This situation is extremely…

This situation is extremely disappointing. I attended an appointment for a blood pressure check, during which the doctor was very rude. I requested to transfer to a different doctor, but my request was denied. Additionally, the general manager advised me to find another practice. I am considering pursuing legal action for abandonment. -Dr. O.

ECU Health Extremely Poor Customer Service

My 91 year old mom's PCP (ECU Multispecialty Clinic Kinston, NC) has started showing up as not in network on her BCBS claims. Called BCBS and they told me he is no longer in network for her plan. In order to get the BCBS payment sent to the provider instead of to my mom (which she has requested) BCSB told me that the provider would need to initiate one of two options: assignment of benefits or review of out of network provider. They gave me the numbers to call to do either one and this info has been submitted to several folks within the organization. It plainly states on her claim forms that he is out of network and the closest in-network to her is located quite a distance away. Requested this call to be made at the provider's office. Was told they do not handle that and to call ECU Health's billing customer service to request it. Called them and was told they do not do that it has to come from the actual provider (Dr's office). Informed Dr's office of this and have been given the runaround from both the Dr's office and ECU Health Billing office. Even the office manager for the ECU Multispecialty Clinic has been involved to no avail. Was told the Dr. is in network but according to BCSB he is not. Simple request to me but obviously not to ECU Health. Have been going back and forth for a month now and I finally called ECU Health's Office of Experience. Very polite lady I spoke with there has called and emailed numerous people but I still have not heard a word from anyone. I am grateful to her for trying but it makes it even sadder that no one responded to her office. That speaks volumes to me. So sad that the ECU name that is associated with this organization is not what I thought it was. Total lack of concern or care for their patients. I have had pretty good luck with the doctors that I have visited within ECU Health but the customer service side is in need of repair. I didn't think my request was too complicated but obviously it was.

Update as of 05/08/2023 Finally got the name of ECU Health's Customer Service and Collections Manager, Ginger Drake. Called her on 3/17/2023 and was told they would look into it and get back to me. Heard nothing after one month so on 4/17/2023 I called her back. Was told it had been handed over to the credentialing person and that they would get back to me. Three weeks later (05/08/2023) have still heard not one word from them. This example of customer service is a joke.

Update 11/21/2023: Have been told numerous times that something was done and we would wait and see if it works. Was told in August that BCBS's vice president was involved. Still getting checks from BCBS. It astounds me that a University Medical System and BCBS cannot get their crap together. I am convinced this is an ECU Health issue and my faith in them has been totally erased.

Update 02/01/2024 Still receiving checks from BCBS and NOTHING has been done to correct this. My mom (who is 92 now) gets very upset as this has been going on for over a year. BCBS offered several solutions to ECU Health that NOONE there would follow to correct this. ABSURD!
