Booked a vehicle, received multiple confirmations, but no vehicle actually available!

Booked a vehicle online. Paid. Received multiple emails & texts confirmations even on the morning I was to collect the vehicle. Offered faster check in online which i did. Received yet more confirmation emails & texts. Only then to be told by the branch there are no vehicles available. No alternative other than to rent another day which obviously makes no sense. Apparently an issue with the website not syncing with what vehicles are actually available at branch level. How in 2026 that is possible is beyond me. Appalling to be left stranded by a multinational. USE ANOTHER COMPANY.

Poor follow up & car not what I booked over phone …

I booked an automatic but when I picked up the manager assured me it was manual.

They handed on extra £25 charge and I’ve since spent over 1 hour trying to get my invoice sent. The manager at Narborough Road Leic said it would be sent but 3 days later still don’t have it. And no one can help on the phone and it’s rare they pick up unless of course you want to rent a car.

Great service from start to finish

From my booking, offered great value, and real helpful talking me through it step by step. Due to a death in the family I had to cancel this booking m, it couldn’t have been easier.
For a big company they seem to offer a very personal service, well done. 🙏🙏

Useless and arrogant customer service.

Went to my local branch in Aberdeen city centre to sort out a hire for my upcoming road trip holiday, as the website is horrendously slow.

Got seen right away, young lad at the counter immediately asks for my name despite never having used them before, then tells me that I have no history with the company.

I reiterate that I am trying to rent a saloon car for my holiday in a month's time, lad immediately attempts the hard sell to get me to take a SUV.

I asked why did he think that I would want an SUV when I've checked on the website that they have saloon cars in stock at that location, he replied that in the 18 months he had been there he had never seen a saloon onsite, and the website was wrong and soon to be updated.

I pointed out that I was aware that the branch has cars delivered by transporter daily therefore if I have ordered a month in advance I would have the desired car delivered to the location, lad condescendingly told me I didn't know what I was talking about, and continued to attempt to hard sell an SUV.

I asked about hiring a Mercedes A-Class, a smaller vehicle than what I wanted, and got told that I would need to have a credit card, then he told me tough luck, then went back to pushing SUVs.

At this point I asked to speak to his manager, only to be told he had gone home, so I made my excuses and left. Will NEVER be back.

Time Wasters

Booked a Passat car to be picked up at 10:30. We arrived at 10:15 to be told the cars were on the way from Huddersfield and would be 15 mins. 45 mins later we were still waiting for them to arrive. When they did arrive it turns out that the enterprise office in Leeds doesn't have Passat size cars! What we were offered was a smaller car which was not fit for the purpose we required. The guy we dealt with was a good guy but the company should never have accepted the order. The website is apparently very out of date and despite staff telling head office of this and the impact it is having on customer satisfaction, Head office have done nothing about it. We wasted an hour and a half of our time and in the end cancelled our order and got a refund. Absolute waste of time. Literally! Will not be using this company again.

Would be zero stars if possible clear…

Would be zero stars if possible clear discrimination present, my partners work vehicle broke down so we needed an alternative reserved went down this morning to be told originally his drivers license isn’t valid that was rectified by a gentleman called Harvey as it was his error !! For him to then say we need a £1000 deposit and also you need to provide 4 contact names and addresses and numbers in order to hire I feel uncomfortable at the fact my partner very nearly gave enterprise my personal contact information without my consent !!! This is standard practice apparently my partner questioned this as nothing prior was stated in the terms and conditions and HARVEY got on his high horse as soon as my partner mentioned reviewing the company Harvey then proceeded to get aggressive with his tone and manner !!! Utterly appalling customer service !!! I believe my partner was discriminated against for the way he looks so if you like being judged and being made to provide other people’s personal information and being spoken to with aggressiveness and attitude then use this fire company!!

Do not use this company.

Do not use this company.
We returned a car with a tiny chip on the windscreen, and Enterprise took €3,000 from our account. According to their own terms and conditions, windscreen damage is excluded from the excess, meaning we should only be charged the actual cost of the repair.
I contacted four local windscreen specialists and sent them photos of the damage. Every one of them confirmed that the chip could be repaired with a simple resin fill, with the highest quote being €102.
We have since checked our bank statement and found that £1,760 has been taken from our account, which I assume is to cover the cost of a replacement windscreen. However, Enterprise has provided absolutely no justification for this. We have received no inspection report, no photos, no repair or replacement invoice, and no quotes to explain why a full replacement was deemed necessary. The entire process has been handled incorrectly and without any transparency.
We have tried to appeal this decision by emailing three different Enterprise email addresses but have received no response.
Unless this money is refunded immediately or a full explanation and supporting evidence are provided, I will be taking this matter further.

