By far the worst auction experience, I would give 0 star if possible. I wish I read all those negative reviews before I bid with them. The lot I bought is flawed and were not described in the descript... See more
Banned because i asked to be cancelled…
Banned because i asked to be cancelled from their list after they took 200 pounds from my card 2 days before auction start without asking.(and after i completed 4 auctions and bought NOT small amounts) And check every single items..gold not being gold and also a musical birds cage listed as early 900' s turned to be late 70s. But...hey..money are yours...spend them as you like...
Last Item was Damaged no reply on email
I’ve Brought a fair few items from Eastbourne Auctions my last purchase was a 90s poster not loads of money but a great collectable when I took it home I took it out the tube to find it had been ripped this wasn’t ripped when I viewed before auction on the website
I complained several times by email about this and received no reply to any emails
Sadly you have lost my business now
I’ve been using Eastbourne Auctions for…
I’ve been using Eastbourne Auctions for a few years now and I’m very happy to recommend them. Their sales contain incredibly diverse lots, good descriptions but, as with any auctioneer, when you’re buying & viewing on line, ask questions first! They’re v good at answering. I’m always impressed by their willingness to pack and post some fair-sized and unusual, often fragile lots. I buy odd items of jewellery, small bronzes & some cold-painted bronzes but my favourite lots are the many unusual lots as presents for friends & family. And there are always unusual lots in every auction. They’re polite, friendly, helpful & dispatch goods remarkably quickly. One of my favourite UK auctioneers. Very happy to recommend.
good transaction
Have seen the negative reviews but received nothing but good service. Not usual for me to bid online for an item except on the 'worldwide site', but then it is buyer beware. My latest foray with Eastbourne Auctions went successfully. The item I bought was in better condition than their photos would have suggested and I feel I have got a bargain. Condition matches or exceeds similar items that are available online at a much greater price. Probably not something that I had expected, but they were generally very easy to deal with.

Arranged for a heavy item to be collected. They didn’t turn up and told me the next day to bring it in myself. Collecting was going to be £40 +VAT for 7 miles. I didn’t realise at the time there would also be an admin fee, storage fee, 20% handling fee. The antiques dealer who bought it also said, like the other reviewer, he had bought something catalogued as solid silver only to find it was silver plated and the auctioneer said it’s his own fault. I found them very unprofessional.
Arrogant, unhelpful, dishonest
I have been a regular buyer here over the last few years. I always view before buying. During the Covid 19 crisis it has been much more difficult to view- by appointment only- and I haven't particularly wanted to travel to Eastbourne from Brighton. So I have relied on their online descriptions. Imagine my extreme disappointment and disgust at their attitude when one of the items I purchased for £62 with commission-described as a Holmegaard vase online- turns out to be more Homesense than Holmegaard and probably worth £15-£20 max. When I asked politely for a reference to the attribution Ii was told there was none but that the person who catalogued it thought it was Holmegaard. I am not an honest bidder apparently because I didnt ask how it had been attributed to Holmegaard before Ii purchased it and according to their Terms & Conditions, I should not rely on their description for accuracy! How on earth is anyone supposed to have any faith in this auction house on this basis, particularly if bidding from overseas/unable to view in person. I am very upset by their lack of service, arrogant attitude and clearly a belief that the customer is never right! Avoid them like the plague. Plenty of other reputable auctioneers in the area.
