and 5 hours later than the original booking. I was advise that my car had been reallocated as I was 5 hours late. They claimed there was no "evidence" of my phone call. This was 7pm, no cars at the original booking price, I could have another car for an additional £1000! Assistant knew nothing, couldn't help, wouldn't help. Come back tomorrow and speak to my manager. "call him now", sorry cant/wont do it!
This to me is an utter nonsense.
I then looked at their damage "menu". Be VERY CAREFULL, this is a potential money trap. £100 for a light scratch, £ 200 for a small dent, £200 for a small scratch that breaks the paint surface, £500 for a puncture, it goes on. Most Budget / Avis/ Europe type companies allow for small scratches etc but not this company, you could be £1000's out of pocket so examine your car very carefully, photograph everything and get a signed document stating they accept the pre existing "damage".
Arrived at Edinburgh city and no one…
Arrived at Edinburgh city and no one there at the reception, finally got through on the phone and they Wouldn’t accept a valid in date licence as proof of address! Then couldn’t provide a baby seat as requested and questioned why we never had our own (is that their business when we booked one?!), said car wasn’t where we booked collection from and would need to be driven to us from another site. Cancelled booking and took the risk that flight wasn’t cancelled by storm Arwen, would not touch with a 10ft barge pole.

Terrible, devious and untrustworthy
Terrible, devious and untrustworthy. Don't be sucked in by the low prices.
On collecting my rental car, there was only one person serving in what was quite a scraggy, off the beaten track(dirt road) pick-up point.
It seemed to take forever, to go through the paperwork and I had to sign the agreement on a tiny small black and white screen built into the desk, which meant scrolling through loads of small text. It was virtually impossible to read this properly, but I had no choice.
The car hire was supposed to be full to full(re. fuel) but I was told it would have to be returned to the same level as when collected. Those who have done this will know it's virtually impossible to gauge, but again I had no choice.
I was served by a guy who was determined to try and upsell me additional insurance, by scarring me into what it could cost me if the car was damaged in any way at all. He harped on and on about this, even though I didn't want it. and I turned this down as it was very expensive.
I finally got to drive away after about an hour, with my family tirelessly waiting, wondering what was taking so long.
The car was good, but I was certain the company would try and charge me for damage on return, so I was super careful with it at all times, while it was hired.
Sure enough, on returning the vehicle, the same attendant scrutinized every square inch of the car and initially was saying he would have to charge me to valet the car as it was dirty inside. This was complete nonsense and the car was actually pretty clean. He then changed his tune and found a tiny pinprick of a stone chip on one of the doors which he fussed about instead. I said this was so small it may have even been missed prior to me taking the car out and in either case, the damage was so slight that it must fall into fair wear and tear, but he insisted it would have to be paid for despite me arguing my case.
As we were running out of time, we had no choice but to try and resolve this later and he refused to drop us back at the airport unless I signed to accept the damage was my fault.
Since the road leading up to the rental point was in such a bad state and covered with loose stones, it was most likely the damage was caused there anyway, and unavoidable if I was to take the car back.
As we were leaving, the customer behind us was having a similar argument with the same assistant and was also saying that the brakes on his car were not working properly.
On the transfer bus back to the airport, the driver told us that customers are always fuming because of how they are treated and he often hears many complaints.
On returning back home, I tried numerous times to call the company and email them. Each time I was fobbed off with a different excuse, had no reply to my emails and was advised that someone would get back to me, which they never did. At one point, a manager I spoke to at a different branch suggested I claim from my credit card company instead. Totally staggering really, that I would be advised like this by the same company.
It was only after referring the complaint after several attempts, to a higher level, and taking the complaint up with BVRLA, that after about 3 months, I finally received a response saying I should never have been charged as the damage was so slight, and received a very insincere apology.
In my opinion, this company clearly has a policy of trying it with customers, in the hope that they will either take up their extortionate insurance policy or pay for repairs afterward and not be bothered to kick up a fuss.
Their attitude from start to finish was totally appalling, unfriendly, inconsiderate and devious.
Whatever you do, pay the extra and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Don't be lured in by the low prices here as they will get that back off you another way, so it won't be worth it, or take up your own excess cover insurance beforehand if you can find an insurance company that will cover them, but whatever you do, stay well clear.

In response to easirent reply, since I can’t reply directly to them.
I would say, I have already tried your normal contact process as suggested and you completely ignored me for 2 months, so no thank you, I will not waste any more time with you and strongly suggest other don’t bother booking with you too.

Just awful
Bought full insurance, forced to add another insurance upon pick up: the guys said "they tell you it's covering everything but it's not".
Online price was about 140€ ended up paying more than 300€.
Choose other companies, don't get scammed like us!
Easirent in Edinburgh are horrendous
Emails didn't come through with links for payment despite several phone calls. They inexplicably changed my name on the reservation to a woman's name, then accused me of doing it. Prior to pick up they sent me to an empty car park on the wrong side of Edinburgh, then admitted outdated information was in my confirmation email. They also denied it was on the other side of Edinburgh, but it is as I needed
a taxi to get there. Had to wait for someone when I reached the correct car park to get the keys, along with another confused customer. The car they gave me was dirty.
Easirent 'resolved' my complaint after 163 days and around 20 phone calls, after repeatedly ignoring me. No gesture of goodwill offered or any kind of compensation, beyond a refund for the taxi I was forced to take on the day. So around 6 months to get a total of about £6. They even shut down the option of me replying via their online portal, to stop any further conversation. When I opened up a new conversation with them online, they rudely shut me down again saying simply "this case will be closed". Appalling company. Avoid at all cost.

Would not accept wife’s credit card
Would not accept wife’s credit card, had to be the driver, then charged the cost of the hire for extra insurance they insisted on. Unscrupulous behaviour, do not use.

Automated system experience was a nightmare!
The experience with the automated system in Edinburgh City Centre was not at all good. I had tried to complete the online check in but the easirent website apparently, despite telling me I had made successful submissions, does not operate well. When I got there and spoke to the assistant via the call button, I was advised that I had to complete some more procedures. I am not sure if the need to supply details of my credit card once I arrived there would have been necessary anyway even if the online check in had worked properly but I did notice when I returned the car that someone was having the same problems I experienced. The problem with the credit card insurance hold requirement is that. This location is in an underground car park where mobile phone signal is not good. It was dark. The entrance is located in a dark alley/street. I had to go outside into this dark alley and attempt this procedure so felt very vulnerable standing there with a suitcase, handbag, holding a phone in one hand and a credit card in the other. The procedure of contacting my bank, receiving an automated phone call from them, and then having to receive approval from them was fraught with difficulties and it actually required me to do this 7 times before I got a positive response. Meanwhile my phone had gone from 60% charge to 5% charge. I would have been stuck in the centre of Edinburgh had it not worked properly the last time. I am a female, old age pensioner in an unfamiliar city and I had now been there for one and a half hours trying to sort this out. This was an awful experience for me. I hope that Easirent improves their website so that the required information can be submitted without the need to do this in the circumstances I describe. I have used easirent many times before but this is my first experience with the automated system and I expect it will be my last. I will also reconsider the use of easirent ever again.