Scammers, unexpected charges after 3 months!

So I booked for a car rental online using Enterprise so I could go for a break with my family. On the day of travel the 10th of April 2026, they called me and said they couldn't guarantee a car for me. What a nightmare! I was so stressed out as potentially i was going to cancel my trip, for a week break, which I had booked months in advance. The whole morning I was so stressed as I was contemplating what I was going to do. Eventually they found me a car, but it wasn't the one I had booked. I was relieved that at least I would not need to cancel my trip. Then went on the break in Penrith. I ended up getting a parking charge notice for parking outside Morrisons. Enterprise emailed me saying I needed to contact the external company to pay the fine which wasn't an issue. They passed my details to the company and I appealed against the ticket and it was waived. Enterprise had said they would charge me 35 pounds for administration fees for them just sending me the email of notifying me the charge notice. Imagine! They said they would take the payment from my credit card which they had on file. I checked my statement which shows they took that payment. So I left it as that. Now almost 3 months down the line I'm getting another email from a legal firm called BW legal saying they were instructed by Enterprise to collect 35 pounds, which I already paid and have proof that I did. I'm extremely upset. What scammed. I can't believe this. They have the nerve to pass my details to this company.

Fraudulent approach

Fraudulent approach – The final invoice lists additional items that were never agreed upon. The vehicle was picked up and returned with a full tank, yet a £25 petrol charge appears on the final invoice.

A regular user of Enterprise not only…

A regular user of Enterprise not only here but Europe and the States, We hired a car from Heathrow to drop off next day in Chippenham. It was already 9pm when we were given the car so the light was already fading. They brought a fiat 600 from the back of the lot and did usual pre drive checks. I was particularly warned about tyres/rims as apparently Enterprise are hot on this. Didn’t think anything of it at the time. Took car, arrived home. Next day Enterprise Chippenham call at 10am asking when was I returning car-odd as they have never done it previously and my rental was until 8.59pm. Anyway returned car and the guy immediately zoned in on front passenger wheel - said there was a gouge in tyre and rims scratched. There was mud covering these damages and they looked old. I had no incidents on the way home, no rain so no mud. If it turns out I was knowingly given a car with serious tyre damage, its a grave safety issue. Waiting to hear from the company as I have supplied my evidence. I know I didn’t cause damage but the question is who did and when did the company find out. Avoid like the plague. I most certainly will not be hiring from these vultures again.

Enterprise Gandia Would Not Recommend

The online booking process was straightforward and easy to use. However, the problems started when we arrived to collect the car.

First, we were asked to provide proof of the address where we would be staying in Spain. While I appreciate this may be part of their verification process, the only documents I was told to bring were my driving license and credit card. If you are renting from this branch, I would recommend bringing proof of your accommodation.

The second issue arose during collection. We were told we needed to pay again for the premium insurance, despite having already purchased it as part of our booking. This was clearly shown on my booking confirmation. Even after I presented the receipt, staff argued that the insurance had not been paid because the receipt showed a price rather than the word "included", which is how the basic insurance appeared. After I added up the charges listed on the booking and demonstrated that the premium insurance was already included in the total amount paid, they eventually agreed.

The final issue is still unresolved. After returning the car, I received a call confirming everything was fine and that my deposit would be refunded. However, when I checked my bank statement, €50 of the deposit had been withheld. I attempted to contact the branch by phone three times but received no answer.

I then contacted customer services through their messaging system to ask about the charge, as I initially thought it might relate to local taxes based on the receipt. I was informed that the €50 had been deducted because we had supposedly opted for roadside assistance. This was surprising, as I would not have agreed to this additional cover. We had already taken out the no-excess protection and only rented the car for four days.

What made this more frustrating was that the car was provided with an almost empty fuel tank, yet we returned it with an almost full tank. Four weeks later, I am still trying to recover the €50 and the case has already been escalated twice.

