I have purchased several items with many of high value. More than half arrived broken or destroyed. Twice FEDEX would not even allow me to have it because of how badly the item was broken. Sure, they sometimes refund the cost but it's not the cost it's the VALUE that they will not cover. They do not know or understand how to package and ship yet charge enormous fees. I'm thinking of legal action since once I have paid for an item the item is my property. They've destroyed much of my property

Shipping is outrageous

Shipping is outrageous. Even the smallest item is over $30.00. Absolutely no reason for it except they are trying to make money off shipping. I have almost stopped bidding because of the shipping costs. I used to buy a lot, but don’t like getting ripped off.

I was warned to be careful

I was warned to be careful if using this company. I should have listened. I have sold items and they broke two things excusing themselves saying “accidents happen.” My biggest concern is we can't go see what we are bidding on so we rely on something they call a “condition report.” The reports are inaccurate and lack detail. I bought two chairs two different times that had bad springs which were never mentioned. You think I would learn. I bought a third chair which also lacked any seat support but also had been refurbished badly. I paid two hundred dollars for it and they did refund my money so I might add a star. Lol

The shipping Costs and policies for EBTH are outrageous. The shipping charge for the smallest and most easily shippable items is around $35 when the actual cost might be $5-$10. Furthermore the policy of not combining shipping to reduce shipping expenses to the buyer serves to discourage bidding and reduce consignor proceeds.

All in all not very customer friendly.

’m a long-time watch enthusiast

’m a long-time watch enthusiast, and I regularly track Breitling pieces. While I’ve noticed that many of the items this auction house lists are salvaged or close to it, I continued browsing in hopes of finding the right piece.
Last night, I received an email stating that I had won an auction. I was genuinely excited because I had been bidding on a gold Breitling. However, when I went to complete the payment, I was shocked to discover that the item I supposedly won was a $6,600 14k gold nickel—an item I never bid on.
This situation is unacceptable and deeply concerning. Whether this was a system error or something more serious, it reflects extremely poorly on the company. Given their 2.3-star Google rating, I now fully understand why so many customers have issues.
I have no confidence moving forward and will never visit or do business with this website again. This experience has completely destroyed any trust I had.

As a Seller 1⭐️vs as a Buyer 4.5⭐️

As a seller it took WAY too long between drop off & live listing for auction…2-3 MONTHS! The listing lacked size of the items (security doors), plus had insufficient description and photos. It had to be corrected AFTER it went live. I was not given an opportunity to review the listing before it went live. As a seller I was seriously disappointed as this was our test case to see how it works. The buyer got an amazing deal on two brand new security doors. Recommended for a buyer with the caveat that it’s a gamble due to listing inaccuracies. NOT recommended for a seller for the same reason. As a buyer I have had the opportunity for recourse but not as a seller.

I am in disbelief

I am in disbelief ? My check was less than their commission? I estimated the value of my merchandise to be at the lower end of $5,000. One painting had an appraisal of $1,800 done 20 years ago . I had two of them and they each brought $200 each which would not even buy their frames . Total of my sale ended up being about $600 and my check was less than half at $288. They claimed they had buyers of fine art and furniture? I lost $20 on an antique dresser I bought 52 years ago for $20 more than I paid back then . It was over 120 years old and I didn’t end up with $60 . You can not put your trust into a company like this unless you were just going to throw it all in the trash . $10 for 3 lithographs that easily sell for in excess of $150 each online as I wrote this . I got nothing for my $450 invested money because I liked the art . They keep anything that sells at that price so I literally threw it in the trash by letting them convince me they had buyers ? Not even prices you would get in a yard sale and they took 52% of everything. 😢😢😢

Not like the original auction company

I have been shopping with EBTH for over ten yrs. It used to be a good Auction sight. In the last few years the shipping price has skyrocketed and the add on Expedited shipping without you asking. They have sent things out damaged, it seems the people packing the items have no idea what they're doing. The worst of all of this auction sight is, they have spotters. They wait until an item is about to sell and one of their spotters jump in to bump up the price. It is getting ridiculous, you better really want the item because you'll have to pay for it.

Watch out!!!

Watch out. They agreed to sell item of mine. Three weeks later nothing listed on their site. Then told they couldn't sell item and Demanded I pay for shipping to return item they agreed to sell.

Another instance, bought a couple of baseballs from them. Went to pick them up and number of items didn't match number of won auction lots. I caught it. Said something to them. Come to find out they gave away my won items to another buyer.

Just bad all the way around. Avoid or f around and find out!

