Inspiring and curated
I love how different this is from other books! Lots of gorgeous photography, some inspiring stories by Japanese artists, a a selection of places that feels hand picked and leave an impression. It’s a good thing for me because I don’t enjoy clinical guidebooks that I find overwhelming. My only criticism would be that it doesn’t capture price variations by season and a few hotels become more expensive in spring when we went. But we are keeping them in our list for low season as the rest didn’t disappoint! Our favourites were Maana Kyoto and Soki Kanazawa!
