In March 2025 I had Elizabethan Patio doors and Windows come and give me a quote for a new conservatory.
The price seemed ok and coverered all that i required. The salesman kevin seemed to know his stuff in the advice that was offered.
Prior to confirming the supply and fit of the new build i was informed it might be july because bad weather can delay orders and buulding work.
However we had a heatwave of a summer and could have built a housing estate.
In july i contacted them and asked them when they were likely to start as i hadnt heard anything. I then spoke to mark and was pleased to say that they eventually started it on 7th July.25 with footings and ground work being done. One drain moved which later became a problem as it wasnt set at the right height when the concrete and foundations were completed.
I kept asking re the drain and the builders kept saying it would be finished at the end.
Elizabethan ask for payment after each completed work...(Big mistake on my part agreeing to it)
The base and footings done.
Payment made.
Dwarf wall built a month later. Payment done.
Another month later october they started the main structure build..
A kit they had bought from liverpool
They assembled this and asked for payment as it was mainly assembled.
All thru this my liaision was salesman kevin..always smiling. Nothing too much trouble until it was geeing work up as it was promised by end of august but we were well into october.
After putting up the main structure and asking for payment etc it was later noticed the guttering and downspout wasnt in the correct place and stuck on the front of a conservatory and not at the back corner as initially agreed
The drain that id asked about months before was sunken
and not at original level.
Eventually after many phonecalls the electrician and plasterer had done the internal work which was efficient and pleased with their work.
When i started asking questions re the main workmanship and problems with the build. The ever helpful Keven was nowhere to be seen. Always personal issues kept away.
( However kevin was always quick on the phone demanding payment, pleading they were a small company and needed to pay things)
So it was left to mark who did at least listen to the issues raised and tried to give assurances.
I was always told by different workers the downspout would be fixed with a new corner piece( but wrong one kept getting sent)
which was suppose to have an angled outlet to the downspout so it could be fitted to the drain which still hadnt been finished.
This was now getting to december.
One day the workers turned up saying they had the right part.
They finished fitting it then suddenly left ..
When i went out after noticing they had gone i saw the outlet from the replacement guttering came straight down connecting with the downspout preventing the window from opening.
I queried this and was told it was the correct one ...and pointed out the fact it was not as described.
When workmen later returned all i can say is that he was rude in attitide saying well thats how it is and nothing they could do.
I said i dont think companies make downspouts to be fitted to conservatories preventing windows from being opened.
He said well thats how it is. A right bodged job.
Re the drain.
This is now under the flags as it was never raised to its initial level it started at.
Again a bodged job.
There has been other issues with the build ...including panel in the roof and when its high winds you can hear the wind whistling throught the top of the canopy so is not sealed.
Its late january now and we are still awaiting the issues being rectified.
The biggest advice i can give...dont pay until full job is done till full satisfaction.
UPDATE:-
April 2026.
Still waiting....
Ironic as i want a upvc door putting into the garage.
I wont be contacting Elizabethan doors and Windows
