Best experiences I had
I had several events always top. I highly recommend.
absolutely disapointing
I booked a dinner in Paris through “Eatwithme” for a very special day. It was our first birthday together – yes, we share the same birthday!
I transferred a considerable amount of money and then tried to get in touch with the hostess, Charlotte. We went to the area listed in the booking and tried to find the hostess’s apartment, but both the attempt to contact her and to locate the place were unsuccessful. As a result, the dinner simply didn’t take place, and we never received any response from the hostess.
I also tried to contact “Eatwithme,” but that wasn’t possible either, since their business hours don’t cover evenings or weekends — which is quite inconvenient, considering that most of these events take place during those times. This means there’s no way to get help when problems occur. I then sent an email to file a complaint, but that message went unanswered. A second email finally led to a brief reply saying they would look into the issue. Another two weeks later, I received a refund of the amount paid. However, I never received a sincere apology or any form of compensation, such as a voucher or goodwill gesture.
In my opinion, the app does not live up to its promise. The company should take responsibility for the experiences it facilitates or at least respond to problems in a customer-friendly way. Of course, mistakes can happen — but it’s a company’s duty to prevent such issues and to handle them appropriately when they occur. That was not the case here. I am very disappointed and will not book with Eatwithme again, and I can only advise others not to do so either.
The worst place to eat in St Pancras is…
The worst place to eat in St Pancras is
Station Breakfast Club. I had a terrible Coffe and a very bad scrambled eggs and salmon for lunch today. I paid £23.96. I really think it’s not worth the price. Really bad experience I don’t recommend there are plenty of better places there
Was a fan but disastrous customer service
Was a fan, but they're customer service and technical bugs in their platform is too disastrous to deal with. I paid money to attend an event of theirs only for it to be cancelled the day before with 0 notice and no offer of a voucher/amendment
Terrible. We were RIPPED OFF.
We booked a Czech cooking class with Eatwith through Expedia. The information that was given for the address for the class was wrong - there was no building address, only the name of a street and there was no sign or identifying pictures on any building. We walked along this street for 45 minutes asking restaurant owners and store owners if they knew where this was and they all said that this was not a proper address as it had no building number. We were on the phone with Expedia for a long time trying to get a hold of this company but Expedia said no one answered the phone number. We eventually gave up through NO fault of our own.
We asked Expedia for a refund. They contacted Eatwith who said they would NOT refund our money. We are out $500 CAD for what? NOTHING. This is the WORST customer service I have ever experienced!!!!! Shame on you EATwith.
should be screwyou not eatwith
I registered for the Milan pizza and gelato course and by chance as I was getting ready to go found in my email they had cancelled the class without reason. These nasty people should not be in business.
Amazing experience
Amazing food local experiences
I have used Eatwith 4 times to try unique dining experiences around the world.
I had the opportunity to meet fantatsic hosts who had so many wonderful stories to tell and made me feel at home while enjoying incredible food.
I can't wait to be able to try one of their cooking classes.
Who knew s dinner could be that…
Who knew s dinner could be that special! I recently joined an Eatwith dinner in Tel Aviv and every moment was so unique. You get to meet people, hosts, listen to stories, and eat well. Amazing.
I recently had the pleasure of…
I recently had the pleasure of participating in a paella cooking class in Barcelona, and I cannot express how wonderfully delightful the experience was. It exceeded all my expectations, and I am absolutely thrilled with the fantastic host and the warm, friendly atmosphere.
I had an incredible experience using Eatwith
I had an incredible experience using Eatwith! The website made it easy for me to discover unique dining experiences. It truly opened up a world of gastronomic adventures for me, and I can't recommend it enough to anyone who loves food, culture, and making memorable connections.
Much better experience than a Restaurant!
This website offers better experience than a restaurant in a more relaxed atmosphere. Having a food experience with local is such a unique moment! With Eatwith it is so easy to meet local chefs and have an experience you will never forget. I really recommend it!
Eatwith is close to fraud
Eatwith is very close to fraud. I decided to try them for the first time and booked a host - this host cancelled in 2 minutes which may be understandable. However, Eatwith took the money from my card and informed me they will return it only in 10 days! Clearly, they must not take any payments until the host confirms and only freeze the amounts!
Ok, I decided to book another host straight away. This host cancelled too! And Eatwith AGAIN took the money from my card and AGAIN said they will refund it in 10 days.
People should be scared to book with them. Eatwith can gradually take all the money from your card and say they maybe, if you are lucky, return it in 10 days.
