I feel scammed

I did a course on electromagnetism, 8.02.1x. I completed the first (electrostatics) out of 3 courses, and the materials and teaching staff were great.

However, I prepaid the whole programme, and before I could start the second course they were all removed from the platform. I did not get a refund for the remaining two courses.

The EdX courses are good but unfair

The EdX courses are good, but need flexibility, so that the one who has done more than 50% of assignments ,as audit, could be able to pay and to be able to finish the course. Not to cut him off in the middle of the course. Education should be a priority here, not- business and money! You stress and depress people. They lose their time, and become unhappy. Bad decisions of the EdX management team.

I enrolled in Coding Bootcamp at edX…

I enrolled in Coding Bootcamp at edX with the understanding, as conveyed by a representative, that successful completion could lead to job opportunities with a potential starting income of up to 100k, eventually moving towards 180k. I dedicated myself fully to the course, aiming to acquire all necessary skills. Despite my efforts, I've been unable to secure even a single interview in the six months since completion and remain unemployed. My experience with the support services post-course was disappointing; when I reached out for assistance, I was informed that there was no guarantee of employment. I also encountered an incident where one of the instructors made racist remarks towards "Mediocre White Males", which was concerning. This experience has left me in debt without the anticipated career advancement. For anyone considering this program, I recommend thoroughly researching and understanding the potential outcomes and support offered before committing.

Do not waste your time and money.

Scam in buying a certificate from edX

I completed a Professional programming course from edX that was well-known on and off the platform a long time ago and did not receive a certificate of completion. Furthermore, I purchased the paid certificate and did not receive any certificate and the site's support team does not work, instead, they have ready-made questions that do not help. I can conclude from my experience that this platform is a scam, they use the names of globally known companies to receive money.

Bad customer service

I have used the chat to ask questions about the course and the person (should've take the name -_-) on top of taking ages to reply, kept on telling me to "google it" , she/he clearly didn't know anything about the course (Front-End web dev). Now seeing all the bad reviews of this platform I will not proceed to the course.

Good freemium

Good freemium
Nice courses, a bit too informative but with a little bit of practice. I started the LLM course and noticed that, the business is inside the databricks workspace you need to purchase! Everything needs money, so even this course does it! It is just hidden behind a (necessary) condition to use the (payable) databricks workspace in order to make experiments with python code using LLM stuff.

The labs don't load in time, no explanation on code in labs

The labs don't load in time. For example the lab on web scraping did not load for at least 2-3 times and on the 3 rd try it took 2-3 min to load.
Links provided in the lab do not work.
Labs has no explanation on the code or there is no explanation what is "Mamba". This was never explained .
Wasted my money behind EdX. EdX is hiding behind big names and when you experience the course, you are in state of disbelief !
There are surely better options !

SCAMMED ME OUT OF OVER $12K- THIEVES!!!

This company is a complete scam. They use the names of real universities to make their programs sound legit. Their boot camps are nothing more than short videos and rushed class sessions where students are just told to google questions. They hype up their certificates when in all reality the boot camps do little if anything to prepare students for a career in tech. It is basically just an extremely expensive intro to coding. The career support after the course is just a job board and resume builder. Absolutely everything in the course, including "career services", can be found online for free. Most employers couldn't care less about Edx certificates because they know Edx is just a scam. Edx works with high interest lenders that trap students into debt to pay the ridiculous tuition. I was scammed out of over $12,000 by Edx through their Data Analytics boot camp at Case Western. Little did I know at the time that Case had absolutely nothing to do with the program. By the time students realize that they were duped, it's already past the one week refund period. They prey on people like me that were hit hard during the pandemic and needed to change fields. They sell a bill of goods and tell you that the potential increase in your earnings makes the program worth the astronomical cost. Complete thievery. It's disgusting that real universities allow this company to "borrow" their names and logos for a fee. Avoid these people at all costs. Save the tens of thousands of dollars and go to a community college or real university where they teach actual employable skills.

Avoid!!!!

Teacher was impatient with students and unprepared to start the course. He didn't have a formal coding education and he quit two months into the course.
They do not provide a textbook version of the curriculum. They refer you to other people's work.

I'm in the process of getting a diagnosis for auditory processing disorder and I was begging them for months for help and they refused. Repeatedly. I then suffered stress related syncope and ended up in the hospital. They removed me from the course but want me to still pay them $8,000

"edX has been an incredible resource…

"edX has been an incredible resource for me on my journey to achieve a TOEFL certification. Their platform is not only user-friendly but also packed with high-quality educational content. The fact that they offer this course for free is truly remarkable, making education accessible to everyone. I've found the course structure and materials to be comprehensive and well-organized.