Do your due diligence

I did some research after reading some of the reviews and I found that us auction brokers is also us auction online and seized property auction.com. check it out it's all the same address in Maryland. They have a tiny little office in that big building they go as their headquarters LOL. Most items are never sold they keep showing up on one site or the other. If you look at their completed auctions you will find that every single item has been sold. Absolutely ridiculous. They're shipping averages $20 and that is per item if you WIN several items you pay that on each and every winning bid. They're consignment fee is 15% or more so do the math. A $20 winning bid will cost you $45 to get to your house. Google the item you're bidding on and you can find it for sale on eBay and elsewhere cheaper than what they want. Watch their wording. Tiffany like is not Tiffany. Reproductions are not the real deal. I could go on and on but just use your head and scope out real auction houses. They are not BBB. FYI.... one item a terrible looking 1858 o half dollar has been sold a dozen times at least and it's always for $41. It bounces around from site to site. YOU MUST BID 51 DOLLARS to get the item because they set the price at 41..... Shameful

I have purchased several rings

I have purchased several rings. In fall of last year I purchased a ring for $716, which I believe included shipping, etc. I recently had it appraised and it was valued at $7722.00, yes, you read that right. Almost $8K. BUT you HAVE to READ the detailed description and know what you are buying. I have been buying jewelry for decades and have a good idea of what it's worth. So far I am delighted. A new piece just came today...an oval pink diamond and pear white diamond at around 2.50 carats. It's stunning.
I am now considering selling there too.

The Thrill of The Find

If you love the excitement of the hunt and discovering unique treasures, EBTH is the place to be! I've found some truly special jewelry and artwork through their auctions. The platform is easy to navigate, and the listings provide good detail.

I recently had a bit of a wait for an artwork purchase (ordered 4/20, arrived 5/6). However, the "Buyer Concierge" was very responsive. Patrick explained the shipping process from a different warehouse and kept me informed, which I appreciated.

My only wish is for combined shipping on smaller items. It would save on shipping costs and reduce packaging waste.

Ultimately, the unique finds and the thrill of the auction make EBTH a winner in my book. Just be prepared for potential shipping variations, especially with unique items.

THE WORST OF THE WORST

The most dishonest company I have ever dealt with. They make you do all the work like packing up everything and dropping it all off at their warehouse. For us it was a 3 hour round trip drive. Our rep there (Caryn) basically misrepresented everything. We started this horrible process back in early February and out of the $2549.60 they owe us, we have only received $473.50 to date. They kept telling us the checks would be released on a certain date and when they were not, they would simply make up a new date. We are still waiting for check(s) that were supposedly release on 4/1/25. It has been over a month and still nothing. The last check they released was on 4/22/25. I know the USPS is not great, but give me a break. Where is our money? If you read reviews (and I only wish I had before dealing with these people), you should run from EBTH and use ebay or craig's list or even facebook marketplace. These people will lie to you repeatedly and you will wait forever to get your money if you are a seller. They also have the worst reviews overall I have ever read and I suspect the good ones were written by the company. AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!

EBTH Gouges on Shipping Tremendously Over The Past Two Years

I have purchased many items through EBTH beginning 2018. But what I have noticed, and increasingly so over the past two or so years are some issues that have reduced my using the site these past six months.

The first is the gross and outrageous shipping amounts that EBTH has been charging on some items which have become far higher than the recent shipping cost increase occurrences can justify. Yes, we have only three major domestic shipping options in the U.S., USPS, UPS, and FedEx. USPS in my experience is superior in many ways, but it is not used by EBTH –– only FedEx.

All three have increased their shipping costs, and aside from the USPS, this is an insult simply because both UPS and now FedEX customer service and delivery from the receiver's side has plummeted immensely. One need only check their reviews of both anywhere to see this. Sadly over the past ten years, the standard with almost everything in the consumer market from necessities to desired items is to pay increasingly more for less and less in quantity and quality no matter what it is.

As far as I am concerned with EBTH, It does not cost $597 to ship a standing lamp from only three States away.

I had purchased an antique standing lamp from EBTH only two years ago and it cost only $69.59. It was a late 19th century lamp. Unlike the three like it listed right now, mine still had a glass shade.

So, why suddenly does it now cost more than eight times more than what I paid to ship a similar lamp only two years ago is beyond me. As I write this there are now three of them up for auction on EBTH, each with shipping at $597.

