False advertising on the site

False advertising on the site, staring that an offer ends on a date when in fact it ended earlier. The reply from envato was: sorry we cannot do anything. This is illegal practice in Europe to advertise something which you cannot sell. I will definitely not buy anything from this site again since to me it spells scam. Totally frustrated by the experience. Likewise I will not purchase any item from the said seller. There is no honour on the part of neither the seller nor envato. Absolutely not happy.

Absolutely unscrupulous! Don’t buy anything from them!! they sold me a broken script, and now that I’ve opened a dispute with the bank they’re clinging onto my money with their fingernails! So beware, don’t be fooled: there is no support at all! They only care about money!

deletion of factual reviews

I submitted a factual, negative review of a product I purchased on Codecanyon, describing honest shortcomings and issues I encountered, only to find that my review was removed without any explanation. This seems to be a common issue—many honest negative reviews, especially those with low star ratings, regularly disappear from the site, making it difficult for buyers to get an accurate impression of products. The lack of transparency and apparent censorship of critical feedback does not inspire trust in Codecanyon’s review system. Potential buyers should be aware that negative experiences may not be visible due to this arbitrary removal policy, undermining the credibility of reviews on the platform.

The main reason for the 5-star review…

The main reason for the 5-star review is the outstanding service. I had a password issue, logged a ticket on a Friday night, and had the issue resolved in less than 12 hours; nothing short of amazing, and shout out to Milo for a job VERY well done! Also, for the price, the asset selection is quite broad. Very good value for a "solopreneur" or small team just getting started. The images and stock video are a little too "DEI friendly" and I often have to use an AI generator to modify the images to include "more white males" to make the assets more reflective of a real business environment, but otherwise, I'm very satisfied!

A problem when you charge your Card

There seems to be an issue with the card payment process. For example, I added a card with exactly €34.56 — the amount required for checkout. However, before the main charge, the system deducted €1 without providing a valid receipt. Immediately after that, it attempted to charge the €34.56 listed on my invoice and order.

Because of the missing €1, my card was declined due to insufficient balance. I then transferred an additional €3 to the same card, bringing the total balance back to €36.54. When I retried the payment, the system again charged another €1 without a receipt before attempting the full amount.

I assume these two extra €1 charges will be refunded after the transactions are processed. Until then, I’ll keep my 3-star rating. The Envato Market offers a huge variety of valuable content that I truly appreciate, and I’ll be happy to update my review to 5 stars once this issue is resolved.

⚠️ WARNING: SCAM PLATFORM – Avoid Envato / CodeCanyon at all costs!

I purchased a “dating app source code” from Envato that was completely broken, outdated, and full of bugs.
After asking for a refund, the author suddenly pushed an update to cover the fraud, and Envato protected him instead of the customer!
They delay, ignore, and hide behind their so-called “quality team.” It’s all fake.
3 professional developers confirmed the code is garbage and not even functional.

This company sells defective software, refuses refunds, and helps authors manipulate customers.
Total scam. Don’t waste your money here!! once you pay, you’ll never see your money again.

My Honest Experience with CodeCanyon’s Review Process

I spent a lot of time building a clean, fully functional WordPress plugin that solves a real problem. It followed every rule, included working demos, and met all coding standards.

Yet, it was rejected within minutes — without a detailed explanation or fair review. This kind of “instant rejection” is extremely discouraging for developers who actually try to bring something new and useful to the marketplace.

It’s hard to understand how older, outdated items are allowed to stay live while new, well-coded projects are dismissed without consideration.

All I ask for is a transparent and fair review process — one that values effort, originality, and code quality equally for all authors.

My ThemeForest Account Got Locked Right After Payment — No Access, No Refund!

I’m sharing my honest experience with Envato / ThemeForest after purchasing a digital item from their marketplace.

On October 26, 2025, I bought a theme for $41 USD, paid via MasterCard (ending 0409).
The payment was successfully processed, but immediately after the transaction, my account was locked with a message saying “Account Locked”.

Since then, I haven’t been able to access the product I paid for. I contacted Envato Support several times, provided proof of payment, screenshots of the locked account, and waited for days — but I received no proper response or resolution.

Because of this, I had to file an official complaint with Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) — a government consumer protection agency in Australia. I also initiated a chargeback request with my bank since the service was not delivered.

It’s disappointing that a company as large as Envato handles customer issues this poorly.
I’m sharing this so others can be cautious before purchasing — make sure your account is safe and always keep screenshots of every transaction.