To be fair, the car itself was in good condition and we experienced no issues with it during the rental. Also, compared with some stories I've heard from family members who have rented vehicles in the area and faced much larger disputed charges, €50 may not seem significant. However, I specifically chose a reputable company, paid a premium price, and still encountered unexpected charges, poor communication, and an unnecessarily stressful experience.

Company tricks.

Good morning.
Today I booked a van with Enterprise in Dover, with pickup at 12:00. The reservation was confirmed and paid. An hour later, a staff member from the Dover branch called and said I could only collect the vehicle with a credit card. They don’t accept a debit card, unlike usual. I was surprised because I always use my debit card to rent the car from them. So I asked them to cancel the reservation. They did that without any problem but charged me £40. They said the booking can be cancelled up to 72 hours before pickup. But I made the reservation only four hours ago !!!!! Unfortunately, this is yet another company that treats the customer like a slave. You’re expected to show up without discussion, meet all the conditions that benefit the company, and in the end pay.

Soon we’ll see the company’s “delightful” response below.

If I could give **zero stars**

If I could give **zero stars**, I would!
After six years of hiring from Enterprise/Alamo every 6 weeks and spending over **£2,000 a year**, this is how they treat a loyal customer.
I returned my car out of hours and was later accused of damaging a tyre. I know I did not cause the damage, there is no way I could scrape a wheel trim and cause 2 deep gouges to a tyre and not be aware! I asked for simple evidence, when the car was first inspected after I returned it, whether it was moved before inspection, and who had access to it. They ignored every one of those questions. Instead, they hid behind their so called“20 point inspection” the same inspection that had already missed obvious damage to the car when I collected it and pointed it out.
To top it off, they charged £96. 50 for the tyre and then add on another £ 78 in “admin fees”for a claim I completely dispute and is being independently reviewed. Honestly doesn’t matter to me, I’m fully insured, it’s the principle of knowing I’m paying the price for something I did not do! I’ll never use Enterprise, Alamo or any associated company again, their loss of 2k a year. Be very careful if you return a vehicle out of hours and definitely again I will video the whole car even at 3am when it’s pitch black!

I hired a car in Geneva from these ridiculous people. The hybrid Honda they gave me had multiple electronic issues, like a boot that would not close and a fuel cap that would not open. Then it was completely dead on the second morning. So we called the recovery number and I spent the day exchanging it at the airport. I now find that they have billed me over £700 for the callout and £10 for the fuel which I was unable to refill. Staggering!

Don't use the Sutton Coldfield branch

Booked a van from the Sutton Coldfield office to move my daughter. Didn't have the van I booked. I agreed to take a smaller one. And was offered a refund. What they actually did was charge me again and whacked on insurance I didn't want or need because I'd arranged it separately. The most expensive van hire I've ever had....£150 for a tranny for two days including the insurance I wanted and the policy I didn't want. Also, because the van was smaller it took me four trips instead of two!

What a pile of crxp!!

My car failed it's MOT so tried to hire small car for 1 x day as I had appointments the next. After AI bot and press 1,2,3,4 etc, when eventually thru to a human, no greeting just Qs and wrong assumptions about my call despite Qs already answered with Bot!!
Started conversation again......cut off!!

Called back via bot & runaround b4 human. No record of previous call.

THIS HAPPENED 4 X TIMES....each person apologised saying calls been dropping all day!! I finally completed booking & email confirming time of pick up 5.30pm for 1 x day.

Received voicemail asking me to call back as they needed more details!! Called back...... via usual rigmarole....
to be told no details required.

They called me 5 mins later asking for more details, no knowledge of previous calls. Nothing recorded but could see booking.

2 hrs later, and nearly time for pick up, called again and was asked What time I would be arriving to pick up???

Told her I was waiting for 5.30pm pick up. 'Oh we can't pick up at that time, we close at 6pm' 😡😡😡😡😡 'can't you get an uber and we'll give £20 petrol discount??

Wearily, I just said if I could be bothered and hung up in disgust.

What the hell is all this madness? No wonder poor mental health on the increase. No phone numbers only websites and contact forms that no one ever responds too.

I'll use taxis everywhere for next 24hrs

Enterprise used to be very easy & reliable but now a pile of crxx!!