What I have noticed is that the more desirable an item may be, the tendency is for the shipping to not just be high, but outrageous regardless of size and weight. You can check similar items of less desirability on the site and notice that difference in shipping amounts readily. Suddenly mirrors, framed prints, etc., of similar sizes a few years ago are costing hundreds to ship, when it was only a fraction of that a year or two ago.

If the Goodwill can ship similar items at roughly the same cost they have been charging the past fix to six years, then what is EBTH's excuse? That and the Goodwill ships using FedEx just as EBTH does. Yet, the Goodwill shipping amounts are incredibly low in comparison for similar size items. To me this is a clear indication that EBTH is price gouging. Now call them and ask them to justify their costs and of course you will be given what sounds like a logical and rational reason for this. But then would you expect anything else? Yet, people are people. When someone wants something they will too often roll over and play dead accepting just about anything if it sounds logical or not. We see this all around us.

Oh, and EBTH unlike both the Goodwill or eBay will not combine shipping from items won and handled through the same location. I've tried.

Now I know from almost thirty years of using eBay that gouging with shipping has been a big problem. Ebay has tried numerous times to curb this behavior by their sellers by changing policies and in some ways it has improved, but in others no. And regarding antique or vintage items sold by dealers on Ebay or elsewhere, I've notice the tendency still is to overcharge on shipping. But as long as people are willing to pay it, there is no reason for sellers to not do so. This is basic economics 101.

My other complaint, albeit somewhat minor is that there has been an increase in sloppiness in categorizing items. A certain amount of mistakes are going to happen of course. But someone needs to explain to me how a collection of three vases is a lamp. And yet, I find such screw ups taking place more and more over the past year. You never know where on their site you are going to find items anymore. Ebth is a small online auction site that cannot compare in size or quantity to eBay, Etsy, or any of the others and yet descriptions are far too lacking, inaccurate, and items miscatagorized to justify. It's simply sloppiness.

As far as the one large furniture piece I once won, it was never delivered. The company they used for freighting it missed every date, gave every excuse as to why they would postpone it, etc. until finally I contacted EBTH and told them to keep it and refund my money.

I will say that the quality of items has increased over time, but that is neither here nor there. There is nothing in this world that I want or need so much that I'm willing to drive myself nuts over it. Ultimately, it's just stuff, things, objects. As such, they come and go, come and go, come and go in our lives.

Why go crazy of them?

So, for these reasons I have gone from using the site daily to maybe checking it once a month or so, if that. It just isn't worth the frustration.

Do not sell with Everything But The House

In August 2024, I contact Everything But The House (EBTH) as we were moving from the US to the UK, and had a lot of household items we could not take with us, an wanted to sell them.

They sent out a representative - Brandon - who came by to review what we were wanting to sell. While the representative was there, we informed her that in addition to the many household items we had to sell, we also had a collection of art and some musical instruments (harps) that we were going to sell through specialist dealers. My husband is an artist who has had exhibitions in many cities, he plays the harp and has a large collection of them, and I am a photographer. Brandon told us that EBTH could sell them for us. We were initially relcutant, but she persuaded us that EBTH woudl have specialist auctions for them, that they would market them specifically, that they would hold an auction just for my husband's art. I have all of these promises in emails and transcripts of voice messages.

They charged us 1900 to collect our items (to drive them approx. an hour).

In total we gave them 268 items to sell.

They LOST 10 of the items, even though I carefully labelled each one with our name and customer number. I have never had an recourse on the lost items.

In total we made 1400 from 268 items! This includes harps worth over 8000, and art valued at well over 15,000.

They sold valuabel harps for as little as 200, and manhy of our art pieces for 1 or 2 dollars.

I am aware that the contract says that they have no reserves, but we were told 'that never happens', and I have multiple voicemails and emails from the representative promising us the world and persuading us to sell with them.

In total, our items sold for almost 9000, which is still WAY less than their value, but after payign back moving costs and their commissions, we received only 1400 - that is about 5 dollars per item.

We complained, and got no replies. I was given the name of the VP of sales to email, and he never replied. Our lawyer has contacted them, and they do not even reply to them.

We feel totally cheated and ripped-off. We were persuaded to sell with EBTH, we were promised auctions that would promote our specialist items, and we got nothing of what they promised.

Before all this happened, I bought what I thought was a gemstone on one of their auctions. Not only did they charge me 50 dollars to mail it - when it weighed almost nothing - but when I took it to a dealer, I was told it was glass, not a real gemstone, and was worthless.

I would NEVER trust Everything But The House Again.