From a previous chef
Writing as a previous chef. The experience used to be good but then not so much.
I used to love hosting on this platform. I met interesting people and it was nice side income.
I was on the platform for many years. I used to really love it to the point that I participated in many efforts to publicize the site in early years by donating my time allowing news reporters, and videographers into my home.
Despite doing that, I don't feel any of that was ever appreciated. I enjoyed the people who dined on the site but the interactions with the staff was lacking.
The platform worked by letting you host an approved dinner on the platform. Eatwith would come to your house to take photos of your food for the website. For a fee tacked on to the price of your dinner they were supposed to bring you guests?
In later years the only dinner that was selling out was the one that I could sell out on my own. Other bookings were few and far between. They were always for one person or for a single couple. It felt like the site never provided more people to create the group dinner that was being advertised.
I was always under stress of my own work ethic, to not cancel my dinners for one or two guests so I would invite friends and feed them for free negating any money that I would make.
After COVID the experience just became plain bad. When I decided to host again there was dead silence for over a month. I was unable to get in touch with anyone. No one responded to the chat, emails, or even social media.
Every time a new community manager came on board they wanted to completely redo the photos they took for me. It was bothersome to have them in my home photographing so many times for the same dinner. I had to refuse the last round of photos.
When I messaged the last community manager on a Friday night before my dinner I got a cold response that she didn't work on weekends and she offered little support or guidance. She also had no idea who I was when I texted her that night, but I was a booking in her community? She had no Idea who I was.....only weeks before she met me in person, wanted to come to my home to re-photograph the same dinner, called me, and exchanged text messages. It felt bad that the community manager didn't save contacts in her community.
Near the end the community manager mentioned that I could get more bookings if I joined Viator. She brought it to my attention. I didn't even know that was an option.
I received half responses about it for months after I expressed interest in joining. She told me what to do then dropped off and did nothing about it. Then I was asked to re-do things on the site multiple times that took me a lot of time. I even wasted time on a phone call about it when I was otherwise busy, just to find out later that my experience didn't qualify. The Viator option was not even for dinners, but she made me re-do my dinner scheduling etc so many times. I was taken on a three month long ride.
It was a complete waste of time.
In the end I decided that the platform is more stress than it's worth. As a business that they piggybacks on others for income you would think there would be better support, they would know who their chefs were, and people would know what they were talking about.
Eatwith abuses your credit card
Eatwith deducts double payment for an event the host cancels. Impossible to get in touch with the company, as they do not answer emails. Their promised insurance doesn't work because you can't file a claim.
Worth the try
I recently went through Vizeat to share a dinner while traveling abroad. I met wonderful people and tried beautiful local food in a nice place. Totally worth the experience and the price. It changes the way you travel : meeting locals, eating local.

So far I find the website UX deceptive and disappointing from a new brand
So far I find the website user experience deceptive. Particularly the way they present star rating associated with reviews.
They have chosen two shades of orange that basically look so similar that it's easy to confuse a 5 star rating (bright orange stars) with a 1 star rating (also orange stars but a subtle shade darker). Really?? Take a cue from Trustpilots designers - make it clear.
Then when you filter by one specific date they offer you events that are either already sold out or are not on the date you requested - I guess to expose you to more product...
Why not just look at AirBnB's website and UX and replicate that?
For example search by map, activity AND date. Right now the map isn't very useful.
Also, when you put in your filter criteria and (I guess) hit return it's not clear where your results show up. If anywhere..
And if London is your search criteria why show people dinners in Epsom??
The blue flash "Your booking will automatically be accepted" is useless - particularly when the dinner is already SOLD OUT.
It's possible that the dining experiences are worth 5 stars but I'm not sure I'm going to get that far because of their website...
Based on this experience trying to book something is just too much hassle so I'll look elsewhere.
Parisian Magic!
Dinner with Marie-Astrid in her wonderful Paris home was perfection. He home was charming, as was she and the delightful Remy. Our conversation was warm, interesting, and they made us feel like valued friends. This evening was the highlight or our stay in Europe. Oo la la! Vizeat is a brilliant concept and it exceeded our expectations. Did I mention that she is a talented cook? The Apricot tart with homemade pastry crust was to die for!

Great experience
My first time was in Amsterdam like guest, and I loved the experience, so I thought hosting in my place and the experience is being even better. Good chance to exchange stories, culture, customs and meet great people.