Facebook advertising makes the software look more sophisticated than what it really is.
After subscribing Envato I was left to question whether their add campaign was created with Envato. I think not.
Templates are outdated. Fonts are a joke! Save your money move on!

A pure scam

A pure scam, promoting on their website unlimited download but in reality they have 2 separate platforms. One you can download by subscribing the other you have to buy. I paid for one month $36 USD which is about $55 Canadian dollars but the items I wanted are in the other platform. The platform that you have to buy assets one by one. So I got screwed! Terrible experience and sketchy marketing!

Envato is NOT the place where you will find quality scripts and expect them to be supported for along time.
Why? Because almost 20 year have elapsed now since it was born and its getting worse and worse for authors. Envato have done nothing for authors to make their work sustainable long term.

All they do is pushing nonsense "lifetime updates" policy which makes more and more authors leave (because this is NOT sustainable).

Scripts and themes are getting abounded and it will just get worse in the future since Envato decided to stop promoting Envato marketplace, thus making authors work even less sustainable.

Envato had the oppportunity to make this a premium marketplace by implementing some sort of subscription (to make authors value their work and keep maintaining all plugins and scripts) but they decided not to.

All is happening now is authors are leaving masively and start selling on their own websites.

Stay well away.

Stay well away.

After receiving little to no help with a recent purchase, I requested a refund when the author failed to provide any product support. Both parties appear complicit in misleading and effectively fleecing customers.

Foolishly, I purchased another product to replace the first one, only to have my account locked after I raised a PayPal case regarding the initial purchase. The account was then held “for security reasons” and would only be unlocked if I agreed to drop the dispute.

I have since had to open yet another case with PayPal. The entire experience has been unacceptable — avoid at all costs.

I just simply wanted a refund, for my first purchase and they made it so complicated. Money claims court next.

It’s challenging to find any modern…

It’s challenging to find any modern assets. Many of the stock content feels outdated, as if you’re going back one or two decades. The search experience is not the best, and most importantly, they don’t communicate subscription renewal reminders. This likely means a significant portion of their revenue comes from people forgetting to cancel their subscriptions, like me. However, I do receive login notifications, which might be a plus.

Less than the one star you give it!

Less than the one star you give it. I signed up for full year which is VERY STUPID on my part. You can't contact anyone about any issues, so now I have just wasted money. I am an independent artist, I create music and accompanying videos I use both Video clips and AI generated 4-5 second clips. When I try to generate a clip it often will shut me down and even locked me out. I was trying to generate a clip using a fully clothed female image created using Envato's image generator and have the image fade a bit and turn transparent, and move in a fluid style like smoke. It said I violated their policy...I read all of their policy, I cannot find any way that what I am trying to create would cause a policy violation. It was a face, nothing sexual about it or what I was asking it to generate. If I wanted porn I WOULD NOT BE AT THIS SITE! Problem is that I have already paid a years subscription and there is NO WAY TO TALK TO A HUMAN REPRESENTIVE ABOUT THIS ISSUE so I can clear it up. This is USLESS to anyone trying to create ANYTHING of any VALUE.

TLDR: Envato doesn't support their customers

TLDR: Terrible plugin and developers. I purchased a plugin hoping to find a solution and instead I just keep getting more problems.

After installing a plugin, the new product wasn't working as advertised. Maybe I did something wrong so I try to contact the author. except the author doesn't have a public email and only has a support ticket system on their website. I tried filling out a support ticket except their support system wasn't working. At this point, I've spent too much time dealing with this so I file for a refund from Envato.

Chapter 2: Envato doesn't support their customers.
Envato contacts the developer and the developer says that I didn't try to contact them so they're denying the refund. I COULDN'T CONTACT THEM because their system is terrible. I had put that in the refund request. The developer sends me an email address so I email. The response: go to the ticket portal and try submitting. Well, I tried and there's a different error on their portal now so I still can's submit. I tell Envato, they still do nothing.

Chapter 3: Envato Threatens Me
I ask Envato to refund me again or I'll do a credit card chargeback. Instead of supporting the customer, they threaten to close my account which would restrict access to other licenses I've purchased. They ask me to go back to the developer.

Chapter 4: WPGenie can't read
I fill out a ticket on their website....again. This time it submits properly. I supply detailed info with screenshots, the link to the product, and a temporary admin access link. Their response: we need admin access to review this. What?! I just supplied that.

Chapter 5: Finale
After more useless back and forth with Envato, I have to file a credit card chargeback. In case Envato removes this, I will post it on BBB and send to the attorney general as well since their practice is in violation of California business laws.
Avoid WPGenie and Envato. They don't support their customers.
