We only saw Athens and Rhodes This was a Very DISAPPOINTING Trip to say the least!!!

To start with the food at the hotel was not good at all. I paid a lot of money for this trip and was expecting something worthwhile. We were really looking forward to some authentic Greek food but kept getting the same thing over and over. Then when it was time for the cruise they told us the ship was recently updated. There is no way that ship was updated in the last 30 years. The boat was old and run down, smelled bad and was very dirty. They just made our beds before we checked in and the sheets were filthy. The shower was moldy, and the room also smelled. The rooms were really hot and we were not able to turn on the A/C. The food on the cruise wasn't any better. Whatever we didn't finish at dinner they put out the next day for breakfast. This was on top of not being able to go to Santorini and Mykonos. The cruise portion of our trip was a big disappointment, the pool wasn't filled and the hot tubs weren't working properly and were disgusting and green. A lot of money was spent on this vacation and I do not feel like I even came close to getting the my money's worth. Very disappointing, Greece has been on my bucket list for many years. Waited a year and a half to take this trip with my kids and disappointment after disgusting disappointment is all we got. We will never recommend or do another EF tour again.

It was a fun trip! The guides were great!

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

the guides were helpful, informative and entertaining- they managed changes and challenges with little difficulty while keeping things rolling- accommodations were fine, food less than what we hoped for both at hotel and on cruise. Had the unfortunate timing of high winds in the islands and that was very disappointing~ would seem that a cruise to Greek islands wouldn't be part of the trip this time of year as this is apparently quite common~would have liked to have known that before hand

This was a flawless tour on every level. We are not a fan of the new cruise line—it was old, dated and dirty. We were not on the ship much.

Tours and tour guides were excellent but the cruise ship was dirty and run down. However, staff on the cruise ship was pleasant. Departing the cruise ship was very unorganized. Also recommend a little more free time to explore Santorini and Mykonos.

Athens Acropolis and city center was great and you can't find a better tour guide than E'Leni. Mykonos was off season and closed so it is hard to rate in the couple of hours we spent from 9 pm to midnight there because our boat arrived late, our male tour guide for this island was very quiet and boring but he tried. It was just really late at night and we were all tired. Santorini was gorgeous but it was off season and many things closed there as well but again we had a decent tour guide. Rhodes was my favorite island by far and it was a full day of free time to explore which was great. I didn't sign up for any excursion that day. Cesme Turkey was incredible, long drive to Ephesus but so worth it and our tour guide was fantastic. Visiting the local Turkish delight store and turkish rug factory was awesome as well. The cruise line was less than desirable with horrible second hand smoke issues and awful smells in the dining room, very dated, but did have friendly staff. EF did a great job overall. It was mine and my daughter's first time to Europe and the places we saw were surreal. I was blown away and learned so much! EF had great tour guides and also did the best they could do to reroute us to USA ASAP when the airline strike in Germany cancelled our flight home. EF also did wonderful to accommodate 38 of us in NYC until we could fly home two days later. All and all I will be bragging about EF tours as a wonderful experience.

I had two daughters on this EF Tours trip. They both said too much downtime and not enough guides to tell you what you were looking at and the history. You also need to know the chaperones from your school. Unfortunately ours used this trip as a free trip for her and her daughters. She was not around for the kids and some did get into trouble like almost missing the cruise because they were unchaperoned in a bar and didn't realize the time. Another student had to go looking for them. And two kids came home with Tattoos. When it comes time for my third child to go on her senior trip I will say no if it is with EF Tours.

We are sorry to hear that your daughters' experience did not meet expectations and that there were concerns with the chaperone on the trip. While we do not choose the chaperones, we work closely with schools to ensure that they meet certain criteria and have appropriate background checks. We take the safety and well-being of our students seriously and will address any issues that arise. We appreciate your feedback and will use it to improve our offerings and communication. If you have any further concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

The flights were ridiculous. Two days were lost having to take multiple planes. Thank goodness for Stella the guide. She was wonderful and took excellent care of everyone. There was too much packed into the itinerary during the Athens stay. There was no time to see the city. There needed to be beach and shopping days, not just visiting historical sites. Discovering hidden gems in a city makes for a magical vacation. The best part of the trip was the cruise. It was relaxing, entertaining and the food was not bad. My family enjoyed being able to actually have time together.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, Latonya. We are so glad you loved the Tour Director but are sorry to hear it wasn't excellent all around. Your feedback regarding flights will be passed along to our team to review so we can continue to improve our products. Thank you for sharing.

In addition, our educational tours are focused on the historical sites throughout the trip and often have shorter times to explore on your own. If you're looking for a slower paced trip with more time to do things on your own as a family, we recommend EF Go Ahead Tours!

What an unbelievable experience!! I’m still processing all of the archaeological sites we got to visit. The ship made things very convenient and I definitely think the cruise is a wonderful experience. Our tour guide Christiane became our friend for life ❤️

Amazing trip! The cruise experience was awesome for the students, and the islands were beautiful. Stopping in Turkey to see Ephesus was a highlight for most.

My daughter and I traveled together on this tour with a group from her high school and some of their family members. Our tour was delayed a year due to Covid travel restrictions. It was worth the wait! I love how this tour was fairly focused; not much time was spent driving around within the Athens area to see the sights on our itinerary. I felt like the experience was simultaneously deeper and more relaxed than the previous EF Tour we had completed (still highly enjoyable but far more time in transit!). The second portion of this tour took us island hopping, but since the travel time was completed on a cruise ship even that was entertaining. One nice thing about touring with an organized group was the delegation of planning duties to the company and our wonderful tour guide, Kostas. Common sense is still required, but beyond that we could sit back and relax without worrying where we would be going next to eat or what we would be doing. I felt fairly safe in Athens and found our hotel basic but very clean and extremely well placed to walk around the tourist district. The cruise itself also felt safe although I heeded our tour guide’s caution about safety and traveling in groups on our Turkish expedition, specifically for the younger women at the port area. As this tour is designed for students, it is focused upon the educational aspects of the region rather than entertainment only (I found plenty to keep me interested and entertained!). There is a lot of walking and the days are very full, be prepared for a lot of walking. This is a trip I would take again. I highly recommend this for a student traveling alone or as a family activity.