Thieves they will take your money

Thieves they will take your money and put you in debt with a student loan. The course itself is very lacking the tutor is disorganised and they shouldn't be providing these higher level courses using UOB, Colombia and Harvard lol. Abysmal I cancelled my whole funding and course. They make constant excuses but never apologise really a joke. Please don't sign up to the tech courses they are 10k clown courses but will leave you in debt.

Edx and Case Western Reserve- Very sad!!!

I took the data analytics bootcamp through Case Western Reserve and Edx. This predatory for-profit "education" company should be avoided at all costs. They use legitimate and respected universties to trap people like myself into thousands of dollars of debt. They claimed that the course was for beginners with little to no coding experience. The material is covered at an extreme pace, which is expected in a boot camp, but nothing is actually learned. The only requirements are: turn in the assignments even if incorrect or incomplete, attend a certain number of classes, and pay. Right from the outset payment seemed to be top priority for this company. After wasting almost $13,000 for a program that didn't actually provide any useful skills, I realized that instruction for every single topic covered in the course could be found online for free. The piece of paper that is given out as a certificate of completion is absolutely worthless because employers know that all of the content in the course could be googled. The career service is laughable. It is simply just a resume coach and job board, again these being available online for free without having to spend $13,000. I can't fault Edx for profiting off of buffoons like myself, but shame on Case Western Reserve University for allowing such a scam company to operate under their banner. Case is a prestigious university and it is very disheartening to see such an institution stoop to such a level in order to make a quick buck off people that are changing careers or have lost jobs due to the pandemic. If anyone is considering a bootcamp through Edx, please reconsider and think about taking classes at a community college or legitimate computer science program.

Huge Waste of Money

Waste of Money: edX course

I took the edX course: MITx Introduction to Biology: The Secret of Life. I thought it would go ok, I had taken some other edX courses as well before, I thought it was trustworthy. I couldn't have been more wrong.
After studying so hard, learning so much, and having MANY WEEKS worth of time wasted and then still failing the exam, I feel traumatized to such a level that I don't think I will be participating in ANY edX course ever again.

The instructor was ok, his teaching style was very thoughtful and engaging,  but some third party made the final exams of the course to make sure that more than 90% of people fail the exam.

85% of the questions were about practical Genetics problems and not about General Biology.

The title of the course was misleading (Introduction to Biology: The Secret of Life). It was actually just a practical  genetics course. They basically lied about it in the course description.

The final exam should be made by the instructors themselves and not by outside parties, who have no idea about what was taught in the class and who make 90% of the questions in the Final Exam from only Genetics and not from General Biology. These examiners didn't understand that Biology is much more than just Genetics.

And when I contacted the administration for assistance and a refund, the person who responded just told me that I could re-register for the next run (pay them a huge sum again) and, strangely, asked me why would I even be interested in getting the certificate for this course? I didn't even bother replying to that.

I would NEVER be interested in participating in another edX course again, let alone an MITx course and I would NEVER recommend anyone to take any edX course.

Note: if it had been possible to give it lower than 1 star, I would have done so.

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification

I did my Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification in EdX and it was a good experience. You would reminded to resume based on the class category you requested if once a week, 3x a week or extensive. And at the end of every module there were exercises/exams where you will be given 1-2 x chance to answer correctly. So, it is best to take down notes to get the most of the course. So far, I was given the leniency I need to finish the course according to the time allotted. There were some comments from previous takers where they were asking for the certificate after part 1. As for my experience, I have my certificate issued after part 1.
The experience was by far, good and I learned a lot.

This is potentially a phising scam.

Hours after I signed up for these course (which were of poor quailty) an internet casino based in the same region of China attempted to spend money via my account, and there was an attempt from the same place to hack into my AppleID.

I bought a $5 course on my favourite…

I bought a $5 course on my favourite topic. When the course began, I could see a woman in large glasses in her own kitchen reading a course on the screen. I couldn't be disappointed more. Not in vain the program doesn't offer any refunds or excerpts from the course. My advice: Always trust courses that can offer a refund and can show some excerpt from the course before you'll pay for it.

You could do better elsewhere and the customer service is terrible

I have taken many, many EdX courses - I know what I will get. However, I took a University of Queensland "micromaster's". There were many problems with the tech and GDPR compliance, and they wanted me to send my identification to a third-party in India. Both EdX and the University of Queensland kept me in the course long enough so I could not get a refund - I finished all the courses but the last one, the capstone, was not possible to complete. No more EdX, and the University of Queensland was also a part of this fiasco. Poor customer service and lost money.

Very very very disappointed

Very very very disappointed. I paid for my son to take. They should give you more than a week to decide whether it’s a good fit for you to get refund. He has a high IQ and usually learns quickly. DO NOT believe the 70% approval. These are based on only those who chose to do the review and NOT on all who have enrolled. Realistically this boot camp is not for majority that enroll. Huge disappointment. There should be more help groups available and made aware to students. They promote a good job availability after finishing. I could go on. Big disappointment hearing from my son.