This company I bought well over $30,000…

This company I bought well over $30,000 worth of products over about a 12 year period. The last item bought, my card was declined, as it had happened several times, I would always give them another card and make it correct. This time a day later, somehow fraudulently, they went into my savings account, which were never given permission to do so I would not even give my mom permission or give her the savings account number. The several times it happened through the 12+ years I always made things right with them.I put in a fraud case against them through JP Morgan Chase, my bank, they totally agreed that it was a big no-no on what they did, they refunded the $6200 back into my account permanently. Next thing I know my counts are ordered frozen. They were able to get almost $19,000 which included the 6200, interest and attorneys fees. This is the biggest RACKET I’ve ever seen, but it doesn’t stop here little do they know, my Attorney is already on it. I had spent so much money with them, for them to turn around and steal from me, which is basically what they did!!!!! erroneously through fraud got into my savings account to get their money instead of giving me a day or so like they always did to make things right so I could continue to purchase from them and pay for that item. 100% they were in the wrong and JP Morgan Chase will back me up and clearly show where they took that money from my savings account Without my permission. One last thing, it does read on the documents they sent. They cannot pull funds from account that has SSI or pension in it, which that’s all that money was so not only did everything but the house did a fraudulent scenario but the attorney firm did one as well. So they’re all in this scam of a company together. Do not buy one thing from this company, if they will do that to a customer that they had been with them that long, when they could’ve easily made plenty more money from me, but yet would do something which is just like stealing. I don’t think they quite know yet What’s coming down the pike. Do not buy or even consider this company. everything about them that I had to deal with the customer service over the years that was just a joke, but yet I wanted to continue to use their site when I’m sure several things I received in the mail that I purchased Was fraudulent and not real, but I never had it examined. After reading, how many reviews of people that got screwed on their items. That’s why they have a 1.9 review rate…..that’s about the worst You can get on a company.HORRIBLE PEOPLE AND BUISNESS TACTICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The date of experience was December 2023 they would not let me reset it down below.

Inept, unskilled, unknowledgeable and unprofessional

I have made purchases a few times and was happy enough with each one. However, it was an entirely different story when I tried to sell a very high-end piece of furniture. This was a bergere, or chair, that currently retails for $8,000. Yes, that's not a typo, eight thousand dollars retail.
These people didn't know what they were looking at in spite of the fact that I named the designer piece and retail price in the on-line form I filled in to consign the piece.
Now, I don't blame EBTH for what bidders are willing to pay, which was $150. I truly think this was such an expensive item that the clientele of EBTH just did not recognize it. (I bought it back myself via my daughter). But I do hold EBTH completely responsible for the disastrously awful selling experience.
I called and complained when I saw the listing appear without properly identifying the designer of the chair, and they did correct it. However the photographs were terrible and were not correctly re-done even when I requested it.
Somebody there who accepted the consignment knew by the information I submitted that this was a very high-end, expensive piece yet that was not passed on to whomever handled - correction, mishandled - the listing.
Then after the sale they sent me a link to fill out the W-9 with the wrong name on it.
These people are inept, unskilled, unknowledgeable, and unprofessional.
And the final insult was that when I went back to collect my chair, THEY HAD SCRATCHED AND DAMAGED THE FRAME. I had examined every inch of the piece before handing it over to them and I absolutely knew the condition. I pointed out the damage and the guy just stood there and looked at me.
I don't think I could be more disappointed and irritated with this experience. I am closing my EBTH account and I will never, ever again look at their site.

EBTH assumes ZERO responsibility for anything- READ the terms and conditions

Please read the reviews here and read the terms and conditions before using EBTH. Per the terms and conditions, EBTH takes zero responsibility for anything.
READ the Terms and Conditions before you accept them. Seriously, read the terms and conditions.
The buyer and seller assume all risks. Additionally, EBTH charges a minimum of $31 to ship a small item, such as a necklace by FEdex ground. They are making $$ off of shipping. Per the shipping agreement, they will not combine shipping-ever.
Whether there are shill bids, you will not know.
Also, they list the same item with different descriptions. They listed a howlite necklace accurately. But they list the exact same necklace as “turquoise”, when it is actually howlite. However, since EBTH takes ZERO responsibility for the accuracy of listings, including fakes, copies, misrepresentations, etc., the buyer has no recourse.
Also, if you want to really learn about EBTH, read the employee reviews on Indeed or Glassdoor. The employees admit to the items being sold as “fakes.” The company seems a terrible place to work- which usually translates to terrible customer service.
Please do not use EBTH.
