Long-Winded Review

What I particularly like about the service is its VERY wide range and variety of workouts and teachers. And although they primarily specialize in yoga, they also do pilates, functional movement, and they have now even started incorporating bands and other tools. Most of the workouts require nothing other than a mat though.
Some of their teachers also incorporate breathing and meditation into their more relaxing workouts, which is a real treat. Also, Esther's, the owner's, 5 minute meditations are fabulous. So, you can work on your mind, body, or both.
You can work out for 5, 10, 50 minutes, or 2 hours. You choose the length of your workout. You will quickly find the teachers whose methodology resonates. You can save your favorite workouts in your private or public playlists and you can also search other people's public playlists. Short and intense or long and relaxing are always my favourite combos haha.
In terms of glitches, yes, they're there. The technology, although functional, is definitely not cutting edge. But the customer service is better than the other posts seem to indicate. They're in a different time zone from me, and I work out in the evenings. So, it usually takes them until the morning their time to get back to me. Honestly, I don't find the tech anywhere close to a deal breaker, and their customer service is lovely.
I wholeheartedly recommend the service.

Although this is a good legit business...

Update: Heard from customer service and I'm happy with their response. So, adding a star.

Although this is a good legit business, they have website link issues and poor online customer service. There is also possibly another fake Facebook page pretending to be the legit EkhartYoga; doing some kind of bitcoin trading.

Awful website

Awful website

The content is great but the website is constantly malfunctioning. I cancelled my subscription after not being able to access the classes when I feel like practicing yoga.

Furious

This is not app friendly. The updates to their website and searchable features needs a complete overhaul. What tipped me over the edge was when I canceled my yearly subscription, with confirmation that it was successfully canceled. A month later they took the $175 out of my account. Their response time was unacceptable. After my third complaint I got results. Finally, their excuse for taking my money was a technical glitch. I think there are human glitches to what this company claims to offer.

Been using since 2014, excellent!

I have been a member of the website since 2014 and thoroughly enjoy the classes. At first there were only a few teachers but now there is so much variety.

I recommend this site to all of my friends. I think it is reasonably priced as the monthly fee is just a little more than what you'd pay for a yoga class locally.

Some of the teachers aren't my cup of tea but overall I like most of the classes with Esther remaining my favourite with her lovely manner and calming voice.

Can't recommend this website enough.

Professional and extensive online yoga lessons

I have practised yoga for over 30 years and recently qualified as a teacher. It has been life changing to come across Ekhart yoga and has really helped develop the range of my practice. I can now easily access a variety of lessons - stronger flow lessons or a nice gentle evening yin practice as well as pranayama sessions - and all in the comfort of my own home. You also get to know the teachers which might seem a bit weird given I've never met them but they feel like friends! The instructional videos are also great. Highly recommended.

Thank you Caroline. We love that you feel the connection with the teachers as we feel the same way back about our members - that really means a lot!

The best online yoga site by far

Absolutely wonderful website which has had a profound impact on my wellbeing. When you can't get to a yoga studio easily this allows you to access high quality classes that are virtually as good as a live class. If you use it even once a month you get your money's worth. There is so much choice over length of class, what type of yoga, what level of difficulty and which instructor. They are all great teachers, my favourite being Esther herself, as well as David Lurie, Anat, Iyengar with Adela, Ashtanga by Clayton, so many more to name. The programmes are excellent too as they help you maintain a regular practice. I've subscribed for over four years now and I would not be without it.

beware of Eckhart yoga

Before I qualified as a yoga teacher I had the misfortune to experience one of this website's teachers - initials L.C., from Sussex - and signed up and paid for a course she was running. I was then diagnosed with a chronic, disabling illness just as I was about to start the one year course and this woman flatly refused to refund me the fees I had paid her in advance, even though I became too unwell to do the course. I complained to the British Wheel of Yoga about her and they asked her to refund me. She refused and no action was taken against her. She basically misappropriated nearly four hundred pounds from me at a time when I had become too ill to work.

Years later, after I recovered from illness enough to continue, I eventually qualified as a yoga teacher under the expertise and guidance of genuine teachers, not the opportunist, exploitative variety. I've since met a lot of very real, down-to-earth teachers who have themselves been burned by similar fraudsters in the yoga and alternative health world and the organisations that shelter them. It seems that the wolf in sheep's clothing problem is bigger and more widespread than I had thought.

My advice to anyone looking to get into yoga or yoga teacher training would be to avoid getting involved with any organisation that supports, endorses, defends or employs people like this woman. There are, sadly, individuals in the yoga world and beyond who present themselves as benevolent but who in reality can do a lot of damage to the unsuspecting mind and body. As yoga 'teachers' they often adopt the appearance of serenity that in actuality turns out to be the affectations and clichés of someone playing a role designed to court admiration from naïve students. It's a kind of western guru syndrome based in narcissism. One day you're a house wife, the next you're acting as if you'd been meditating under a Bodhi tree for ten lifetimes.

Truly genuine, authentic practitioners tend to be a lot less narcissistic, they won't steal from you, or harm you in any way, whether that be spiritually, physically or emotionally. Truly ethical organisations won't promote or associate themselves with teachers who have treated students in the way this woman did. no matter how 'lovely' they claim their teachers are. 'Lovely' people tend not to rip you off for hundreds of pounds if they are genuine. But you have to ask yourself whether you'd want to learn yoga from such a person, or what you might be supporting by giving them your money via Eckhart yoga.

If you do come across someone purporting to be a teacher of yoga who does you harm and is unwilling to take responsibility or make amends then at least you know what kind of animal you're dealing with. I write this review simply to help protect others from being hurt by such people in the way I was.

Namaste.

Dear Frank - sorry to hear about your experiences. However, your review is not about our website.
I do happen to know that LC used to work for the British Wheel of Yoga who makes the rules regarding refunds of their courses. We know LC as a honest and very good yoga teacher, and we do support her. But I also hope you can see past this and see all the other things our website has to offer.
