Babies and inconvenience at Eastwood Hall

We stayed at Eastwood Hall Hotel with our 14 week old newborn. We had concerns when booking in regards to bottle sterilising and Formula storage. We asked at the check in phone call if the rooms had mini fridges which we were informed that they didn’t but we were told the hotel staff would be happy to sterilise our babies bottles in their microwave and store our Formula jug in a fridge. This was excellent news so we looked forward to our stay. After arriving, we already had bottles that needed sterilising so I called reception and they said to take the the steriliser to the restaurant. It wasn't easy to get staffs attention but I got a males attention who eventually turned out to be the bar and restaurant manager.

After explaining the situation to him he happily took the steriliser around the corner and I hear;" What the "F" is that!!" From a female staff member followed by;" You've got to be Joking! ". I kept my cool and left the restaurant and complained to reception. They stated the manager will be informed who came to see us during our dinner who apologised and also was the same male staff member who I gave the steriliser to in the first place. He stated that he had words with the staff member and said she wasn't aware I was in the restaurant. Not that it should matter! Comments like that shouldn't be said or made! I expected better in 4 star hotel and staff to be helpful and not complain about putting something in a microwave for 5 mins or so. I also question wether the "Manager" actually had words with her because had that been me and it was said right infrint of me I wouod have reprimanded her immediately!

We were left not knowing what to do as we felt very uncomfortable despite the restaurant manager giving us a free drink each during our meal which we didn't ask for. Not to mention for the price of the meal it was more of an insult than anything. I ended up ordering a portable bottle steriliser online to ensure that we aren’t reliant on incompetent staff who feel its to difficult to oress a few buttons on a microwave. We thought we had found a lovely hotel to use regularly for seeing family but won't return as we spent the rest of our stay transportidng bottles to the closest family member 30mins away to get bottles sterilised. Id like to add if babies are an issue in your hotels that this should be stated when people book so they can make more appropriate bookings elsewhere.

This was a deeply upsetting stay at…

This was a deeply upsetting stay at Eastwood Hall as a disabled guest.
I am autistic and ADHD and informed the hotel on arrival. A late checkout until 12:00 was agreed so my carer could assist me. Despite this agreement, staff disabled my key early, repeatedly knocked and called before 12, and blocked my carer from returning while I was in distress.
This caused severe sensory overload, dizziness, and nausea. While unwell, I was then threatened with police involvement and extra charges.
Other serious issues:
Gym closed early three times
Locked inside the games room when staff left early
“Double bed” was two singles pushed together (very painful with back issues)
TV was not smart, no streaming apps, and HDMI ports blocked
This experience breached reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act and left me physically unwell. I am seeking a full refund and would not recommend this hotel to disabled travellers.

Very poor

Book signing event. All staff very helpful and friendly but ridiculous arrangement for ordering food. Under staffed with young staff who did not have basic information like what food was available. Long wait for food even though management were aware of the number of people likely to be attending. Very poor quality food that was over priced and not what could reasonably be expected from the description. Management obviously happy to exploit both customers and staff. Very disappointing.

Great recommendation 👌

We arrived at this beautiful spot, main reception was clean and nice, the man at the desk gave my boy a colouring bag full of goodies.
Room was very nice for what we paid for, family room for 3, my request was met with a bottle of presecco and pettles.
Our stay was comfy and quiet.
The breakfast was great and a good range of choices for all :)

My price was with breakfast for all 3 of us :)
Would recommend.

Nothing like the pictures - Poor Breakfast - Out of order facilities

Don't be fooled by the pictures the old hall part of the hotel doesn't really come into play unless you're using one of their conference rooms / business / function suites. All bedrooms are in modern blocks so more akin to a Premier Inn although somewhat larger. Not really a 4* as our room had threadbare carpet, old screw holes in the wall. Steam room was out of action. Breakfast was lukewarm buffet with no fried eggs or mushrooms. Better places available at the £109 we paid. 3* at best and marked down for the above faults.
