excellent value
Overall I was very satisfied, excellent value for money, including free additional driver which is an important factor when I and my partner are travelling. Only slight issue was I didnt think the directions to pick up the shuttle bus service outside the airport were very clear I had to call Auto Europe customer services to get intouch with the company to collect us. other than that very good service, car was brand new!

Terrible, full of hidden costs
I have booked a vehicle from ecarz.co.uk online and was then told to pick up my car from AVIS. I have paid in full when I made the booking online with ecarz and when I picked up my car, I was charged much more by AVIS. On the back of the hire contract, it states that SatNav will cost Euro4.00 per day for hire and I was charged Euro26.88 by AVIS for four days and also extra hidden VAT charges of Euro30.54 which I was not made aware of during my first booking with ecarz.
Besides that, I selected a Mercedes Benz A class and then I received a Seat Leon instead. I strongly feel cheated and will never again use ecarz or AVIS in the future.

Please be kindly advised that the cars displayed on our website are categorized into similar groups according to the Association of Car Rental Industry Systems Standards. We display as much information as we can to help you with your selection including the approximate size of the vehicle and whether the car is manual or auto, with or without air conditioning.
What you actually receive when collecting your car may not match the image you were shown at the time of the booking. This is why all cars are displayed with the "or similar" note along side them as they are for reference only and do not guarantee that is what you will receive. The hire car you receive on collection should fall into the same car class grouping as the one you booked and paid for.
With regards to the charges made by Avis at the rental desk, we are sorry that these were not expected. We display all information about how much the fees will be in the T&C's that customers read and agree to at the time of booking. However, if you would like us to look in to this further for you, we are more than happy to query the charges with Avis on your behalf. Pretty smooth but hard sell on the insurance
Car booking was pretty smooth and decent value. Ecarz organised one of the rental companies for the actual hire.
Couple of inputs into the hire - We had car from Milan Bergamo and had been allocated Goldcar.
In general the hire was fine, the car was of a good standard and the staff were pretty efficient.
Couple of negatives however:
The hire location is not at the airport and it is not clear where the pickup point is for Goldcar - we had to ask a few people to get clarification which was not the best start to the break.
The other was regarding the insurance/excess - got the pretty hard sell to upgrade, we had purchased separate insurance for this from a third party to try and avoid this but still got the hard sell, guess they have to make money somehow but still a pain.

Good online service but pick up location misleading
Good online service but I was informed during the process that the car hire desk was at the terminal. Arrived at Bergamo to discover I needed to get a shuttle bus to pick up the car and when dropping the car back. This meant I needed to allow extra time when returning the car. Would have been good to have been told this before. Pick up and drop off locations are misleading.

Great car
Our car was just what we wanted, and it was immaculate. We collected the car at Prevesa airport but unfortunately had to wait nearly an hour for the handover. On our return it was better!

Booking was a quick and easy affair and if you find no problems, they are as competitive as anyone. However, should you subsequently find a problem with your booking, their support strategy is to put you off in the hopes the problem will go away. A case of hanging the customer out to dry?

worst car rentals I have dealt with
After serval days of my booking I get told the car I booked (7 seater) is not available and offer a 5 seater which is no use for a party of 6. The provider company auto Europe were rude and very unhelpful.
I will never use either company again
