Firstly, the staff are very helpful. In this instance, over many weeks I've seen only 5 carriages at peak times. Why is EMR still running this service and why has the franchise not been given to some... See more

inflexible and unpredictable
Yes, the Babet storm (Oct 20) was nasty but to cancel all the trains on a non-affected trajectory (Corby-London) is beyond imagination. As I had to catch an international train to get off the island, I ended up taking a taxi costing me 180 pounds.
Moreover, and think this applies to all UK train companies, it should be a standard arrangement for domestic routes to have flexibility on the time you pick a train (esp with prebooking). It simply does not make sense to work with fixed timeslots (except for rush hour).

Funking useless as per usual..can't drive a train a straight line..using any excuse u can to delay and cancel trains.
Helped me get the next train
I was going to uni for the first time with a large amount of luggage. It was my first time going to university. I had to make it in time to drop off my luggage at my accommodation and make it in time for a new job that would support me through uni. I couldn’t afford to miss this train. Through no one’s fault but my own I missed the train. An kind employees at the station allowed me to get the next train for free. This was a real life saver.
Great EMR ticket seller in St. Pancras
I was at St Pancras at around 1pm 19/9/23 and there was a young lad selling tickets with a portable machine outside the ticket office. I did not get his name, but his was by far the most helpful, informed ticket sales person for any transport in the UK that I have encounter. Well done to him.
Just terrible.
Just terrible.. I havent had one journey without some sort of complication.
Absolutely awful
Absolutely awful. Always late, currently sat on train not moving, already 15 mins late, on 30 minute journey. Apparently waiting for people to transfer, why??? If we were on time they'd have missed it. The staff are unhelpful, the number stood on the platform doing nothing is unbelievable, and we are waiting crew....what a joke.
To add to this, claim under the compensation scheme for a refund, and they offer a tiny fraction of the ticket price....a slap in the face when they have also now cost me extra childcare and lost me money on missed activities.
78% OF TRAVELERS RATE THIS A ONE STAR RAILWAY!.
WoW! 78% of reviewers give a one star rating.
That says it all don’t it. Does the management of East Midland Trains care. Well given they don’t respond to any of the reviews the answer unfortunately is a resounding NO!
So as I was making a three hour twenty minute journey (one change) and at 85 with dodgy hips I needed the reassurance that I could make the journey seated. I gave EMT plenty of notice when I tried to reserve a seat but they were no seat reservations on any part of this journey. To clarify they will be seats available, but as this train is travelling from a very popular seaside destination the company don’t allow people to reserve seats. So given my balance is not good I won’t bother getting involved in the initial holidaymaker rush. In consequence I will probably have to stand.
EMT management hang your heads in shame. Oh sorry, I forgot they don’t give a monkeys do they.
Everything about it is awful
Everything about it is awful. Staff rude, trains dirty, always delayed or cancelled, overly priced, over crowded. 10/10 worst travel experiences.
The train manager, guard & assistance
The train manager, guard and Assistant support were really kind and helpful, and took all the stress out of a long and potentially difficult journey. Five stars well deserved. Thank you so much.
So glad i dont have to travel on emr
So glad i dont have to travel on emr. Trains were so dirty abd the seats torn/worn. Mine felt like if they had springs they went years ago.The seat reservation only came on once most were onboard but that was better than not at all on return journey. Wi-fi not work either. Thought best not charge anything up. If that was working proberbly not wired correctly. Give them some positives staff were friendly ish. No ticket check from london only from nottingham. Got cheap tickets which meant value for money. We were just glad the trains ran and were only a few minutes late.

Fantastic service except for the lady i met today by the barriers asking for the tickets making us almost miss our London train.
Told her I got the tickets on the phone. Insisted I open the tickets up and ended up making us almost miss the train.
Not good at all.
Welcome to 2003!
It’s 2023, not 2003 - not that you’d know it by the state of the trains! It should be possible, on any service, to provide functional Wi-Fi but clearly it’s a Herculean challenge that is beyond EMT - even the Train Manager said the Wi-Fi was rubbish and laughed as he said it! And that’s sitting in First Class! Don’t bother trying to work on the train, you have zero chance of doing anything online…
Either striking or cancelled how can you use the service
Three times a year I book the train to go away I keep having to make alternative arrangements the train is either cancelled on the outgoing journey or return journey or they are on strike. I do not know why you keep advertising on tv to use the service when most of the time it is impossible to do so

Thanks for ruining the Ashes test match ive waited all my life to attend with your strike on the 22nd July. Punishing the people that fundamentally pay your wages isnt particularly sensible. I have zero sympathy for your unions or cause. You can stick it up your backsides
Fantastic service
I was @ Eastmidlandtrains on the 7th of July in Nottingham i went to the information desk & there a young guy called chris i spoke to him to see if i can get a assistance to help me with my mum & he was fantastic he helped me in every way nothing was to much well done
Posotive customer service review.
Customer service review.
Missed train by a few minutes. A member of staff at no extra cost to us sorted us out a new ticket for the next available train. Big thumbs up.
Another Disappointing Journey
Another journey on East Midlands trains that is filled with disappointment. The trains themselves are old and exhausted and this was felt, and heard, through the journey with large metallic vibration noises coming from the ceiling panels.
First class service is sold but not delivered. No food and drink available as advertised and a lack of staff impacting customer service, despite it being known in advance (according to the one member of staff available).
Nothing good about this service but no other options available for the route from Nottingham to London and the company seems unable, or unwilling, to do anything about it

ALWAYS bad
SO bad. Very frustrating service. I have got on trains for 15+ years from Nottingham to London. It seems to get worse and worse. They lie all the time about the time it takes. The times I have spent dawdling through the nottinghamshire countryside on a train is untrue. I try to drive as much as possible and if I have to get the train, wish me luck. ALWAYS set off an hour earlier than they say. Sad but true.
Disgusting old trains from Norwich to…
Disgusting old trains from Norwich to Liverpool with only 2 carriages which was completely full and everyone packed and squashed for such a long journey. No refreshment coach, has to be the worst train operator I have experienced within the UK.
