While I appreciate the intent behind EF Tours—providing students with an educational international experience—this trip fell short in several important areas. Let’s start with the positives: our tour guide was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely did the best he could with the resources provided. I’d love to travel with him again under better circumstances. Now for the concerns. The food options were extremely repetitive and underwhelming. We ate nearly the same meal every day—no real taste of authentic Greek cuisine like gyros or moussaka. It felt cheap and uninspired, especially given the cost of the trip. The hotel choices were also disappointing. Several were located in rough, poorly maintained neighborhoods. We encountered dirty bathrooms, tubs, and even roaches. For the price we paid, better accommodations were expected—even understanding that European standards differ from U.S. ones. The pacing of the itinerary was exhausting, especially for kids. There was little balance between activities and rest. Every day was go-go-go, with not enough time to actually enjoy or absorb the experience. The kids were bored, and many adults were overwhelmed. Today’s students need a mix of fun and structure, not just back-to-back history stops. Lastly, we were constantly taken to buy souvenirs at the same types of shops every day. It felt like filler instead of meaningful exploration. EF Tours has potential, but they need to rethink their pacing, food, and lodging if they want families to return—or recommend them to others.

My son had a great experience
The trio was amazing! Our tour guide, Heleni, was very knowledgeable, helpful, and fun. The variety of sites and the landscapes were beautiful. My children loved the Greek Experience and the beaches! All the additional tour guides were great. The transportation and accommodations were comfortable. The only thing that could have improved the trip would have been more down time, especially foe swimming at the beaches. We have already signed up for the next tour!
My daughter had a great trip to Greece - different tours and learning the traditional music and dance as well as olive oil taste testing; pottery class and the cooking class
The best my son enjoy it 100% highly recommend
Well organized with exceptional tour guides
This was my kids 3rd trip and it was top notch as expected. Guides were friendly and knowledgeable, and accommodations were great.
My son had a wonderful experience with EF Tours in Greece. The trip was informative, well-organized, and covered a lot in a short time — truly worth it for him. My only concerns were with the travel logistics. We received the trip dates fairly last minute, making planning harder. Also, the outbound flight had a layover in Rome of less than an hour, which the group missed. They were stuck in the airport for eight hours and missed part of the trip. As a frequent traveler, I know international layovers under an hour are risky. Overall, the trip was a great educational opportunity. With better flight planning and more advance notice, it would’ve been even better.
A very memorable trip. This tour helped me see and understand the beauty and history of Greece.
It was an amazing experience, and the all the teachers took great care with my child. 10 out of 10 would recommend!
Great trip - awesome experience
My daughter had a blast! Their guide, Marylou was amazing. Highly recommend EF. This was her 5th EF tour.
We had an amazing time and everything planned was great
The EF tour guide was very kind but the itinerary kept changing and there was little time for authentic experiences, especially with dining. My daughter was so excited to eat in Greece and sadly they rarely had authentic meals. Instead they got pizza delivered to the hotel. That's not how an educational tour should function. Additionally one of the excursions was cancelled because of high winds. However EF would not reimburse students the $300 they paid for that excursion despite the tour guiding calling and trying to get a refund. Instead they gave students 15 euros. That in no way covers a cancelled trip that left students on a cruise ship with no plans for the whole evening. I was disappointed with what I felt like were misleading or dishonest practices by EF and would not recommend them.
This tour covered smaller villages as well as bigger cities and historical sites. My son had such a wide range of experiences and came home a changed young man! He loved Greece and everything he did on his time with EF Tours, Grecian Odyssey!
